Ari watched him pace back and forth wishing she had more to offer than vague warnings from a man hopefully thousands of miles away. "They seemed nice but what do I know? Someone else could have told them or they could have already been associated with whoever is in control of those beasts. Or maybe even the person who always sends letters who always seems to know what I'm doing or where I am." The woman moved close enough to the ledge to be able to watch the traffic and people walking by who all looked like ants from that far. "Everything isn't right. We're halfway across the country running from some thing that wants to eat me."
