After getting no reaction from Thomson, when he explained the effects of the Mana potion, Welson continued. Because that wasn't all the Mana potion was capable of.
"Aside from increasing one's stats, this potion has another function. Which my man Tho is awakening one's ability."
Saying so, Welson once again looked at Thomson. But looking at Thomson's blank expression, he was confused.
'What's wrong, shouldn't he be happy for finally getting the chance to avenge his parents? And the thing I need doesn't even mean much to him either.'
As Welson was thinking about why his cousin was acting out of place, Thomson opened his mouth and said.
"So, did you come here to show off your latest achievement or is there something else you want?" Knowing fully well why his cousin was here, Thomson asked both directly.
"I...." After hearing what Thomson said, Welson had no idea what to say. "Fine…, I am here for the elder token." Admitting defeat, Welson revealed the real reason he came looking for Thomson.
"But it's not for the reason you might be thinking. Can you listen to be before….."
Knowing his cousin couldn't misunderstand his reasons, he tried to explain himself.
"Oh, what wouldn't I understand? You want my Elder token, isn't giving it to you the same as leaving the clan." Thomson spoke with clear hatred in his eyes before Welson could finish speaking.
After his parents died, they left all their wealth in his name. But when he ran away from home a year ago, he found he didn't have a penny in his name.
The only possible explanation he could think of was that the clan branches divided all his parent's wealth among themselves.
Now, after taking away everything his parents left him, the branch leaders are scheming to kick him out of the clan.
Otherwise, why would they send the only person he is familiar with to come and try to take away his elder's token?
"No, why would I take your elder token?" Wilson denied Thomson's words and started to explain his real reason for being here. "As I already told you, the effects of my Mana potion on normal humans are nothing less than a miracle.
It can increase a person's stats by 10-15 points which is almost impossible for normal humans to achieve in their entire life. Even if they spend ten hours daily training.
Aside from that permanent effect, taking this potion has a chance of awakening one's ability. Although the chance is low, it's still there.
I want to share this incredible potion with everyone, so I am ready to disclose the formula to the public and get some sort of royalty on it. But the clan is against this idea and they hope to monopolise it."
Explaining the problem he was facing in the Clan, Welson thought back to the difficulties he faced in the creation of the Mana potion. During the process, he came across too many dead ends.
But knowing he was doing this for the greater good of humanity kept him going.
When he first started, he wanted to come up with something that could strengthen awakens abilities and thus increase their chances against the overwhelming numbers of Werebeasts.
But after going through countless studies about the abilities and theories of their origin, he got nothing.
He couldn't figure out the mystery behind the origin of abilities. After spending countless hours and finding nothing, he gave up.
The nature of abilities makes it impossible to strengthen them without continuous use and training.
But remembering everything he was doing was for the greater good of humanity. And knowing full well, none of the great scientists in history succeeded on their first tries. Instead, they failed countless times before creating history.
Thus he continued.
After spending another month, he made no progress. But then he heard the news of awakening coming to a halt.
At first, he was shocked, he couldn't believe what he heard. But after a while, he came to terms with it.
Stopping his research to strengthen his abilities, he started looking for ways to awaken them.
Of all the studies he read about abilities, every single one described them as something unnatural. Something like that wasn't supported by the laws of nature.
They describe it as a bug in the system and many believe nature was going to patch it sooner or later.
Once again going through studies about abilities, he found something interesting. While the abilities aren't the law of nature, the power source they use to charge themselves is.
Thus he began studying Mana. Maybe the secrets of abilities were hidden in Mana. After studying Mana and doing some of his tests, he found something incredible.
Mana seems to exist everywhere in the world, be it in plants, rivers, mountains, land and even in human beings. Unlike the abilities that defy the law of nature, Mana is a force of nature and it's everywhere.
Since then he started believing the theory that has been going around the circle of Runemasters for quite some time now. Abilities are the product of complex rune arrays.
But if this theory is correct then who is creating those rune arrays?
So, he did in-depth research about the theories that have been going around the inner circle of Runemasters. He was to say that those Runemasters sure have a mild imagination.
But he found something interesting. Rune-Grandmaster Kai, the same one who came up with the test ball, is certain that abilities are a product of complex rune arrays.
His theory was that a long ago a great civilization well-versed in the use of Mana, existed on Earth. But then something happened and the whole civilization was destroyed.
But before civilization was destroyed; they created very complex and powerful runes arrays and bestowed them upon their descendants. Those rune arrays could be active if these descendants come across any danger. Or maybe there are some other criteria for the activation of the rune arrays.
But no matter what, once these rune arrays become active they would grant the descendants supernatural abilities. This could be the reason why human history is filled with tales of Deities and Superhumans performing unimaginable feats.
The descendants of that civilization should be the ancestors of humans which is why modern-day humans can awaken supernatural abilities. Because they already have that complex rune arrays inside their bodies which were passed down by their ancestors.
Going by the Rune-Grandmaster Kai theory, then every single human should be capable of awakening abilities. One just needs to find the trigger that awakens the dormant rune array.
Studying Mana he believes it was the trigger that dormant rune arrays need to awaken in one's body. Or at least, it should be a part of the trigger.
But then, he came across an experiment done by a Runemaster 4 years ago.
