Clay's eyes practically popped out of their sockets as he read the skills description, after all, it's not every day that you see a skill that practically made you invincible.

'Should I hug unto the golden thigh of that being?' Clay was seriously considering whether to be a boot-licker of the mysterious being.

'Wait a minute, could that mysterious being be the same person I encountered weeks ago?' Clay felt that it was probable that the man in black that gave him the materials he needed to make a map, was also the being in question that interfered with his system and did all of these things.

Clay closed the prompt since he didn't want to see a screen filling his vision while he was brooding or thinking about a subject too deeply.

But just as Clay clicked on the 'x' button at the top left corner of the screen, another prompt appeared.

*Ding!*

<|$^)%#$%'s Gift| activated, host is invulnerable for 7 seconds>

'What? How did it activate?' Clay thought in confusion as he looked around.

5 seconds were left for his invulnerability.

He looked out the window seeing that there was nothing wrong in his room.

His eyes widened the moment he saw what was happening outside.

3 seconds.

On the street where there were people walking something was terribly amiss, emphasis on the 'were' part because the walking pedestrians weren't walking, in fact, they were stuck in place as if someone had stopped time, and the sky was a dull shade of grey, the birds too, were stuck in the air without moving like gravity had been turned off by a switch.

There was 1 second left as Clay basked in this horrific view, Clay looked down at his hands and saw that they were slowly turning grey like the sky.

Clay's ability ended.

He blinked and looked out the window.

The sky was the normal healthy shade of blue again, the birds were continuing their migration route as if nothing had happened, and the pedestrians were walking about unknown to what had just happened to all of them.

Still in shock, Clay checked his body to make sure he wasn't hurt in any way.

The whole ordeal reminded him of the description of the time-stop watch he saw in his system shop once. What had just happened moments ago eerily had the exact same effect the time-stop watch's description says.

Still with his heart pounding madly against his chest Clay was hunted by the thought of not knowing how long he had been in the 'freeze' state.

His ability could only protect him for 7 seconds, but there was no guarantee that time had stopped for that long as well, for all Clay knew, time could have stopped for 1 year and no one would know that time even stopped, no one except Clay of course.

It frightened Clay to no end that he hadn't known how long he had been frozen.

And what if time is being stopped now? Clay wouldn't notice because his ability wasn't available.

This feeling of not being in control of his life reminded him of the time he had first read the fate scissors description. It was unpleasant, very much so.

But Clay wasn't the type of person who would go to sleep hoping that he wouldn't die, ok, maybe he is the type of person to do that, but Clay at least isn't the type of person to get demoralized by a threat looming over him, rather, he would get motivated to overcome the threat or at least make it go from a threat to a slightly scary hazard that he should pay attention to.

And in order to turn that threat into a controllable variable, Clay had to get stronger, much more stronger than he was now.

Clay clenched his fists at his own weakness.

'If someone could interfere with my system, what's stopping others from doing so as well?' Clay thought as he lamented at his lack of power.

Clay shuddered at the thought of his life and death being controlled by people he doesn't even know.

'I've got to get stronger, and fast, who knows if that mysterious being would suddenly attack me' A powerful resolve lit up Clay's eyes as he began thinking about how to get stronger.

'My system rating changed, now it doesn't say a letter, it changed to an unknown symbol instead, does that mean my rewards for my quests changed? Is that the reason why I got an exaggerated number of rewards for completing that achievement?'

'System, open beginnings 5 quest'

*Ding!*

Quest name: Beginnings(5)|

\Create five Tier 5 Maps/

{Create five maps of the Tier 2 rank (3/5}

Quest rewards: 1000 SC, 500 EXP, and 70 Stat Points|

Quest Failure Penalty: -10 experience|

Quest Time Limit: 3 Months|

'So the rewards DID increase, great, it's gonna be so much easier getting stronger now' Clay was relieved that the system rating was not just a display.

'So doesn't that mean my title for having an f class system is gone now? People won't make fun of me anymore, right? But they might not believe it even if I said my system rating changed, the damage has already been done, and there is no changing it. And if I did tell people that my system rating changed, that would only attract unwanted attention, and I've got plenty of attention on my hands already' Clay sighed as he thought of the people who gave him weird looks while he was selling his maps, after all, Clay was still a teenager, it made him uncomfortable being stared at like he was some sort of exotic animal.

The turtle looked on with a curious gaze as it hadn't seen someone take the initiative to attack it for a long time.

It had missed the feeling of being seen as prey, but prey it was not.

The creature that had walked out from the bush was a wolf, very much smaller than the turtle which was more than double its size, it had glistening silver fur and agile-looking legs, and it was less than half the size of the turtle when it stood on two legs.

The wolf then circled the turtle for a while, observing any weaknesses it could exploit.

The turtle didn't know where the confidence of the creature came from, could be that the wolf was much more stronger than it looked? Or was it just the piercing pain of hunger that had driven this wolf to madness that it even dared attack the turtle which was clearly bigger than it?

The turtle was confused.

The wolf bared its fangs at the turtle that was staring at the wolf as if it was just staring at an ant.

Then, the wolf jumped toward the stationary turtle with so much strength that the dirt beneath the wolf had been flung, it arrived at the side of the turtle in the blink of an eye, a classic area to attack foes bigger than yourself in the animal kingdom.

The wolf bit down at the shell of the turtle which had unamused eyes.
