Back in high school they used to tell us that in campus there is nothing like reading. A lot of reading is done in high school and campus is all about enjoying yourself. Well, I will both agree and refute their claim at the same time. Being in medical school, I was reading more than how I used to read when I was in high school. As for the 'enjoying ourselves part' I one hundred percent agree.
My first days in campus were fun, thanks for this lady that God brought into my life the moment I stepped my feet into the university. Her name was Lily. She was a tall light skinned girl almost the same age as mine. She was beautiful, with perfectly set dimples on her cheek. She had nice curves…in short she had a hot figure that set my heart a blaze the moment that I saw her.
We vibed on the very first day. Our chemistry was perfect. We shared a lot of things in common. Almost all the things she loved were the things I loved too, from writing to listening to music. It was as if I had find the female version of myself. The only thing we didn't share was the courses we were studying. Lily was studying hospitality management while I was studying medicine and surgery.
Lily was a classy lady. I could tell just by her dressing that she came from a family that was a bit financially well off. This discouraged me a bit. I thought I didn't deserve her, and even if I were to be with her I wouldn't be able to give her everything she wants.
Personally I came from a very humbled background. To be where I was my dad had almost sold everything he had, from cows to our only farm. I had knocked many government offices myself asking for assistance, most of which turned out to be futile. Fundraisings had been held in our village in order to support me.
Those were my thoughts though, as for Lily she thought completely different. One-day Lily invited me for lunch. We had been friends for almost a week so I wasn't surprised when she told me to go to her house for lunch. I didn't mind at all. I was even happy because that meant I would save the money I might have used for lunch that day.
Lily lived in a bedsitter in an apartment not far from the university. This was a place where you wouldn't find the less privilege. This was an apartment where only the rich kids lived. The amount of rent they paid there was not something a person like me could afford. The place was cool though; the high rent wasn't for nothing. There was free Wi-Fi. There also a large swimming pool just in front of the apartment. There was also a movie theater just a couple of meters from the apartment and the residents of the apartment had a forty percent discount. There were many privileges and those were just but a few.
As we were ascending the stairs to Lily's room, we would come across people who would stare at me with disgusted looks which made me kind of uncomfortable.
"Just ignore those fuckers' gazes." Lily advised.
