He lost. He knew Yuki was cheating, but Rinoa dan Yuki wasn't on his side, so he kept it for himself. He doesn't want them to label him as a Winnie loser.
Torch lit the twilight zone of a monstrous cave different from the first cave Ji Sung had visited. Kar was one of the big five mine on Konstantin Kingdom.
"Wow, it's so large. It's amazing."
"Kar was the biggest three mining caves in the entire contingent and second on Konstantin," Rin said as she hid behind a rock wall peeking into the central cove system.
It was also Yuki's first-time venturing here. "What are they mining anyway?"
"Iron," Rinoa pointed at the shiny white wall. "There, even here, we could see a raw silver stone. If this cave stopped producing silver, 25% of Constantine's economy would be gone."
"They should send full-armed guards instead." Ji Sung was speaking his mind.
"Not that simple. To mobilize the guards' regiment, they need time. And it could raise suspicion from neighboring countries, especially while diplomacy with a particular nation is cold."
"Then is it better to send a traveler or someone who wants to make easy money here?"
"That is the cheapest way to do it. Five gold coins against possibly 15 gold coins to send a regiment of guards here."
Yuki and Ji Sungbturn their heads, bewildered hearing what Rin said.
"Your king is a cheapskate," Ji Sung commented.
"No, I hear the capitals already send orders, a quest for the government. But he decided to wait for a week before sending guards. He is the one who tried to delay for some reason."
"Please, focus on the quest," Rin said, pulling those two men back on track.
The fantastic cave spans 500 meters high and 1000 meters deep. It consists of about three floors with an entrance on the first floor and two layers of underground channels that could be seen with the naked eye, and many more beneath it—everything connected by a train system.
The goblins made camp on the first underground level using a ragtag, anything they could find. They made a tower on the second floor and prepared to create defense structures everywhere.
Yuki rescanned the whole cave using his magnificent 'explorer-only skill,' but he failed to notice some goblin who kept watch on the upper layer of the cave until Ji Sung pats him.
"Thanks. Oh god, how could they plan a defense like this? It is to advance for mere goblins."
"Any plan?" Ji Sung asked.
Rinoa explained her plan to everyone "Let Yuki clear those goblins on the second floor and thirds. After all is clear, we sneak and attack them from behind, and Yuki helps from above, clearing the first floor. How about it?"
It sounds like a reasonable plan, and everyone agrees.
Yuki carried seven bolts on his quiver and did fast work to eliminate four Goblins on the second floor. He had a gift, a skill for using a crossbow.
Ji Sung noticed it. Even though the system said weapon proficiency, when you didn't know how to use that weapon, it was useless. One must learn how to handle the weapon they chose before using it. But where does he train using a crossbow?
In another one, he shot and pierced a goblin's head. "I have one left. Could you help me up there?"
Rinoa nodded. "Ji Sung, wait here. While I was helping him retrieve his bolts."
Both were leaving. Rinoa's necklace glowed milky green as she activated her stone power. Creating a whirlwind, she propelled Yuki to the second floor. There, Yuki releases his last bold at one goblin that almost screams. Then Rin following drove herself there.
Look like they were pros and didn't need Ji Sung at all. Why are they asking him for help them anyway and leaving him alone?
Yeah, He know Yuki has no mele weapon and need Rinoa for help, but why? If they want to do it together, they sould be sticking together.
*Trank, trank trank*
Gobling hammering bel. "Intruder! Intruder!" Too bad Yuki had not yet retrieved his bolts. No one could stop that greeny.
"Shit." Ji Sung raises his katana, blocking the swinging club, then slicing it in half before kicking its owner.
Come, another goblin raised his club. Before he could swing, Ji Sung trusted his chest—green blood sprouted as he pulled his katana covered in green liquid.
Rin, on the second floor, fought a goblin. She evaded the hammered club, pushing the goblin down. Poor goblin, he fell like a watermelon.
From Rin behind, Yuki released his crossbow and killed two goblins.
Zhiing zhiing zhiing.
Ji Sung gasped, throwing himself behind the sandbags the goblin had created. He saw a goblin using some kind of rifle that fired red light.
"Lasfle!" Yuki yelled and took cover behind a rock. "God, how they had that weapon?"
"Ji Sung, beware!" Rin hid beside Yuki as she tried to cache Ji Sung's glips. "That Lasfle, laser rifle. They could make a hole in our body!"
Lase hitting sandbag, make a hole there, and sand pouring off. Ji Sung jumped to a big rock behind, and the laser struck it and made a hole. There is no hide for that.
"I hate running away, dammed! Face me like a real man!" He knew the goblin probably could not understand what he said, but he did that anyway to relieve his surge of anger.
Goblin stops firing and hits his rifle instead. Look like stupid goblin can't reload lasfle. The other goblin came and hit him on the head. Then they start fighting to give Ji Sung change for jolted and using his katana against them.
Three goblins ready with their club, charging valiantly–stupidity toward their dead. Ji Sung activated his skill and dashed. Soon those three fell to the ground, green pool emerged beneath them.
A stair led to the second floor, and four goblins dashed on it. One randomly shot at Ji Sung, but no laser was near enough for Ji Sung.
Before Ji Sung could reach them, he was almost hit by a laser from nowhere. Then he heard a man's voice.
"Fire at him, shoot!"
He caught a glips of something, like a blurred figure of a man. The laser came from there. But it, too precisely, that hit Ji Sung's jacket, created a hole between his armpit. He threw himself behind the cover.
"I hate melee weapons." It hardly could reach those ranger weapon users. "Yuki, cover me up!"
"Clothing device!" Yuki yelled as he busied fighting with the Goblin around him. "I detected three men around there! Be careful!"
"Nice info." Ji Sung peeked and tried to find that figure, but he found nothing.
But suddenly—
