She couldn't even yell for him as the water swirled around her. The ocean currents were dragging her this way and that until Ari could hardly tell up from down while her lungs struggled to cope with the sudden lack of oxygen. Though she wasn't completely helpless, letting out a bit of air she knew that oxygen always traveled upwards. Her arms and legs began to kick like mad until she broke the surface, gasping as she turned this way and that to catch sight of him.
"Alaric! Alaric, this isn't funny!" There was a genuine note of panic in her voice knowing that he couldn't swim and they'd been separated. Ari began to make her way to shore while calling for him still, keeping an eye out for his figure. Nothing happened for hours after that. The morning streaked into the purple and orange of evening, then into the blackness of the night where slight winds rolled off the hot Hawaiian ocean.
