Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

Grabbing a bottle of rum, I hid in a log. I chuckle to myself. Ajay should know me better than that. I listen to the sound of the forest. The owl Zare loved so much, hoots in the tree above. Even though it's not permitted by the Alpha, I walk towards the vampire cave. Sometimes I spy on Zare, giving my eyes a peek at her. I hid in a nearby line of trees. I see her sitting on a log with Ash. The one vampire Zare seems to like. Maybe love, I have no idea what their relationship is.

I know she smells me. She closes her eyes, putting her head in her hands. I see Ash put his arm around her, comforting her. The emotion that takes over is hard to explain. I hate seeing him touch her when my hands long to be on her. Every fiber in my body longs to take Zare home and lay her down in our sleeping den and make love to her for hours. I close my eyes, remembering the sound of her moan, and her eyes looking up at me from beneath my body.

Snapping out of my daydream, I see AB pick Zare by the throat and throw her to the ground, she moans in pain.

Ash is at her side on the ground holding her in moments, as she cries into his chest.

"AB, don't hurt her," Ash yells.

"Why did you set the fairies free?" AB screams.

"It's not right to trap creatures, they don't deserve that torture," Zare yells. I know she's mad. I can hear the pain in her voice.

AB kneels. So he's face to face with Zare. She is scared, I see the fear in her eyes, and it hurts my heart.

"If you thought Ajay's punishments were bad, wait until you see mine," he hisses.

She cries. "I am sorry AB."

"Don't hurt her, I will keep her in line," Ash says, helping her to her feet. She hugs him, laying her head on his chest. He holds her tightly.

Once back at camp, I sat by a tree. The one Zare loved so much. I stayed and watched to make sure she was unharmed. It seems like Ash had the situation under control and AB backed off. I would never allow him to hurt her.

I watch Ajay chopping wood, it seems like that's how he gets out of his pain. I know he is hurting too. As much as I hate to admit it, he loves Zare, and I know she loves him too.

Aanya walks toward me. I smile. I don't want her to be offended by how annoying her attention is.

Her eyes are teary. I hate seeing girls cry, whether it's my girl or any other pack member.

She sits down next to me. "Ajay hasn't been in the mood for sex for weeks, he must not want me anymore."

"He is just upset about Zare, he is protective over her, and I know it's no secret he is in love with her."

She nods. She looks so upset, and it hurts my heart. I put my arm around her, pulling her to my side.

I rub her cheek gently with my hand. She lays her head on my shoulder.

"What does Zare have that I don't?" She asks.

I look down for a moment, not sure how to answer the question.

"Zare is my person. I am not attracted to anyone else or have the desire to be with anyone else. She is what I want naturally. My wolf is going insane without her."

"But why does Ajay love her so much?"

I frown feeling guilty. " That's partially my fault. I should have just broken things off with Kiara as soon as I realized Zare was my mate, but I allowed her to get close to Ajay."

Aanya looks up at me, I kiss her on the head. "Chetan, I think you're the sweetest guy."

I chuckle. "Thanks, sweetheart, but I think Ajay is more territorial than you think."

We both watch Ajay glare at us from his palace at the campfire.
