Zhalong watched as the girls Wanglei and Yingying fed from dispatched from the dining hall and a guard emerge to carry away the dead girl that lay in Lei's grasp.
His brother's eyes were pinned on him as they watched him acting weird yet again when he hadn't fed yet, he quickly tried to compose himself.
They all acted neutral as though it was normal to suck someone dry but he figured they were vampires so it wasn't unanticipated. The girls were nothing more than their meal, they could either drink to their fill or drink more.
"Don't like your meal?" He heard Wenglei's deep voice echo across the long table and he acted as naturally as possible.
"I'm not very hungry, but I'll drink a bit." He said with a short chuckle as he lied smoothly to erase whatsoever doubts that might have been brewing already between his brothers.
He didn't need anyone to push him into drinking blood, he could feel the scorching burn in his throat and his tongue itch uncontrollably to feel the warm blood coating it.
At that rate, he would probably drain her dry, but he didn't want to hurt the innocent girl, he wasn't a monster like his third brother Lei whom he had already grown a disliking to.
He could feel his brothers fixated gazes on him as he took hold of the girl's wrist and brought it close to his mouth which he opened to take a bite.
He salivated as he felt the warmness of her blood flowing underneath her wrist made his body tremble slightly and his canines elongated before digging his fangs into her skin.
He could feel the girl flinch slightly at the prick of his fangs digging into her skin but not a sound left her mouth.
The euphoric feeling of her warm blood coating his tongue and flowing down his throat made his body relax and his eyes shut close as he enjoyed the strange yet exotic taste.
The compelling urge to not let go of her wrist and extract his fangs as he gulped down the contents of the juicy crimson red liquid filling his mouth, quenching his thirst but still, the irresistible urge to have more clouded his judgement, his mind felt hazy with nothing but the inexplicable feeling dominating over his rational mind.
The girl fell from his hold limply on the floor with a soft thud. She lay stiff on the floor and his blood ran cold.
He killed her!
His eyes shone with horror and he subconsciously licked away the smear of blood on his lips.
He stood slowly from his seat, staring at the dead girl in shock.
Why did he have to be reincarnated as a monster of all things? it would have been fine if he was reincarnated as a wealthy human.
"So much for not being hungry, you sucked her dry." He heard Wenglei's nonchalant voice but he didn't turn to look until he heard the screeching of chairs and Lei's awfully annoying laughter ring in his ears.
"Come on, we're going hunting, you'll have a better use other than fucking today." Wenglei said with a slight hint of displeasure as he walked toward the exit of the dining hall without waiting for a reply and his other brothers followed behind.
He wanted to feel a bit of guilt for killing the innocent girl who did nothing but serve him but deep down, he could feel no remorse and he wondered if he was slowly getting attached to his dark sides as a vampire.
He glanced at the girl one more time before following behind his brothers, he didn't want to anger his brother more and get on his bad side.
He saw a guard walk into the dining hall presumably to get rid of the dead girl's body. He sighed in exasperation and continued walking.
He heeded after his brothers as they exited the palace which was built in a traditional pattern, a dragons head spewed out water from the large water fountain that stood in the middle of the exotic palace, servants sauntered around the place, as they carried out their daily jobs.
They proceeded with moving into the forest away from the castle, it was darker from where they had come from as the large canopies of the leaves staved off the rays of sunlight from stretching out it's light into the eerie forest.
The moment they stepped foot into the forest, he saw his brothers move with a speed of lightning as they fled from their position and uneasiness tied itself in his stomach.
What exactly where they haunting?
He would ponder some more but he didn't want to lag behind and face Wanglei's scolding again.
He took a deep breath as he got ready to take a fast sprint along his brothers, he pushed his body forward and he felt as though his feet was gliding through the air as he ran with a fast pace, the wind blew past his face and his ponytail danced in the wind behind him as he moved with a swift acceleration and not less than a minute, he arrived in the same spot as his brothers.
He wondered why they stopped but he wouldn't dare ask as it would seem weird that he was the only one who had no idea what they were hunting when they had obviously done before as it seemed like it wasn't the first time they were out in the forest hunting.
"You're unbelievably odd today, you've always been the fastest." He heard Wanglei's nonchalant voice as his eyes strained around the forest, not sparing him a glance.
"He must be having a hangover, harem hangover." He heard Lei speak accompanied with his loud throaty laughter but Yinying was as quiet as always but he could feel his menacing aura which made his silence dreary.
He was about to make a remark as normal as possible until they heard a loud banging noise erupting from the east side of the forest. The four vampire brothers didn't wait for an invitation before they sped with high acceleration toward the loud noise.
They saw a broken down carriage in the pathway but what piqued their interest was an enormous snake like beast chugging down a whole human down it's throat. It's dark green scales gleamed as a fraction of sunlight reflected on it from the pathway which had no trees on it.
It's green eyes which swirled with dread locked on them and they saw it slither with its tongue which was split in two as it opened its jaws to reveal a pair of large fangs.
He saw his brothers charge towards the beast but it was just as fast as they were, as it crawled away from them on it's scaly belly but they pursued after it.
He couldn't just stay behind to avoid Wenglei's wrath, even though he wasn't sure what to do. He had presumed his new life would be easier in this diverse world for him but maybe he was wrong, now he was tracking down strange beasts with his vampire brothers.
He was about to pursue the strange beast after his brothers until he heard a faint grunt coming from the broken down carriage.
He pondered whether to go after his brothers or stay behind with frantic movements, he wouldn't hear the last of it from Wenglei if he failed to partake in the pursuit, but he didn't want to leave behind whoever was probably hurt in the broken carriage so he bit down on his lower lip in regret and moved towards the direction of the broken down carriage.
He heard the soft banging of the carriage from the inside, his heightened senses enabled him to hear a faint heartbeat and shaky breath coming from the inside of the carriage.
The carriage was upturned to the side so he ripped off the door with a swift hand movement and he smirked at his profound strength before resuming what he was doing.
He saw a figure crawling out of the carriage and he immediately grasped the figure with a gentle but firm grip as he pulled her out.
He froze for a second as his eyes met a pair of large brown ones staring at him, she was a beauty.
Her black silky hair was partitioned into two equal halves with the upper half which was tied in a neat bun with a jade flower hairpin sticking into it with the sharp point sticking out while the lower half was let loose to stop below her waistline.
Her ethereal frail figure was dressed in a light silk emerald robe embellished with white needlework and a white belt wound around her small waist.
His hands were still around her waist from the process of pulling her out of the broken carriage but it lingered there for too long as he was lost in her beauty.
He finally composed himself when he felt her withdrawing herself from his hold while screening her eyes around her surrounding and he suddenly saw tears fill the brim of her eyes.
"Wh..where are my pa..parents? She asked with a croaky voice as she stared up at him, demanding for an answer.
'They must have been swallowed by the giant snake' he thought inwardly but wouldn't dare say a word to her.
