Chapter 11 - Training I

Feeling the burst of three elemental chakras erupting from Jakari an uncomfortable feeling rose in the pit of my stomach as I felt the elemental auras of Jakari.

Lightning, Poison, and Fire. Ain't this a bitch.

Jakari laughed with pure joy as he saw the ugly expression on my face, "What's wrong? Not saying any of that hot shit now huh?" He asked with a smile and went back to his seat, "Face it Zaire, you're outclassed."

"Agreed," Zabrina and Liliana said in unison as their elemental auras busted out as well, "While you seemed to become a Dual Elementalist the last time I checked two is greater than four," Liliana said coldly.

"And?" I retorted, "Just because you guys have more elements than me doesn't mean you're stronger now, does it? The only reason why you guys can beat me is because of your ranks. In fact, it's not even that. It hadn't even been an hour since I'd become an Elementalist and I was already able to dodge Jakari's attack. If we were the same rank he wouldn't even know how he died." I smiled.

The lack of response from anyone in the room only solidified my claim. Having a lot of elements wasn't as good as it seems on the surface, it's all about how you use them. One could be attuned to all the elements but if they didn't have a core element or at least a strong point then there was no point in them flexing that they had all of these affinities.

Sure Jakari is a Quadra-Elemental but does that mean he's automatically superior to me? Fuck no it doesn't. If anything he had a lot more work to do and will take longer to find a path that he will take and that's especially so since based on the elements that he showed me only lightning and fire seem compatible with each other and that's if he decided to take up one of them as his secondary element, there's always a chance he'll choose poison instead.

He's not in my position, Darkness, and Wind were very compatible so my path would be smooth sailing as long as I don't try to flex and end up on one of the MC's kill lists.

"Good to see that my kids are getting along." Spoke to the cold voice of Father as we all turned toward the table where he sat in his chair giving each of us a glacial stare.

How the hell did he even get there? None of us heard any footsteps and he certainly didn't walk in on the little confrontation between me and Jakari.

"Now that we got your petty dislike for each other out of the way it's time to discuss the reasons why you're all here. Three weeks from now you're all going to Nightfall." He began, leaving all of us petrified.

I had no idea why my half-siblings were so scared of going back to Nightfall, they are all upperclassmen so they will barely have anything to do with all the shit that's going on over there as it's mainly the freshman class that I'll be joining where all the action happens.

The only way I see them getting involved is if they go out of their way to interfere and become a hindrance in my plan and try to get me killed, which is a very likely scenario.

"Why?" Liliana asked, "The semester doesn't start for another four months."

"Doesn't matter. Just know that you're going so you guys better start packing up your things. Also, it's best that you guys start training as soon as possible." He said with a little...uncertainty.

What the hell is going on?

When I was reading Blood of Darkness it was from an outsider's perspective. Sure I knew what was going on and all the cruelty I was about to see but it didn't affect me at all since to me it was nothing more than just a story.

But now that I'm actually living in this world I'm very sure that things won't go exactly as they did in the story regardless of my interference or not. The uneasy feeling that my father was feeling regarding Nightfall was the clearest example possible.

In the story sure Nightfall had some kind of tense and ominous air around it but that was only after the characters showed up and started going crash-out mode. Not only that but only nobles and royals were the ones who mentioned the academy in a fearful and apprehensive way.

Sure the Tiji Family was a peak High-Class family but it was nowhere near the power a noble family had at its disposal so for him to act like this can only mean one thing: He knows too much.

As for what he knows I have no idea. People get into high positions in this world by being smart, strong, and bold. Nobles are bold enough to scheme against the royal family even though the punishment is so bad that entire houses will kill themselves before they fall into the hands of the royals.

Well looks like I'll find out that shit later whether I want to or not. Something is clearly going on behind the scenes already but it won't do me any good if I try to find out now. What's the point of me finding out if I'm too weak to do anything about it anyway?

I turned and left the study and went to the training facility located in the back of the estate and took the elevator that went far below ground level.

"Well, it looks like I have to bring my plans faster than I thought," I mumbled as the elevator doors opened, revealing the massive dark training grounds that were specifically designated for us based on our professions.

I have no idea whether I'll be able to reach Rank 1 in a few weeks but I'm for damn sure gonna try. I'm not gonna go out like those fools in Nightfall just because they thought they were the shit because of their background.

Only power means anything in Nightfall, everything else is pointless.
