His grip on his katana hardened as rustling in the bush could mean anything. Something must be there, either animal, human, goblin, a danger or merely meander. It could be Joo Dae Tae, scumbag they meet early in the traveler association.
No one could be sure. No one dared to check. Even he knew for the best not to close in something unknown.
"Alright you gave us no other choice," said Yuki, release his bolt.
A whistle as the cracking noise came from behind. The bolt launch pierced the bush and ended by a tut. Yuki reloaded fast while Rinoa and Ji Sung jolted ready for slashing.
Their feet stem as the squirrel jumps out from the bush. Rinoa gave an amazed look to Ji Sung, slowly smiling together as their intense bodies relaxed.
"Yuki, you almost killed an innocent squirrel." Rinoa can't stop her giggle.
"Yuki the squirrel killer. Sounds fearful."
"Haha. Funny." Yuki's voice yabber as his face reddens. He dashed entering the bush searching for his bolt, and didn't want to waste his precious ammo.
"So what now?" Rinoa said to Ji Sung with a soft voice as she reckoned cave entrance. "Should we storm in?"
"I don't know how goblin would reachted." His katana sheathed. "Are they stupid, brave, cowardly, or anything? It was my first time facing them. Alive."
"Goblin traits differ from one to another, just like us as humans."
Humans. That new thing he heard came from Terranian. So they considered themselves as human, just like him. He wondered how humans could live on Terra in the first place.
"Let me clear some of them from afar." Yuki came as his hand placed a bolt to quiver. "And hopefully they did not notice anything. Follow me."
Yuki opened their path, Rinoa behind him and Ji Sung came last. Ducking, they slowly narrowed gaps between them and the cave entrance.
The gobbledegook echoed in the cave. Two shadows came out from there. The torch light helping Yuki pinpointed those two goblin standing and arguing something.
He made quick work of them. First whistle ended on one of their foreheads. The body fell dead, sneering green blood puddled beneath it.
The second goblin laughed seeing his friend fall. But fastky turns cold as he notices his friend dead. Before he could twist his neck, bold pierced his back, so hard it pushed him against the cave wall. Green blood splashed there, giving a color to gray stone.
"Sometimes he could become a cold heartless killer." Jo Sung murmured.
Rin gave a sligh nood. "Killing goblins didn't count as murder."
"Killing squired count," Ji Sung said on teasing urged.
While Rin turns his head, their noses always hit each other. "Better keep quiet," she asked, but her eyes can't blink or move.
"Yes, better keep quite." almost whispered Ji Sung was, captivated by her charm.
Such beautiful eyes make his heartbeat raise. Every soft warm breath coming from her nostril brings a wonderful scent that makes him forget about anything. He hushed the dust on her beautiful face, yet Rinoa didn't budge, not even blink, just giving a mysterious smile.
What is on Rinoa's mind right now? Was that the same in his mind? He wanted to stay with her, only her for a while and get to know her more. It is normal for a man to have that in mind.
"Shh, you two, come in here." Yuki bussied gathering his bolt that was covered with sticky green liquid.
They snapped and Rinoa blushing, fasting her work, followed by Ji Sung.
Just before he could let his feet move, he was disturbed by a flash of light. It happened in milliseconds, but he was sure there was a flash coming from those rocks. The same rock they used for hiding before. Could someone follow them, or scout them?
"Shht, Ji Sung, come here. Hurry!" said Rinoa in a soft voice, gave a stern look and waved. As her hand reached Ji Sung's, she pulled him closer. "What is wrong? We're on a quest, focussed on the quest first."
"I know, but something there, or someone, hid behind our rock. I am sure about it."
Rinoa tried to take a look from there. "There is nothing there. At least from here."
"Perhaps squirrel," said Yuki in annoyance. "Come on guys, knock it off already./it getting old."' Perhaps he felt Ji Sung tried to make fun of him.
"I am serious. There is a flash, like something shiny hampering by a sun flash. Should we check it out?"
"No," Yuki said with full conviction as he kept an eye on the cave belly." if we return there, those goblins will realize something. Ifbthey found their friend dead, they would notice our present here."
"But what happens if there is someone there and tries to do something? How about if that light came from Dae Tee? He and his party are also on the same quest as we do, right?"
"Joo Dae Tae?" Rinoa aghast. "You mean that burly man with a thick snout?"
"Yeah." Ji Sung answered. "What would happen if they tried something funny there?"
"Shh okay, okay. Listen, I have an idea, guys." Yuki cutted their conversation with a businesslike tone. "We are supposed to not make any noise, yet you two gossiped like this. Okay, let's do what a true man does while they are in a heated argument. If you win, we return there and do whatever you want. If I win, we will continue our mission. How about that? Would you accept my challenge?"
"Sure, sure, why not." Ji Sung rolled his sleeves. "I never back down from challenges, you know."
With a concerned look, Rinoa tried her best to break them up, ducking betwen them. She doesn't want two of her friends fight for something that is not necessarily the real thing.
"Guys, guys, enough, stop it. Grow up, don't do it. Don't fight. You make it worse. Please don't fight." then Rinoa eyes brown rose height as she realizes what is going to happen.
Two boys ducking and doing 'Rick, Paper, Scissor' thing. She rolled her eyes. "God, these two…."
