Chapter 34 - Capture

The corpse was wearing the same mask that he had seen before, but it was almost blown up, so he could no longer recognize the pattern on the mask.

Dave bent down and picked up the book from the corpse, ignoring the card and the broken potion bottle.

He patted the ashes on it and revealed its true appearance.

The material of the booklet was a paper he did not recognize, but it did not look strong. After the explosion, the booklet was left with a few pieces of paper. There was not much content.

It was written in a rare language, Rasol. Dave flipped it over and recognized a few words that he knew.

" Sage, petrified wood, sulfur…

"This seems to be a formula..."

Although he didn't know what was destroyed in the first half of the booklet, there seemed to be a formula left in the second half.

He just didn't know if it was a Potionology formula or some other subject.

The footsteps of other apprentices could be heard, and Dave quickly put the booklet away.

It was said that the language used by the elves was Rasol. Anything recorded in Rasol was definitely not ordinary.

This thing was considered his spoils of war, so of course, he couldn't leave it for others.

"What happened?"

"Did someone do an experiment and explode again?"

"Experimenting in the house? Are you crazy?"

The voices of the other acolytes came from the other end of the corridor.

One by one, the apprentices came out and found Dave and the dead body at his feet.

"Wow, someone died!"

"Why did he die so miserably…Who did it? Is it this guy?"

"Hurry up and report it to the instructors. It's not a small matter if someone dies!"

More and more people came to watch.

The explosion just now was so loud that, not to mention the 32nd floor, even the 30th and 29th floors had heard it.

In addition to this tragic scene, it was definitely impossible to hide.

In fact, Dave had no intention of hiding anything about the Gray Table.

Of course, these people were just onlookers. It was impossible for them to get close.

Finally, a few Mages in gray robes pushed through the crowd and walked over.

Seeing them, the other acolytes all shut their mouths and retreated as if they would bring misfortune upon themselves.

Gray was a very serious color in the eyes of Mages.

In the academy, a gray robe meant a law enforcer.

The Mages who served as law enforcers were all official Mages, and they were different from the mentors who were willing to teach the apprentices. They were aloof and unapproachable.

When acolytes violated the academy's rules, it was usually the law enforcers who would deal with them.

Their methods were also very simple---the lighter criminals would be arrested and imprisoned for punishment, and the heavier criminals would be killed on the spot.

Every year, it was inevitable that some acolytes would violate the academy's rules, and the law enforcers who dealt with them would be merciless.

Dave was the only one at the crime scene. He showed the ring on his finger without any resistance.

"I'm Teacher Izu's official apprentice. These are the remnants of the organization that the academy destroyed previously. He tried to attack me just now, but I killed him."

He used the fastest speed and the clearest language to describe what had just happened.

The academy must have had some records of this organization, which Dave called the 'Grey Table'. The two law enforcers must have heard about it as well.

The gray-robed mages looked at each other, and their eyes softened a little.

Regardless of whether what he said was true or false or if he was just trying to quibble, at the very least, the fact that he was an official apprentice was enough for them to soften their attitude.

An official acolyte definitely had an official Mage backing them.

If they went overboard and provoked the official Mages behind them, even they would not be able to get off that easily.

The following process was not that simple.

Dave had killed someone, so he was still locked up.

In the detention room, there was a small room that was less than two square meters.

There were walls on all three sides, and only a thick metal door was in front of him.

Dave was handcuffed to control the release of mana in his body, and he sat on the cold floor of the cell.

Fortunately, he had not been treated as a real criminal and had not been searched. Otherwise, a lot of things would have been found.

Dave treated the booklet as a treasure, so he wouldn't hand it over so easily.

Since he had nothing better to do, Dave took out the two books he had just bought.

Reading consumed mental power. It was his mana that was restricted. There was no conflict between them.

The killing just now did not affect him at all.

Dave was surprised at first, but when he thought about where he was, he was relieved.

In a place where life was not valuable, death was also regarded lightly by others.

Even he was the same now.

Fortunately, the academy's side was not slow in dealing with it. Two hours later, he was released.

The person who came to pick him up was the " Chief Apprentice " of Mrs. Izu, so he was the one who handled this matter.

"I knew it. How could they be eliminated so easily?"

Glenn walked out of the detention room with Dave, looking indignant.

"Are those guys reliable or not? They even kept the details a secret. How can the rest of us be at ease?"

"Indeed."

Dave agreed.

This matter started with Millie, so he was already involved.

In the end, he did not get any additional information from the academy and was even found by the remnants of the organization that supposedly had been destroyed.

It was true that the academy did not do a good job of protecting the acolytes.

However, it was also strange. Normally speaking, if the main forces of those guys had been eliminated, then the remaining people... No matter what, they should keep a low profile, right?

But this person actually took the initiative to find trouble with him at this time.

Was there something special about Dave?

After chatting for a while, Glenn changed the topic to drinking.

"Let's go. I'll bring you to drink! Wash away the bad luck!

"You should be sixteen years old, right? In a place like Alnia, sixteen was considered an adult.

"How can an adult not drink? Let's go. I know a very good tavern. I'll show you tonight!"

".. It's fine. The assessment is coming up soon, and I still have to revise."

Dave refused.

He didn't like to drink, and he was afraid that Glenn would do something scary when he was drunk.

What if he ate him?

As a level 3 acolyte, he was definitely not a match for a level 1 acolyte like Glenn.

After saying goodbye to Glenn, Dave returned to his own residence.

The door had been blown up, and the corridor was now dark. It was impossible to live there.

However, the things inside could not be left there.

Dave had no choice but to transport them all to the laboratory.

With his current status, these refining equipment were not too shameful.

"However, I still have to find a place to stay…

"I'll wait until the end of the exam. Perhaps then, I'll be promoted to a level 2 acolyte.

"I still have to stay in the laboratory for the next few days…"
