Chereads / My Werewolf Legacy / Chapter 2 - HUNTED

Chapter 2 - HUNTED

To me, this world was full of darkness. I was drowning deep inside in the ocean full of darkness until I found the light of my heart. For so long, I wandered in the shadows, unable to find my way out. But everything changed when I met him When I met Jason. It was as if he was the missing piece of me I didn't even know was missing. Our love bloomed quickly, burning hot and bright like the stars above us.

As we lay there together, tangled in each other's arms, I couldn't help but wonder if this was all just a dream. Had I really found someone who loved and accepted me for who I was? Had I really found happiness?

I'm Ella, and as I sit here now, narrating this story, I can tell you that it wasn't just a dream. It was my reality. The story im going to tell you happened when I was 24 when I found the light of my darkness, when I found him.

I lay next to Jason in bed, the warmth of our bodies radiating between us in the cozy cottage. Basking in the afterglow of our lovemaking, I looked into his eyes and knew that I had finally found my soul mate. "I love you," I whispered softly, and his eyes sparkled with delight.

As we gazed into each other's eyes, our love shone brighter than the stars that glittered in the night sky. The air was filled with the sound of owls hooting and the scent of the forest that surrounded our secluded hideaway. Overwhelmed with joy, I realized that I had finally given myself to the man I loved. Jason was the love of my life, and I had lost my virginity to him. It was a night that I would never forget.

Suddenly the darkness was pierced by shining stars. The owls, who had been singing love songs, now shifted to melancholy melodies. And then, a chilling sound shattered my peaceful night. It was a primal, guttural scream that sent shivers down my spine.

"Aooooooooooooooooooo!"

My heart raced as I recognized the scream - it was Mathew, a member of Team 2, my pack's special Soldier. But why was he screaming with such hatred and pain? With such seek for revenge?

Suddenly, the realization hit me like a ton of bricks. He was coming for him. We Werewolves always give that warning howl before hunting down a human. I knew who the only human was in that area - it was my Light, It was Jason

I then panicked and jumped up out of the bed completely naked, as I transformed myself into a werewolf. I quickly darted over to Jason and yelled urgently, "Hide, Jason! Hide! He's coming. I can hear his sounds getting closer, and I can smell his angry. He's very angry."

Jason was confused, asking too many questions. "Who is coming? What are you talking about? Why should I hide?" But I didn't had the time to explain - the only thing I knew for certain was that He had to get out of here, and fast.

"Team 2 member! He's coming to hunt you!" I yelled at him, my voice filled with urgency. "You have to hide, right now! I'm assure that he's coming after you, and there's a possibility that he's with his team."

I let out a loud yell, "I can smell that he's so near! Jason, hideeeeee!"

Jason quickly came out of bed and removed the blanket he was wearing. As I watched my 6-foot man, shirtless with a muscular physique in his underwear, I couldn't help but blush for a second. Which woman wouldn't blush after watching such a sexy man like this? Anyways, . Jason then quickly hid himself in the closet.

As I was transformed into my werewolf form, I waited for Matthew to arrive. As they approached, I could smell that Matthew was not alone; his five teammates were with him. A pin-drop silence fell upon us for a minute. My werewolf claws then emerged from my fingers.

Suddenly, the door was hit so hard that it flew in the air and hit the bed. Jason, who was in the closet on the right side of the bed, felt the vibration and the anger of the werewolf who hit the door.

I watched as a shadow from the darkness entered the one-room cottage. It was Matthew, but that didn't scare me. What scared me was the five members of Matthew's team who were still outside the cottage, circling and revolving around it. It was clear to me that they came here to hunt Jason because the signs and movements they were giving is what we werewolves do before hunting a human.

"Hey Ella, Long time no see. I guess it's been 6 months since you left the pack for Peace Talk," Mathew said with a smile, as if nothing was wrong.

"What are you here for?" I asked, my voice low and menacing.

"Aren't you clear by our movements, my dear friend? We're here for the human who betrayed us, who killed our comrade, our team leader," Matthew replied

My werewolf claws extended from my fingertips as I growled. I knew exactly who Mathew was talking about. It was Jason, my mate, the man I loved more than anything in this world. And now, he was in danger.

