Chapter 31 - Tournament Skill Contest (Part 8) After-Effects (R-18: Gore)

The air was silent. No one spoke, how could they when Yura's body was shaking so violently? A deep purple magic circle appeared on the floor beneath her, and it soon erupted into the sky. It bathed the entire battlefield in a glorious purple hue.

A shadowy figure began to form in the light. Its face was the first thing to be revealed. Sharp, jagged teeth. Long, slanted eyes that held no pupils, no irises, just blank white space where they should be. Its limbs were long, impossibly long. They were finely shaped into sharp fingernails. It had nothing below its torso, just shadowy wisps that were impossible to look at.

The creature looked around, and it seemed to...soften...as it saw Yura. Her body twitched, once, then once again before it began struggling to stand. The creature seemed to be piloting her body, as it stood over her shambling form. It was...protecting her..?

The orc generals watched with confused expressions, but when Yura's body reached up and yanked the arrow from its skull; their expressions turned to abject horror. "Wh.what the hell is that?"

The one who spoke was the archer. She was currently shaking, terrified as the creature inhabiting Yura's body locked its eyes on her. It was immediately apparent that the creature was exceedingly angry.

Yura's body moved so swiftly that everyone was barely able to see it. There was an audible *CRUNCH* as the body grasped the orc archer by her arm, hoisting her into the air. She screamed in pain as the body's grip crushed her forearm.

The creature looked at the orc archer and began reaching its shadowy claws toward her arm. It grasped the area just above her elbow and slowly pulled.

The woman cried out in pain as her arm bone, the humerus, was gruesomely torn from her body. Blood splattered everywhere, as the groups witnessed this creature yank a bone from someone's arm while they were alive.

The orc archer died from the sheer shock, and the creature tossed her bone aside. Yura's body stomped on it, and it turned into a pile of shards.

The creature turned its eyes to the mage, and Yura's body turned in lock-step. Almost as if it was teleporting, the creature was instantly in front of her. Yura's body reached out and grasped her throat. The mage was effortlessly hoisted into the air. Her neck bent at a disgusting angle with an audible *SNAP*, and Yura's body dropped her onto the floor.

The creature slowly turned and looked at the remaining three people in front of it.

.....

-Earlier-

Lia stood in front of the orc leader. Her gauntlets were summoned, although they looked dull and overused. Lia spun Hysteria's weight in her hand. As she spoke directly to her. There was a strange psychic connection between the two of them, and Lia could feel it.

"Hysteria, what are you capable of?"

There was a long pause before Hysteria's voice responded. "...No."

Lia responded in a very confused manner. "No? What do you mean?"

Hysteria instantly replied. "This being is of no consequence. Fighting them is a waste."

Lia laughed out loud, and the orc leader just looked at her with a confused expression. When Lia was done laughing, she extended the fingernails on her left hand. They looked similar to claws.

The orc leader scoffed and dashed towards Lia. Generally speaking, Lia recognized she was fast, but she wasn't nearly fast enough. Lia moved to block the gauntlet with her sword, but there was a slight ripple around the blade. It passed directly through the gauntlet with no resistance, slicing into the orc leader's hand.

She jumped back in response, her expression hardening. Lia looked at Hysteria's sword form and whistled. "Damn. Hysteria is much too strong for this fight, she wasn't joking."

Lia moved to sheathe her sword and the orc leader began to harbor doubts. This person was manhandling her and not even trying. She began to truly wonder if this person was a Goddess.

Lia looked at her. "Do you still wish to fight? I do not need a weapon to slay you." It was Saro's voice that asked in the same bored tone.

The orc leader just looked at Lia for a while. "I-"

There was an explosion of deep purple light that cut her off. Lia moved swiftly, flying toward the orc leader. She slammed her head into the ground once, instantly knocking her unconscious. Lia picked her up by the throat and rushed toward her teammates.

.....

Yura's body gazed at the three remaining people. The creature's anger had not been quelled. There was a soft *THUD* as the orc leader hit the ground hard.

Lia slammed down in front of the three people left, blocking the creature's vision. Her eyes hardened as she spoke to Saro. 'Status, Saro. What's happening? It looks like some form of possession.'

Saro replied instantly. 'It seems like some kind of spirit has possessed her. At a glance, it doesn't appear to be malevolent.'

Yura's body dashed toward Lia, both of its hands raised into fists.

They slammed down onto a floating sword. Hysteria had blocked it in her sword form.

The creature let out a blood-curdling scream. The noise was loud enough to cause everyone's ears to begin bleeding. Yura's body echoed the scream, high-pitched and full of terror.

Lia cursed as Hysteria returned to her hand. She retracted her left hand's fingernails and raised her hand upwards. The copious amount of blood from the creature's rampage formed into chains and lunged toward her.

The chains wrapped themselves around Yura's arms and legs, pulling themselves tight. The creature was restricted.

Lia's face hardened into a scowl. She could feel the creature breaking struggling against them, and it would break free soon.

'Kova, this is a very dangerous situation. Your teammates have to get out of here.'

Lia yelled out. "Take the orc leader, get out of here! This is dangerous and I'm not sure I can protect you. Go. Go now."

The chains snapped, and Yura's body rushed toward the group of three. Lia moved, blocking its path with her sword. The body's hands were against the sword. It was taking a lot of Lia's strength to hold it back.

Saro spoke quickly. 'Switch with me. I have more physical capabilities.'

Lia let go, and Saro stepped in.
