Chapter 14 - Anti Trope

"From now on, your name is Pussy…" Hans smiles at the ignorant Abyssinian cat.

Pussy has orange fur, a slim body, and a playful attitude. It is particularly endearing as it purrs in affection while Hans scratches its chin. "Pussy, pussy, pussy… Who is my pussy? You are my pussy… He he he he…"

Mira gazes at Hans in disgust. She cannot even complete a round of Masters of Myth as Hans plays with the cat. Alas, she cannot do anything to Hans as the cat is Hans's lifeline.

However, every day is hell for Mira.

"Mira, you are so cute when asleep." Hans nonchalantly says to Mira as he kisses his Pussy.

"Mira, you are so good at games you have been playing since six o'clock in the morning." Hans jovially says to Mira as he kisses his Pussy again.

"Mira, you smell great even if you didn't wash yesterday and today." Hans full of smiles maliciously says to Mira while he sprays disinfectant alcohol in the air while he kisses his Pussy.

"Mira, you eat so well you are getting rounder. So cute as always." Hans eats a mouthful of Mira's portion of dim sum as he feeds his own portion to his Pussy.

"Mira is suddenly going on a diet, I am so proud of you!" Hans returns with a bagful of groceries full of meaty delicacies. Of course, he isn't insulting Mira but is simply 'complimenting' her as his Geass Restriction requires of him. After complimenting Mira, he then kisses his Pussy once more.

The hellish cycle continues.

"Mira, please bring down the knife… You are a kind Mira, a kind girl, so bring the knife down… Gently…" Hans uses his Pussy as a shield while he tries to calm Mira down.

The hellish cycle reverses.

"Oi, Mira… Where is my toothbrush? What the f—" Hans cusses as he sees his toothbrush in the toilet.

"O-ouch… Why does it feel like someone is kicking me when I was asleep." Hans feels for his hurting body.

The love-hate relationship continues.

Hans being of sane mind realizes that there is a mysterious force at work. The antics and shenanigans are especially not something he engages in revelry. There is this volatile chemistry between him, the author, and Mira, the heroine.

"Hey, we should stop this…" Hans addresses Mira with sincerity. "I think we should break up."

"Break up? You want me to break up your nose? Huh?" Like a hooligan, Mira finally explodes. "We cannot! Okay? Because Aunt Tammy's forgery of my identity is already complete. And she won't be able to do it again lest the bureau learns of her misdemeanor. Ugh… IF only I know you are such a trashy human being!"

"I am sorry, okay? I don't know why but I freaking love bullying you…"

"Do you hear yourself, bastard? I am a freaking mage so much more superior than you. I have just recently completed my 1st circle around my mana heart, you bastard! Bully me once more, and I will trap you in the realms of a nightmare! Do you know why I like playing dumb and even go as far as to pretend amnesia? It is because it is easier to fool people, and makes it easier for them to not bother me! It is not just because of my Geass, okay? I can just cast magic that amplifies intelligence to counteract my Geass Restriction, but damn, you lying piece of shit! Your real nature revealed itself when you learned I don't have amnesia! You should treat crippled people better like dumb people, weak shits, airheads, and like those who have amnesia! But you? You don't follow the tropes, you freaking abomination of a man!"

"Oh~"

"What oh?

"Ah~! I mean, are idiots really that likable? And what is up with you suddenly talking about tropes?"

"Ugh, of course, they are! Do you not know of the inherent natural goodness of a human?"

"Duh, of course, I know. But you lied. You ain't some disadvantaged person, but a pretender…"

"Ouch… You are right…"

"…"

The tense atmosphere calms down. Mira returns to her seat and opens Masters of Myth to play a round. Hans peeks a look at her thinking that she must be crying, but she is not. This world has a hidden setting unknown to Hans, he comes to realize this too late.

Besides the self-correction of reality brought to the novel, there should also be hidden settings unknown to him, Hans, the author. The 'bullying' has this supernatural force working to it… Hans just cannot help himself but bully the heroine.

Hans's suspicion that he is becoming more of a 'character' in a novel gets stronger and stronger.

At the current trajectory of things, he is destined to become the male protagonist at this point. For this, Hans must find a remedy. "I should change the genre…" With hardened resolve, Hans picks up a packaging tape and marks the apartment, cutting off the flat in the middle.

Mira finishes a round of Masters of Myth in defeat and watches the peculiar Hans. "What are you doing?"

"Setting up rules." Hans nonchalantly replies and explains the motive behind the tape that serves as a boundary line. "From now on, this shall separate our territory. Of course, the laptop is mine, so I will have that portion, the other half of the area, is mine, okay?"

"W-what? How can I play my games? You are so cruel!"

"You suck at games anyway!"

"B-but…"

"Just buy your own laptop!"

"I… I don't know how to put games in it…"

"Ugh… I will help you… Okay?"

Hans decides to transform the genre to rom-com from reversed harem. Mira's first two years should be a slice-of-life genre. However, because of Hans's appearance, it could as well have been a 'reversed harem' genre already. While Hans is the only guy Mira knows. If she manages to befriend another guy, Hans is as good as 'captured' by the heroine.

Not wanting to fall into the trope, Hans decides to dive deeper and simply rely on changing the genre— into a rom-com. Hans's understanding of himself and this world might be limited, but not his understanding of magic and the supernatural forces of this world.

Hans is someone who is crazy about the magic system. The most detailed part of his writing of the Love and Magic novel is its magic system that purely revolves around mysticism, fate, thoughts, and love. Destiny is at play and is screwing over him hard. Even the smallest coincidence in this world might be a result of magic.

Whatever spell is Hans under, he shall not fall to its overpowering currents.

In a world where love rules, Hans shall survive in his own unique ways.