"I'm not going to let you take him," I said, my voice strong and unwavering..

Matthew chuckled. "You don't have a choice, Ella. And who told you that we came here to take him? We came here to kill him!!!!."

"Hey Matthew, let's talk," I said, trying to diffuse the situation. "Looks like someone has manipulated you. Mark wasn't killed by Jason."

"Ohhhhh Jason, interesting name huh?" Mathew sneered. "Rareez were right. These humans cannot be our friends. They're our enemy from the start till now. And wait a minute, why are you defending this disgusted human?"

My eyes got filled with anger, and I roared, "Don't you dare ever call him 'disgust.' You will see my anger."

Mathew's expression darkened, and he smelled that a human's smell were coming out of me. "Ella Ella Ella!!, no, no, no! Don't tell me that you've had sex with this disgust! Our pack will never forgive you for that."

I felt a flash of anger course through my body. I'm the leader of Team 1, one of the most respected pack member and a skilled soldier. I knew that I had to assert my dominance or risk losing the respect of my fellow wolves

"Don't you dare question my loyalty to our pack," I growled. "And don't you ever call him 'disgust' again."

Mathew looked taken aback by my ferocity. I knew he knew better than anyone what I was capable of. But I couldn't let my guard down now, not when Jason's life was on the line.

"Give me that human," Mathew threatened.

"He's not here" I replied.

"Do I look like an idiot to you? I know he's here hiding somewhere. I can smell him. He's near, really near," Mathew replied.

Suddenly, a pin drop silence took over the room. Jason could hear his own breathing as he slowly opened the door of the closet, The door was making the noise in that silent. He stepped out, dressed only in his underwear, and began buttoning his shirt which he took from the closet. Mathew, on the other hand, opened his claws out of his fingers and stuck his ears up, growling menacingly. Jason saw Mathew in anger with no fear and looked into Mathew's eyes.

I stepped forward, my body blocking Mathew's path towards Jason. "Don't you dare touch him," I warned him, my voice low and menacing. I could feel Jason's gratitude for my intervention, but I knew he was capable of handling himself if needed. Still, I wasn't going to take any chances with his safety.

Jason grabbed his pants from the bed and quickly pulled them on, asking Mathew, "What's the problem?"

Mathew's response was sharp and to the point. "You're the leader of Peace Talk from the hunter's side, Mr. Alexander. Or, if I take your full name, Mr. Jason Alexander. Am I right?"

Jason straightened his shoulders and replied. "Yes, I'm the respectable one of the most skillful hunter. Leader of Hunter's Team 3 division and a person who led the human side in the Peace Talk. Do you have any problem with me?" he replied, his voice firm and unwavering.

Mathew clenched his fists, his blood boiling with rage. "I don't have any problem with you. You're the actual problem here," he spat out, growling like an angry animal. Jason tried to calm him down. "Let's talk," he suggested, but Mathew was beyond reason. "There is nothing left to talk, Jason," he replied, his voice heavy with malice.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, a small object flew in through the open window, leaving a trail of smoke behind. It was a 'O' shaped bomb called Wolfsbane, which hunters often used to weaken werewolves. Jason's eyes widened in horror as he recognized the deadly substance. "Ella, don't smell it," he shouted to me desperately. "It will make you weak."

But it was already too late. The bomb had stopped pouring smoke, and I was already on my knees, gasping for air. My body began to transform into a human, and I started coughing uncontrollably. My eyesight got blurred, and I even struggled to take in oxygen. Mathew was standing out of the smoke's range.

