Drake and Kaesir continued walking through the narrow dirt streets of Aldeia Deore, few words were exchanged during the entire journey, which took about 5 minutes.
The sound of shouting and people talking soon became evident. Moving closer, Drake noticed a large training ground. There were many young people of all ages and genders.
Drake glanced at Kaesir, who was looking in a certain direction with a smile on his face. Looking toward the direction, Drake noticed a girl, practicing with a bow.
She looked 16-17 years old, her clothes showed off some of her well-built muscles, but that didn't detract from her femininity. Her skin was lightly tanned by the sun, she had a short haircut, a little shorter than Drake's. Her hair was brown and her eyes were light brown, like Kaesir's.
Her bow stance looked pretty good, not that Drake knew much about archery. The arrow that was tensioned on her bowstring was released.
With a swoosh
It hit the target, piercing it, leaving only the arrow's feathers showing.
Kaesir, taking advantage of the opening, approached, taking the girl's concentration away.
" Frey, let's eat " Kaesir said with a big smile, not showing the serious side that Drake knew outside the walls.
The girl looked at Kaesir, but before answering, she looked down at the figure next to Kaesir. Looking the teenager up and down. She murmured to Kaesir, trying to be subtle.
" Dad, who is this cute kid? "
Kaesir did a facepalm, the girl was having the same reaction as her mother...
Drake, overhearing, had deja vu. With a small sigh, he resolved to rush through his presentation.
"I'm Drake Crimson, nice to meet you" Drake made his salute short.
Frey hearing Drake's last name was a little surprised, but his reaction quickly returned to normal.
"I'm Frey de Deore, nice to meet you Drake" She said with a smile, extending her hand to Drake.
Drake accepted her handshake, she had a firm grip, which Drake thought was nice.
Kaesir coughing, interrupted their interactions.
" So let's go? "
" Yes! " Frey replied with enthusiasm.
With a bit of walking, they soon arrived at Kaesir's house.
Arriving there, they went to eat. Drake couldn't keep up with the speed at which the barbarians ate, but he wasn't embarrassed. Finishing his meal, leaning back in his chair, his stomach contained an almost supernatural swelling.
From the information Kaesir had told Drake, there would soon be another wave of attacks. Goblins were nocturnal, so possibly today or tomorrow, there would be some action.
Drake felt drowsy after eating, he felt an urge to lie down and hibernate for a few years. Turning away from the kitchen, and walking towards the guest room. He threw himself on the bed and fell asleep.
In the kitchen
Kaesir had a serious expression, the situation with the goblin horde was not as normal as it seemed. There was a reason for the delay in Viburg's reply. As for the Crimson family, Dante likely knew the motives behind the horde.
The village of Deore withheld the information as much as they could, but over time, it was inevitable that it would come to the attention of the people.
Recently during explorations at a mine near Deore. They found a mana stone stuck in a dark rock. Upon drawing the mana stone from the dark rock, the stone naturally began to emit an intoxicating fragrance for monsters and supernatural beings.
The mana stone could be used to draw mana at accelerated rates as long as there was control by the user.
The town of Viburg, noticing the Goblins' movements, probably deduced that there was something of value in the village. His intent in his unresponsiveness towards reinforcement was suspect. There might even be a chance that they invade the village in their weakened state.
Goblins were low-intelligence beings, easily swayed by their instincts. However, their waves of attacks were organized, making Kaesir suspect that there would be a leader among the goblins.
Kaesir, as the leader of Deore, was keeping the mana stone in his residence. They were still studying how they should use the mana stone, but time was not on their side.
Everything was lined up like a chess game. The city of Viburg, the goblins, the survival of the Deore village, and now, a Crimson member.
Kaesir, being realistic, realized that the Deore village's chances of survival were low. He even considered using his daughter to seduce Drake, which could open up a possibility for his family's survival.
Looking at his wife and daughter Kaesir said.
