Delaney lay curled up in bed, her eyes wide open and her mind restless. She couldn't tell if it was the effect of the book she just finished reading, or the cold weather that made her shiver every now and then.
It was pouring hard outside, and every time thunder rumbled in the sky she would flinch, then look out the window subconsciously. Her heart felt heavy for some reason and her chest felt stuffed. The food that had been on the bedside table for a while now was turning cold but she couldn't bring herself to stomach anything, and she just stared into the darkness dazedly.
The weather had been gloomy all day, giving her the perfect excuse to avoid leaving her room. She didn't even take a bath and immediately jumped in bed as soon as she finished reading about Merikh's family. All she could think of was how could someone like that exist? If she didn't know better, she would have thought that the story was just a fiction.
