Chapter 9 - Blushing

"I will allow you to see the Erlkings realm today. But we must be disguised thoroughly."

"Can you show me this realm? Your home?" I ask boldly. His eyes changed like pools of mercury I could dip into. He looked intensely serious. Gazing at my ghoul form a look of disgust flashed over his face.

"You shouldn't be here as a ghoul, we don't have much time, but I will show you my home if you let me disguise you." My face falls. I wasn't even accepted in Hell.

"Okay."

He stands and waves his arm and a long fur cloak appears glistening in the crack of light let through the leaves. The cloak vibrated with green magic. He placed it on my shoulders and it was effortlessly light for how heavy it looked. His hand pulled my hair to the front and braided it with twigs and leaves. In the mirror I was no longer a ghoul but some wooden creature. The vision flickered, knowing this I had to still remain relatively unnoticeable.

"I have a few places to go today, you can follow me closely." He does not wait for an answer.

Caligo walked quickly, but I had endless energy as a ghoul so I didn't mind the pace. It kept me busy.

"Your fathers palace is something to remember. As a ghoul I could see the resemblance to him, I guess all ghouls look alike, but your eyes." I thought back and wondered what my eyes looked like. Green? "Now your eyes only remind me of my home."

I could feel the heat rising in my face. It was a strange sensation after your skin was once dead, to feel blood rush because an attractive elf prince said your green eyes remind him of home. I was hoping it would go unnoticed but he held his hand to my face feeling the warmth on his cold skin. Nothing went unnoticed with Caligo, he was too calculating. He had some human knowledge of space and language, but this touching was driving me insane.

"What about the last point of hell?" I pondered as we walked further out of the house that turned out to be some sort of treehouse.

"That is the evilest and distorted form of chaos you can find. The demons are all about power and draining worlds of all things that bring pleasure to plague." He shivered clearly there was something to be reckoned with the demons, and I wouldn't doubt that. One moment we were up in the trees next we were floating down to the forest floor on some sort of invisible platform. Caligos hands were extended and a green mist flowed from him. I wondered if ghouls had some sort of magic like this. Or maybe it was more sinister like demons. Above us floating through the trees were thousands of glowing orbs and little flying things. There were other houses in the trees. A treehouse neighborhood filled with magic and flying things. Hell didn't seem so bad...

"There, schöne blume." I had no idea what he was saying but it felt like a compliment. He held my wrist and began to show me the realm of the Erlking.
