Chapter 17 - Relentless In The Face of Challenge

After confronting the android, I reserved myself for gravity training, figuring I'd need to get stronger to fight King Cold on an even footing. This led to Syn having to spend his days with the Moginaians, the consequences of which were... interesting.

Over the course of a month, after some modification made by Syn, I was able to train in up to 150 times gravity, however, constant assailment from the Cold Force, such as now...

In front of me stood a group of what I'd best guess to be 15 individuals, each equipped in the same attire, a flashy black and yellow armor.

One of the soldiers fired a blast at the moginaians town, swatting it away it shot off into the horizon, creating an explosion far off in the distance.

"Seems like zero is a tad more capable than what we reckoned," an arrogant soldier commented.

God what a dumb nickname, couldn't it have been something cooler... I thought to myself.

I sensed that collectively they were about half as strong as me.

Can't be vain against these guys... I thought to myself.

"How about we take this away from the village..." I cautiously asked.

A laugh spread through their rank, and the strongest of them retorted, "Care about those savages do ya?"

Snapping his fingers, the soldiers pointed their hands at the village, charging a beam.

"You'll either come with us or they will suffer the consequences," the leader taunted.

Putting my hands to my side, I took a deep breath, unleashing my aura, causing a red warmth to explode from my body.

Reaching forward a tingling aura encompasses the soldiers.

One of the soldiers frustratingly fumes as he tries his best to move, "The hell, I can't- move!"

Their leader manages to barely break free with a desperate transformation, just his squad is sent surging into outer space at breakneck speed.

Exhaling, I calm my aura, letting the force of Kaioken escape me.

In a deep and violent voice, the leader comments in shock and awe, "My team!" Quickly looking back at me, "I'll kill you, bastard!"

Rushing toward me the shockwave blows a torrent of high-speed winds swirling around us, trees violently thrash from the exchange, each blow sending a quiver through the air.

Grabbing my wrists, I'm thrown into the ground, narrowly avoiding catastrophic damage to the terrain.

As he rushes toward me I adjust my footing, preparing to halt his advance.

Colliding with me, my feet are trusted into the dirt, the force cracking the earth beneath me.

Grabbing his fists I rapidly spin, sending him flying into the horizon, far off in the distance an explosion crackles out.

Leaping into the air I surge toward him, closing the gap as he brings himself to his feet, meeting me halfway.

Our fists crack against one another causing the air to heat up from the violent display of power.

A slight sting bites at my nerves and my fist numb from the assault on them.

Through heavy breaths, the leader shouts at me, "I am Grand Commander Kuzak, one of the strongest members of the New Cold Force," his power reaches its peak, and a reinvigorated Kuzak declared loudly, "You can't beat me!"

Putting my hands up, I calm my nerves, clearing my mind as my aura grows tinged with the fire of Kaioken.

Kuzak's upper body is suddenly engulfed in a firey covering of ki, rippling through the air like a deadly mirage, "Even King Cold complimented this technique, some pathetic nobody like yourself stands no chance!"

Bracing my right arm with my left, I condense the force of Kaioken into the tip of my finger, a forceful aura radiating from it without end.

Like a blur Kuzak rips forward, leaving an explosion in his wake, "Die you mother fucker!" Kuzak roared as he lunged at me.

Flowering forward a thunderous surge of ki blitzed Kuzak, suddenly an arm lighter.

Flopping forward Kuzak rolled and spun without inhibition, eventually coming to a still stop several meters behind me.

Veins bulging and steam slowly dissipating from my form, I breathe for a moment before turning around to approach Kuzak.

Dusting myself off, I find myself standing over Kuzak, groveling in pain and pointlessly trying to stop his bleeding.

Through shallow breaths and guttural words, Kuzak spoke venomously, "You god damn nobody... just you wait- until King Cold... hears about this!"

Crouching down next to Kuzak, I ask, "Despite the fact you came here to hurt me and destroy what I care about, I'm still willing to give you a quick death if you want."

Looking up at me Kuzak, grinned before an intense energy cracked around him, "Eat this!"

Recognizing the move as a self-destruct I quickly vaporized his body with a blast of energy, leaving a quake through the earth and a voluminous boom to careen through the air.

As the dust settled, nothing remained of him, and as quickly as it had begun, it had ended.

Flying back I quickly landed, walked into the ship, and grabbed myself a drink.

Distant footsteps gradually neared, with Syn soon arriving at the ship, breathing heavily.

"Are you okay!" Syn asked earnestly.

Taking a long drink of water, I let out a long sigh of relaxation, before responding, "Yeah, I'm fine, is the village okay?"

Calming down, Syn caught his breath as he responded, "Village is fine, whenever you gave the word I moved all of the Moginaians out of the village, they're currently making their way back from the cave."

Nodding my head I finished my drink, setting the glass in the sink, before continuing, "I believe that makes the tenth attack, am I correct?"

Thinking for a moment, Syn corrects me, "Actually that was the eleventh..."

"Doesn't make it any better, I've still got business to tend to it seems, I should be strong enough to handle Cold now," I explained while I struggled to peel an orange.

