Chereads / The Problem Child / Chapter 36 - Annoyed

Chapter 36 - Annoyed

"I never agreed on studying under your supervision!" Conner whined as Jia pinched his ear for getting the answers wrong for the problem she gave him to work out.

"Trust me, Conner. She is the best tutor you could ever have" Josh smirked from his spot as he enjoyed the sight of Conner being harrassed into doing something he hated doing.

He was glad he no more had to bear the burden of having to make Conner do as he says. He bet Kon misses him right now.

Judging by the way Jia was pinching his ears, he should be missing Josh as his tutor.

Conner glared at the comment Josh had made.

He missed those good old days where he and Trevor used to wander around the school and do random stuff they fancied-- like smoking and dissing teachers.

"You know what, Conner? I think I should take complete responsibility of you from now on" Jia said, looking Conner up and down with a lopsided smile tugging at her lips.

Conner choked in his own saliva. "No, why?!" He exclaimed. "I'm not a baby, lady!"

"Uh-huh. First of all, you are. Second of all, I'm sure I could help you improve your scores. See, you are not that bad at this as you think you are. I mean, look at this, you did get a few of the equations right, afterall!" Jia exclaimed, pointing to the papers Conner was scribbling on.

For Conner, it looked like just a bunch of messed up and uneven lines. None of those words made sense to him at all. But he would be lying if he said he didn't like the feeling of being appreciated.

"Gah, whatever. Where has Trevor gone? I hate to admit it, but I miss him more than air" Conner pouted as he cursed the whole universe mentally, for being stuck with a bunch of nerds.

"He's got detention, remember?"

"Hn. Only if Charlie never said that..." Conner said more to himself than anyone else. "Trev wouldn't even have gone to detention if it wasn't for him". He had started kicking the soil off from the ground beneath his feet out of annoyance. He was already getting so restless from sitting in the same spot for too long.

He took off his baseball cap with one hand and scratched his head vigourously with the other. He let out an annoyed scream.

The fact that Josh was giggling at him ticked him off and he started punching and kicking at him. Jia, being the mom-friend she was, made an effort on trying and pulling the duo apart.

"What is your problem, Conner?" Jia scoffed out, as if to understand what it was that Conner really wanted.

Conner scowled at Jia and crossed his arms. He was just seconds away from stomping his feet hard on the ground.

"What is my problem?! I have been sitting here for..." He checked his watch for the time. "... Almost an hour! One god damn hour for Chrissakes! Doing absolutely nothing!" He yelled with all the might he had.

Jia couldn't help but giggle. She could almost tell why he was behaving the way he was.

He was a guy with the energy levels of a ten-year-old and they made him sit and do something he hated doing the most, which just happened to be studying, for almost an hour.

She was quiet surprised that he didn't blow up with all those energy that might have built up inside of him in the meantime.

"The heck you smiling for?" Conner snapped.

"You are just too cute" she pinched Conner's cheek, scrunching her nose up out of amusement.

Josh noticed the fact that Jia treated Conner different. With him, she was a little.... Less intense.

Anyway, he decided to put that aside for later. Right now, he had to gather his friends and leave for home.

It was getting late and he was feeling a little weary of sitting there for too long.

No wonder in why Conner lost his composure.

"Yo, both of you! Stop your whining and cooing. Let's leave. It's getting late" Josh said, getting up from his spot and gathering his spread out books together.

Conner's face immediately lit up at the mention of leaving.

"Fiinaaally!" He let out an exahausted gasp and got up, stretching his arms. He groaned out as the stretch hit just right.

He did a little warm up and sprinted towards the school's foundation in front.

Jia chuckled, but her smile soon turned upside down into a glare when she noticed Josh's questioning gaze on her.

"What?" She snapped.

"Nothing" Josh squeaked out.

Jia rolled her eyes and walked ahead of him.

He shrugged to himself and walked behind her, making a mental note for telling Charlie about Jia's unusual behaviour.