I remembered feeling like I was dying at that moment. My vision was blurry, and I couldn't make out much of anything. Wolfsbane? Why I had never heard of that before or have I?. Panic began to set in as I struggled to understand what was happening to me. Suddenly, through the fog, I heard a voice calling out to me. "Hey, come here, candy," the man said, A little girl, playing in the garden with her friend Emma. They were eating MeatAndy, a candy made of meat that was popular among my pack's kids. Little Girl had to leave because her dad came to pick her up. She ran towards him, shouting "Daddyyyyyyyyyy!" He picked her up and held her tight, telling her how much he loved her. She replied, "I love you too, Daddy." He thanked Emma's mom for watching over her daughter and called Emma a good girl. Then, he made me sit on his back and Emma said while waving, 'Bye Ella'. Wait that little girl is me? Yes I remember Emma she is my childhood friend. Then me on the Dad's back started walking towards our home.

I remember walking down the road that snaked through the dense forest in my father's back. "Daddy, who would I marry?" I asked him innocently. He smiled down at me and ruffled my hair affectionately.

Father smiled down at me and replied, "Hmm, probably a prince, my dear."

My eyes got widened in excitement as I asked, "Who would that prince be, Daddy?"

Chuckling, my father replied, "I don't know, my love, but I'm sure he'll be handsome and brave."

Little me thought for a moment before asking, "Can I marry you, Daddy?"

My Father's expression grew serious as he gently replied, "No, my sweet Ella, that wouldn't be possible."

As we continued walking towards the home, a sudden disturbance in the air caught my father's attention. A wolfsbane bomb fell in front of us, startling my father. He watched the bomb with horror before turning his attention back to me, I remember I was still talking to him. In a split second, he transformed into a werewolf and leaped into the bushes just in time to avoid the explosion.

"Wolfsbane?" I remembered that bomb uhhhh yes I saw it for the first time when it was used to weakened my dad. It happened when I was like six years old, walking home with my father when suddenly he was attacked. "But what happened after that? I can't remember," I remember I was in bushes and how my dad had turned to me in his werewolf form and said, "Ella, wait here and hide in the bushes. Don't come out until I say, okay?" He kissed my head and left. I had waited there with MeatAndy, listening to the sounds of the intense fight. I had been scared, but I knew my dad would come back for me.

The next day, I was rescued by a group of people. But when they found me, I stubbornly refused to leave, telling them 'My dad had told me to wait'. Then one of the rescuers said something that made me feel a little bit more comfortable: "I'm your dad's friend. Let's go, Ella. Your mom is looking for you."

"I remember the rescuer was so sweet. He lifted me up in his arms and started asking me tons of questions like, "What do you love the most?" I thought for a moment before answering, "I love MeatAndy a lot." It was obvious I was going to say that; MeatAndy was my favorite candy at that time. The rescuer smiled and said, "Oh, MeatAndy, I'll buy you as much as you want." After talking for a few minutes, he realized I was tired and said, "Now you should rest, Ella. We are going back home."

I then slept after that and when my eyes got opened I remember rescuer knocking on the door of our house. My mom, who had been waiting anxiously for any news of me, rapidly opened the door as she was waiting there. When she saw the rescuer with me in his arms, relief washed over her face. "We have found Ella finally," the rescuer told my mom. He then handed me over to my mom, who held me tightly.

As soon as I was safely in my mom's arms, she asked the rescuer, "Have you found out what was the reason and who killed my husband?" The rescuer hesitated for a moment before replying, "We can't share much, but according to my knowledge as we all know that your husband was going to lead the peace talk between humans and werewolves from our side. According to our information, the man who killed your husband was the leader of rogue werewolves from Rareez community. His name was Galli..."

Suddenly, I was jolted awake by Jason shouting my name. I looked around, disoriented, and realized I was no longer in my house. I was still in that small cottage, and Jason and Mathew were there with me. As I tried to piece together what had happened, a werewolf named Emma who is a member of Team 2 and my childhood ex-bestfriend aswell attacked Jason from behind, breaking the wooden backside of the cottage. But Jason was quick on his feet, dodging Emma's attack. "Did you forget I just told you a moment ago that I'm one of the most skillful hunters?" Jason taunted Mathew and Emma.

Emma growled in response, and Mathew replied, "Ohhh, so you're challenging us?" He then let out a deafening scream, "Aooooooooooooooooooo," that was heard by the four werewolves outside the cottage. The sound of destruction followed, as the werewolves began to tear down the cottage.

