Delaney felt her mind go blank and her body became numb. The words kept ringing in her ears, turning louder by the second and she felt darkness clouding her mind, before a cold hand touched her face and she snapped back to her senses.
Her eyes stared at the hand on her cheek, following it to the eyes of the owner. Keir retracted his hand and pocketed it instead.
"B–but, he has only been gone for a few days." she said. Her voice turning heavy, as well as her heart.
"He's dead!" Keir declared firmly. Delaney felt air leave her lungs and she clutched her chest tightly. "I told you to help me find him but you refused. This could have been prevented. Now they didn't even leave a corpse for you to burry. The dragons burnt him to ashes."
