Chapter 17 - On The Way To The Silvermoon Manor.

The night flashed away. Evelyn spent most of the time lying in bed while Christoph sat on the floor with his legs crossed. The young man did not say anything or even move an inch. He was avoiding communication with Evelyn.

Before he became a vampire, Christoph was a disciplined guy. His life would move as he wished because he would always try his best for what he wanted. Yet, these past few days, nothing has been in his control.

He was tired of following commands. He knew that the motive behind everything he had been told to do was to make him better understand his new life. But still, he was not satisfied. Despite everything he did in the past, it was always squaring back to his parents.

They were like the lighthouse he used to navigate his way back from the turbulent waters of the world. However, now, despite all the guidance, he felt lost. He felt he had nowhere to go, and everything he did was without reason.

This uncertainty deep in his heart was the reason he was so detached from his surroundings all of a sudden. These bursts of physical intimacy with Evelyn triggered his state of mind. None of those times was he in control.

The sun came up on the horizon, and Christoph opened his eyes. Ever since he had become a vampire, watching a sunrise has become something he looked forward to. He did not know why, but it felt as if this was all he ever wanted to do.

Evelyn sat on the bed and said, "We should leave."

Christoph nodded and got ready too. He did not ask her anything as his mind was all over the place. The room had a spare set of clothing from which he took a plain t-shirt to cover his torso.

Evelyn said, "You should put your weapons here if any hunter is still out there. Taking us down in the day will make things easier for them."

Christoph removed his weapons and picked up the helmet before leaving the room. Evelyn noticed this but did not say anything. State of mind was something that could only be fixed by the person who is in doubt himself.

The two rode their bikes, and Christoph was not hurrying to return to the Silvermoon manor. While cruising the bike, the young man came to the summit of a mountain pass and parked his vehicle on the side. Evelyn had been following him quietly. She was surprised but followed his whim.

The young man got off the bike and came to stand at the edge of the road. He held his helmet and gazed down at skyscrapers piercing the clouds. Evelyn came to stand beside him and asked, "What's on your mind?"

Christoph cast her a glance before he his attention back to the landscape. Evelyn sighed and said, "Something can be solved when you talk about them."

The young man asked, "What do you know about my situation? Do you know who I was before I became this?"

Evelyn shook her head and replied, "I do not, and neither will I be able to understand, even if you say anything. Sometimes when you recount your situation to others, Solutions present themselves.

Walking in the dark does not make people lose their way, but their loneliness makes them go astray. You will find the light if you know what you are looking for, Chris."

Christoph gazed at her, but this time he did not turn away. His eyes were locked with hers as if searching for something. Evelyn also did not avoid his gaze. On the contrary, she stepped closer to him and hugged him.

She whispered in his ear, "You better not tell anyone about this."

Christoph wanted to shove her away, but the lady did not let go. Gradually, the young man succumbed and embraced Evelyn. His eyes became blurry as he shed tears. He did not make any sound, but he finally cried over the death of his parents.

The stuffy and unsatisfactory feeling in his heart gradually dripped away. After almost ten minutes, the two broke away, and Christoph wiped his face clean. He gazed at Evelyn and said, "Thank you."

The lady shook her head without any other expression and asked, "Do you feel any better?"

Christoph nodded, then looking at the city below, he said, "We should leave. Miss Silvermoon must be waiting."

The two revved their bikes and left again. Evelyn did not ask him too many details about anything. She was acting kindly because last night Christoph earned her respect, and decided to help him find a new him.

The two people returned to the Silvermoon Manor. However, while they were riding the bikes. An old man in a gray suit walked through the corridors of the clubhouse. He observed everything with his hands behind his back.

A group of people followed the old man silently. Suddenly the old man stopped and said, "The Silvermoon household is crafty as always."

A burly man behind him asked, "Elder Rise, is anything wrong?"

The old man shook his head and said, "Nothing is wrong. They killed an old retainer to make an example to the rest while adding someone to their ranks. They acted in line with the rules. We cannot take action against them. Trent, do not make the same mistake again."

The old man said that and left the place. Trent was the burly man. He was a hunter who had come over last night to inspect the scene. They discovered the traces of two vampires who came in and killed the rogues. They called for this old man, Elder Rise, to ensure their investigation was correct.

One of the team members asked, "Captain, what mistake did we make for the Elder to scold you?"

Trent sighed and said, "We waited too long, and the Silvermoon family executed Percival."

The crony indignantly clenched his fist and said, "This bitch Silvermoon, this is the third time we have faced a loss. Why can't that old bitch die?"

Trent glared at the guy and said, "Jacob, mind your words. You are a Hunter, not a gangster."

Jacob fell silent. Suddenly, Trent's phone rang. He fished it out of his pocket. He accepted the call, and a calm, aloof voice sounded, "Captain Trent, good morning to you."

Trent replied, "Good Morning. To what do I owe the pleasure of getting a call from the fabled Miss Ambrosia Silvermoon."

Ambrosia replied calmly, ignoring the sarcasm, "Since the investigation has been completed, I would like you and your people to leave my property."

Trent gritted his teeth, and Jacob exploded, "Bitch! Who do you think you are? If I found your thugs, I would kill them all."

Ambrosia replied, "You are welcome to try and touch my people, little puppy. In the meantime, please find a way out of my place."

That said, the call was disconnected, and Trent was left fuming in rage with no option but to walk out of the clubhouse.