I lay half-fainted on the ground, my vision blurry as I watched the werewolves decimate the cottage in couple of moments they destroy the whole cottage. Six specially trained werewolves, and only Jason to fight them. He dodged Emma's second attack with ease, but the realization hit him hard – he had nothing to fight with. No sword, no arrows and bow, not even his hunter suit. He was defenseless, and his only thought was to save me. But how could he?

"There is nothing right now I can do," Jason muttered to himself. "I'm suitless, gadgetless. Also, I'm standing alone in front of six specially trained werewolves. There is nothing I can do except running or die. What will happen to Ella if I die?"

Suddenly, Mathew stepped forward, growling. "You guys stay away," he said. "I'll take him."

Jason braced himself, knowing he was in for a tough fight. Mathew jumped towards him to attack him and he tried to dodge Mathew's attack, but Mathew was too quick. With a swift kick, he sent Jason crashing to the ground. For a moment, Jason went unconscious, and I struggled to call out to him, to tell him to run.

After some seconds he regained consciousness, he stood up and prepared to fight again. "I don't have any gadgets right now to fight, neither do I have my sword or arrows and bow," he said. "But I won't give up. I have to save Ella."

Jason ran towards Mathew, ready to fight with all his might. He hit Mathew hard in the chest, but to his surprise, nothing happened. Mathew merely smirked at him.

"Doesn't matter if you're a 6-feet-tall muscular human, Jason," Mathew said. "I'm a werewolf, Second leader and the 2nd most powerful member of the 2nd most powerful team of the Special Division from our pack. You're helpless in front of me, especially without your hunter suit and without any gadget."

With lightning speed, Mathew took hold of Jason's hands and broke his joints. Jason screamed in agony, and I called out his name, half-conscious. Emma stood near to me, was trying to give me courage not knowing how much anger I have right now in myself for her.

"Don't worry, Ella. Everything will be alright," Emma said.

Jason watched me struggling and then he yelled at Emma, "Stay away from her!"

He kicked Mathew's legs, causing him to fall, and then started to kick Mathew's face. Mathew's werewolf's nose was so broke that it stopped smelling, and his team members felt him in danger. They attacked Jason one by one, cutting him and giving him wounds. Emma even bit his leg, causing him to fall.

Mathew stood up and said, "Was that it? Mr Leader. This is for our comrade, for our brother Mark."

"I didn't kill Mark," Jason replied.

"Shut up, you disgust," Mathew spat.

Mathew put his claws under Jason's body, and I yelled Jason's name with the pain and power. Mathew pulled Jason's heart out and exploded it with his hands. I wasn't able to do anything. I thought it was a dream. I left my consciousness for some moments.

"He is finally hunted," Mathew declared.

He then ordered his teammates to leave towards the pack, and Emma stopped him.

"What about Ella? Why aren't we taking her?" Emma asked.

"She is a traitor. She slept with our enemy and took her side fought us. Let her die like that," Mathew replied coldly.

Emma first hesitated to leave without me but she had to follow the orders. After Team 2 left, I dragged my weakened body towards Jason, barely able to move, hoping to see him alive. With tears in my eyes and a painful smile on my face, I came close to him. But my hopes were shattered when I saw him lifeless, his heart ripped out. Shocked and unable to believe what I was seeing, I whispered to myself, "It's just a dream. Wake up, Ella. You're still unconscious because of the Wolfsbane bomb." I closed my eyes and opened them again, but the sight remained the same. Jason was still lying there, dead.

In a frenzy of despair, I shook his body, crying out his name. "Jason, Jason, wake up baby, wake up!" When there was no response, I screamed with all the power I had in my body, "Nooooooo!" My tears fell like rain as I vowed, consumed by anger and grief. I transformed into a werewolf, my rage spilling out into the night.

Out of the pain and rage, I said, "I will never forgive you. I will never forgive any of you. I will take your revenge, my Prince. I'm coming, Mathew." The thought of losing Jason, the love of my life, was too much to bear. It felt like the world had come crashing down on me, and I was left alone in the darkness again.
