Christoph did not know what to do. Lawrence's voice in his mind had shocked him. This was too sudden. He was jolted awake by the scream of the young lady looking at him with an expression of pure fear on her face.
This expression took him back to the scene where his mother was killed. His grip on the steering tightened, and he recalled what he promised himself. He did not wish to suffer that same helplessness as he did that day. Thinking about it, Christoph pressed the accelerator and changed the gears.
The car he had was specifically altered to avoid such situations. It was a getaway vehicle. Christoph decided he would not let Christmas suffer the same fate as his parents. The car shot forward, and the young man steered it in a zig-zag to avoid the bullets as much as possible.
Christmas calmed down a bit. The young man rolled down the window and said, "Christmas, hold the steering steady for me, please."
