While gazing at the sky, Zhong Kexin chewed her food, it tasted too good to be true. That was the food that those weasels ate, no wonder they grew fat each and every single day, she thought to herself. After that, she tidied up the table and was about to go back into the house when she heard Lin Leizu's voice screaming at the gate. She wondered if she had no manners, wouldn't she wake up the ones who had been asleep.
"Old madam," the guards greeted her as they bowed slightly and pushed opened the gate. Upon seeing that, she got back into the gazebo and waited for the guest. It seemed that that day her abode was surely a famous place- she had received so many guests that day. Glaring at Zhong Kexin, Lin Leizu hurried her steps and before Zhong Kexin knew it, she was standing before her fuming with anger.
"How dare you take my food? Who gave you the rights to?" Lin Leizu asked as she glanced at Zhong Kexin who was drumming her fingers on the table. Waiting for her to scream at the top of her voice then let her speak.
"No one," she replied, "But who gave you the permission to change my food, you are not my mother and you'd never fit to be even if you were a chosen candidate, I'd rather choose a chicken who can foster her eggs better than you." She added. This made Lin Leizu angry as she had just degraded her level to that of below a chicken. How absurd! She thought to herself.
"I am your mother and the madam of this Mansion, I do whatever I choose to." Lin Leizu replied as she sat down.
"Oh? But aren't you simply my step-mother, that means you are a step away from being my mother, plus you are not the farmer nor the cook."
"Don't dare talk to me like that," Lin Leizu hissed at Zhong Kexin who was not even concerned with anything about her. Looking up at her, Zhong Kexin replied.
"If you did not want to be talked like that then you would have kept quiet and ate your food. I have already finished mine so what's the fuss about?"
"How dare you disrespect your elders! Don't you know any better even without a mother that you are to respect your elders and not talk back to them?" She asked seeming angry. She had never seen such a girl without etiquette before.
"Oh? I thought you were my mother, my stepmother. And also respect is earned, you respect me and I respect you." Zhong Kexin replied as she stood yawned, and walked into her house leaving Lin Leizu outside.
"From tomorrow morning you are to attend to the farm!" Lin Leizu hissed.
"Oh? Father has already given out the same punishment. Truly stupid minds think alike!" Zhong Kexin replied as she sat down on her bed. Looking at her angrily, Lin Leizu walked away. She was really pissed off by that daughter of her co-wife. She knew that the punishment was enough as the rains were about to begin so she did not see the need of adding another punishment. She sent her maid to the kitchen to prepare her some food as she could not eat the other one.
