Christoph could not believe what Evelyn had just said. He asked back in a snappy retort, "So, are we going to kill anyone who mentions the name of the Silvermoon family?"
Evelyn was taken aback and said, "I forgot you do not have a sense of humor. I was talking about silencing them and not killing."
Christoph sighed and said, "Can you just say it how you mean it?"
Evelyn smirked and said, "Melvin, drive faster."
The driver nodded and stepped on the accelerator.
…
A few hours later, Christoph stepped out of the car and helped out Evelyn too. The two of them were standing before the entrance of the Nector Investments, but this time everyone from the top management was there to greet them.
Evelyn took the lead in walking ahead, and Christoph followed half a step behind her. They both had a dignified aura radiating from them. The people standing before them had a lower stature.
Travis said, "Madam, please follow us inside."
However, Evelyn came to a standstill and said, "I heard that you all wish to resign from the management. I respect your decision, and you all have our gratitude for the time and effort you made for the company. Please feel free to leave. As for your stuff in the offices, the company will deliver things to you."
Christoph said, "All your resignation letters can be sent to the desk, and Madam will sign them. However, in the meantime, I would like to ask you people to come and join me at a farewell party."
While he was speaking, he had an uneasy expression on his face. Christoph glanced at Travis, who nodded and said, "Well, that is a good idea."
When he whispered something to Goldberg, Travis saw that none of the people were saying anything. Goldberg was surprised for a second, and then he quickly said, "Yes, it is a good idea."
Christoph asked, "Please follow me. I have booked a private box room for all of us in the Carter."
The people nodded and boarded their vehicles to leave the company compound. Christoph followed them while Evelyn took charge of the company. She was very efficient and did not face any trouble handling such things.
…
Meanwhile, Christoph arrived at the Carter Hotel, and all the management was sitting around the table, sipping on wine. The mood of the room was very gloomy.
The young man smiled charmingly and said, "Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Lawrence C. Silvermoon."
The people gawked at him as soon as this name came out of his mouth. The young man kept talking and said, "You can call me Christoph. I love this name."
The people gulped, and Christoph said, "You might think I called you here for a party, right? Well, you are half correct."
Goldberg stood up from his chair and asked humbly, "Mister Silvermoon, please forgive us. We will return all that we have taken from the company. We did not know that the firm belonged to the Silvermoon Family."
Christoph shook his head and said, "Mister Goldberg, you are thinking too much. I am not asking you to return anything. That you will do on your own because you all are people with conscience, and you know what is right and wrong.
I want to ask if you people can maintain some secrecy about your early retirement. You know that Lady Silvermoon does not like attention. You must have heard a story from Mister Goldberg, but you do not know that many stories were untold."
The people shivered, and they could perceive the threat underlying these words. Christoph told them to make sure that they call this resignation an early retirement and not to drag the Silvermoon name into a mess.
They had no choice but to believe his words. After all, this guy was a Silvermoon himself. Christoph could tell from their expressions what they were thinking, and he leisurely picked up the wine glass on the side to sip the content and asked, "Are we clear?"
The people nodded, and Christoph began talking to them with a kind smile. He acted as if the people in the room were gathered for a joyous occasion. After the dining arrangement ended, the young man called Evelyn and informed her that his threat worked for the people, and they would not say anything but to make sure that the whole thing was foolproof. He wanted to visit them tonight.
Evelyn agreed and told him the company had made a press release, and a press conference was arranged for the following morning. They would soon hold internal reviews to appoint people for the vacated designations. Christoph had no problem with this and headed back to the company.
The two people boarded the vehicle, and Melvin to them to their residence. The old driver said, "This is Art Avenue, one of the city's most prominent and posh residential areas. This entire complex covers an area of ten acres, divided into ten villas—a few celebrities and high-profile business people on the estates.
The security is top-notch. You do not have to worry about anything. Your villa is equipped with all the facilities that you would need."
Christoph nodded and said, "Melvin, if not for knowing what you do for a living, I would have thought you were a real estate guy."
Melvin smiled a bit before he drove the car inside a villa. Evelyn raised her eyebrow when the driver said, "The vehicle is registered in the surveillance system. This prevents the security from barring the owners and getting into trouble."
Evelyn nodded, and soon the car was parked at the entrance of the residential building. Christoph got down, quickly removed the shopping bags from the boot, and placed them all at the door.
He said, "Mister Melvin, you do not need to rush here tomorrow morning. I will drive Miss Evelyn. Please report to the company directly."
Surprised, The old man asked, "Sir, did I do something wrong?"
Christoph shook his head and said, "No, no. I am telling you this because it will save time."
Melvin sighed and nodded before he drove the car out of the villa. Evelyn stood at the door threshold and asked, "Are you sure you want to save time and not spend some of it alone with me?"
Christoph turned around to look at her, and after a pause, he said, "Every time I look at you, I cannot help but recall our first kiss."
His words made the night fall silent all of a sudden.