Walking forward, Syn took the orange from my hand, peeling it while speaking, "King Cold is the strongest being in the universe, the smart thing to do is leave the planet with the Moginaians."

"Using what ship, this one certainly can't handle that many," I remarked.

Handing the peeled orange back to me, Syn retorted, "If they keep attacking us with those small ships they come in we could eventually have enough to bring everyone."

Eating a slice of orange, I retort, "They might not be the smartest, but from what I've seen they care about their world, they don't want to leave."

Exasperated, Syn responds, "So then what, if you go get yourself killed by Cold we're next!"

"Who said I'm dying, I know how strong he is," finishing the last slice, I continue, "I'll take one of their ships to Cold's, kick his ass then I'll head on back to pick you up."

Confused, Syn asks, "Why wouldn't I just go with you?"

Shaking my head, I retort, "Not a chance, last thing we need is for you to be held hostage, then he's got us by the balls."

"What does that mean?" Syn asked in bewilderment.

Remembering he isn't human, I thump myself in the forehead, before turning to respond, "It's a saying, it just means that were backed into a corner and we would be at his mercy."

"Your language is certainly strange..." Syn commented.

By sunrise I'd gathered what I would need for my journey, carefully packing it into a small ship we had commandeered from the New Cold Force.

As I slung a backpack over my shoulder, the saibamen approached me, possessed by a sort of confidence.

Looking at them for a moment, I eventually realize their intent, "You all deserve more than to be weapons, on this planet you can become something more."

Seemingly stern in their decision, the saibamen stand their ground, bringing a smile to my face, "It seems you're all on that path already."

Placing my bag on the ground, I turn to face them, declaring, "Whenever I planted you all, I used you like tools, but look at you now, defiantly opposing me."

"How about a fight for the road eh?" I asked.

A smile stretched across the faces of the saibamen as they each assumed their own unique stance.

What a sight, it makes me truly happy to have made them... I thought to myself.

Jumping toward me each saibamen struck at me with blows toward my face, chest, and stomach.

Grabbing an approaching saibamen by the fist I spun around, tossing him behind me before flowing into a kick, thrusting my foot into a still saibamen's chest.

A saibamen lunged at me, a wide arcing swing racing toward my face. Narrowly ducking, I quick punch to the chest sent the saibamen sky high.

Without relenting, a swift kick strikes the back of my knees, shaking my legs, as another saibamen planted a powerful punch to my chest, and forced me onto my back.

Two saibamen plunged from the air to plummet into my chest with a stomp. Rolling to the left I narrowly avoid them, kicking myself up off the ground, I'm grazed by a ki blast which was sent careening toward me from the distance.

Tucking my arms into my chest I condense my energy as the saibamen race toward me. Throwing my arms outward I kiai blows them back, alongside a tide of dust.

Recomposing themselves, the saibamen breathing heavily, while only my clothes have taken damage.

Two beams of energy zip toward me while three of the saibamen run alongside them. Reaching forward I concentrate my focus on the beams, controlling them I clasp my hands together, causing them to suddenly explode, blowing the approaching saibamen away.

Through the smoke, two saibamen lunge toward me, each holding a dense sphere of energy in their hand.

Pointing my fingers toward their hands, I fire two weak beams of energy, detonating the spheres in their hands.

Leaping backward the other three saibamen erupt from the dissipating smoke, attacking at an afterimage.

Throwing my hands into the air, crackling energy builds in my hands, before erupting into dozens of thin beams of homing energy.

Assailing them like a swarm of insects the attacks pepper their guard. Closing the gap, I thrust my knee into the stomach of a saibamen, sending them flying backward into a tree.

Dropping to the ground, I sweep the feet of two saibamen, before flipping backward, missing a fast beam of energy by a singed hair.

Flipping through the air lets me charge a blast of energy in my hands, letting me send a surge of energy toward the downed saibamen.

Crashing into them a crater is forced into the ground, pounding against the saibamen forcefully.

A large well of energy sends any unsettled dust or smoke rushing away, as two saibamen charge an attack as one, with potent electric-like arcs crackling out from the two of them.

Another saibamen recovers the incapacitated two that rest in the crater, narrowly escaping behind the soon-after blast of energy which was sent surging toward me.

Calming myself, I put my hands in front of me, that blast of energy smashing into my hands as I take the brunt of the attack.

Slowly, the blast of energy narrows, until eventually, it flows into me completely.

Drained, the saibamen collapse to the ground, snoring away peacefully with a sense of satisfaction.

Letting out a large puff of hair, I exasperatedly exclaim, "Holy shit they've gotten good!"

A tingle in my hands is the sensation I feel during my inspection of them, wiping the filth from them off.

Picking up the saibamen with telekinesis, I carefully rest them inside the capsule corp ship.

Syn approaches me, asking, "How long do you think you'll be gone?"

Slinging my backpack over my shoulder once more, I respond, "I'll try to make it quick," walking toward a New Cold Force ship I throw my hand up and wave, saying, "Once I get back first place on our journey's going to be Earth, got some loose ends I need to tie up."
