Saro chuckled softly. "I'm Lia Sarovitch, and I need you to test me. I'm mostly fine, but I don't know very much aside from my name."
Silvana could tell innately that this "person" was hiding something, but she nervously nodded regardless. "Alright, but I want to know what 'this' is."
Silvana pricked Saro's finger and performed the ritual. However, the blood did not separate, and Silvana frowned. "Strange, do you not have any magical aptitude?"
Saro thought for a moment. "I should. However, it was discovered recently that Kova had a...second set of mana circuits, and they're 'badly damaged'. I suspect Kova and I have a separate set."
Silvana nodded. "Severed mana circuits would for sure be the cause. Although, what the hell happened to cause that, and why is your blood practically boiling?"
Saro shrugged. "It's always been like this. Thank you though."
Without another word, Saro let Lia take control back, and she rolled her shoulders a bit. 'It always feels kind of strange to switch back, like an extreme amount of pressure exerted on the body was suddenly relieved.'
Lia spoke softly. "Thanks for that. Please keep it a secret. I don't want anyone else to find out."
Silvana nodded. "Just one thing to confirm before you go. There are two of you in that body?"
Lia nodded and Silvana continued. "That's all I wanted to know. You're taking the class though, right?"
"Definitely," Lia answered as she left the room.
Upon her exit, the boy at the front did not even dare to look at her. Earlier, he had seen some horrible nightmare creation standing behind her. He nearly pissed himself.
With that done, she approached her friends. "I had something important to tell her. Sorry about that. We can all wait here or head somewhere else if you want."
Sisha nodded. "No worries. I want to get tested."
Lacey nodded. "The two of us should wait here."
Lia shrugged. "I'm going to sign up for the war class. I'll come back here afterward."
The two girls nodded at Lia, who promptly left.
.....
The hallway around the classroom with Mr. Carver in it had no one standing around it. His class was indeed the opposite of popular. There were, however, three students chatting with him when she entered.
One was a boy with golden blonde hair, another was a girl with shoulder-length orange hair, and finally, a black-haired boy with a rather large pompadour.
Lia thought the hairstyle was ridiculous, but didn't say anything when she entered. Noticing some light hostility from them, she flexed her wings in a stretching motion as she approached Mr. Carver. "Told you I'd be back to sign up."
Mr. Carver turned towards her and smiled softly. "Indeed you did. How many classes have you signed up for?"
"Just one for now. My friends are waiting to get tested," She answered.
"Ah, the Space, Time, and Soul class. You know most people fail out of it." He said half-jokingly.
Lia smiled as she bent down and wrote her name. There were only two other names on the list, one of which was Sisha. "I won't." She spoke with absolute confidence, and Mr. Carver seemed speechless.
"I believe you for some reason. Well, I hope you sign up for more electives." He was giving her advice, and she appreciated the effort. Good teachers are hard to find.
Lia decided then that he was a good person. She answered with a smile as she straightened up. "Don't worry, I'll have six electives. Take care, Mr. Carver."
He nodded, and the girl with the orange hair spoke up. "Aren't your wings kind of in the way? Why do you have them out all the time?"
Lia chuckled softly as she turned towards the trio. Their initial hostility seemed to disappear. "Unfortunately they're permanent. Trust me, I'd unsummon them if I could. They get in the way a lot. All of my clothes had to be modified when they suddenly sprouted, ripping through the back of my shirt."
The girl laughed as the boys watched on awkwardly. She spoke with curiosity. "Can I see them? I've always wanted to see someone with wings."
Lia shrugged as they unfurled in their entirety. "Sure, but don't touch them."
The girl moved closer, inspecting the wings with a biological curiosity. Lia noticed that look immediately. "Interesting. Your wings have mana circuits that connect to your body. The wings themselves seem to be made out of a separate material than your skin. It might be keratin or maybe something harder, bone perhaps? Very intriguing. If you don't mind, could we get together sometime, maybe I could have a closer look? Sorry, I forgot to introduce myself, I'm Page."
Lia nodded as her wings folded back in. "Lia Darkova, and I don't mind. We can link pagers if you want."
The girl beamed brightly. "Oh, that would be perfect. Thank you!"
Lia nodded as the pagers made an auditory "Ding". She continued: "Well, I have to get back to my friends. See you later, Page"
With that, Lia left Mr. Carver's classroom.
.....
Lia approached the girls who were now standing near the front of the line. The three of them chatted, mostly about Sisha.
Apparently, she came from a "brood" of four. Her mother, her father, and a twin brother. She was sent to Haven, and the twin brother is set to take over as the tribe's leader. According to Sisha, it's very very rare for snake-kin to have twins. In her tribe, it had only ever been recorded one time before.
Sisha asked Lia a bit about vampire culture, and she told her about how vampire children are raised one at a time, except in the case of twins. She also told her about how the royal family works. Now that she left home, her mother is having another child, and once a royal child leaves home, they practically give up their right to the throne. Except in case of an emergency. Of course, her family will still support and help her, she's just not being groomed to take the throne.
The three of them chatted until Lacey entered the room. Minutes later, she exited with a smile on her face. Sisha was next, and she too exited with a smile on her face.
The three of them began heading to their next elective. The teacher was out in the courtyard of the school. They would be checking out swordsmanship lessons, but Sisha wanted to stop by the monster-taming class first.
