When dinner was served, Azalea joined them but Merikh was nowhere to be seen. The food was sweet as usual and Delaney ate her fill, considering she hadn't eaten anything except apples for the previous day.
When they finished eating, Azalea cleared the table and Delaney decided to help with the dishes. She noticed that here servants didn't have to do everything. After they cooked dinner they just left to be with their families and Delaney thought it was a good thing.
As she wiped the clean plates, Azalea suggested, "you should come with me tonight. There's going to be a party and I thought you'd be bored sitting in the house alone."
"I don't think that's a good idea," Delaney responded, recalling how the people had treated her. It was very clear that they wanted to tear her to pieces every chance they got so she wouldn't take herself to the slaughter house.