"Rest for now, I don't have a good feeling about today" his voice sounded heavy.
Fen and Frey nodded, leaving, leaving Kaesir alone.
The time has passed.
The sun was setting, turning the sky an orange hue. In the distance, the darkness of night could be seen, which was slowly engulfing the world.
The village of Deore was being lit by torches, scattered throughout the city, every house and tower. Creating a magnificent vision.
Drake had just awakened from his slumber. Getting up and stretching a little, he went outside.
He liked the view it extended over the Deore village, but he didn't get to enjoy much. Looking at the darkness in the distance, he didn't feel the comfort he normally felt, he felt something like danger?
Feeling the sense of urgency within him, Drake smiled. He wouldn't have to wait long before he could unlock his sword, leaving him mildly excited.
Footsteps sounded close by Drake. Looking in the direction, he saw Frey.
Frey approached with a smile.
"You look excited, Drake"
" I am, looks like it will start soon right? " Drake said.
Standing beside Drake, she nodded. She was a little taller than Drake, making him look like a little brother next to her.
Looking at him, Frey asked.
" Have you fought monsters before?"
"No, only with humans" Drake said with a thoughtful expression.
Drake and Frey exchanged a few words. He felt comfortable around her, from the short time they had known each other, he felt embraced by her family members.
So they spent a few minutes. Until a trumpet sound erupted from the towers around the village, echoing and causing vibrations throughout the village.
Drake and Frey hurried towards the main gate.
There were several warriors. Already prepared in formation, ready to start the hunt.
Kaesir was at the front of the group, wielding a long spear, he was a motivational speech to boost the warriors' morale.
"FOR OUR FAMILY!" Kaesir shouted, causing the warriors to roar, following his lead. The energy of the barbarians was tuned towards only one goal, to fight.
Drake felt touched by the contagious energy, sketching a smile, he prepared himself mentally.
"OPEN THE GATES!" Kaesir roared.
The double wooden gate, with a creak, began to open. Danvo sees a long flat field with forests engulfed in darkness in the background.
The warriors positioned themselves in battle position in an organized way. There were warriors of almost all ages, with the exception of children and the elderly.
Drake positioned himself close to the front line, he was a melee fighter, but he didn't decide to act rashly. Preferring to stay a little behind to observe how the goblins would approach.
He didn't have to wait long.
In the distance, a faint hum can be heard.
Little by little a sound grew louder, bringing with it vibrations caused by its movement. Bestial screams and snarls came from the direction of the dark forest.
Like a herd of enraged bulls. A large group of goblins came out of the forest, running angrily as they screamed. Most of them seemed to be holding weapons made of stone, while their clothing was limited to animal skins, with some even completely naked.
Their total number was unknown, more and more, their numbers increased, as they leapt from the darkness that snaked through the forest.
They were approaching, about 50 meters away. Drake followed the barbarians who likewise shouted and charged.
Both groups that resembled small armies approached, about to collide head-on.
Kaesir, who led the army, was the first to collide with the goblin herd. Swinging his huge spear like a staff, the tip of his spear cut off about 6 goblins that were in front of him.
Individually the goblins were weak, but they were as numerous as an insect infestation.
Goblins escaped Kaesir's onslaught, while they lurked trying to overrun the barbarian army.
The shield-wielding warriors tried to block the goblins' onslaught, being pushed back by their sheer numbers and combined strength.
Drake, who was behind the barrier of shields, saw that few goblins were about to sneak through the cracks. Seeing a greenish face with yellow eyes and a twisted expression over the shield of a barbarian.
Drake without hesitation. He thrust his sword in a thrusting motion.
Pwosh
Blood trickled down his blade, causing the light in the monster's eyes to dim.
Drawing back his blade, the goblin's body was pressed against the shield as his blade dragged, slipping from the goblin's head.
Incessant crashing sounds sounded around him. The cries of pain from both sides carried an air of savagery.
Drake's hands were shaking.
This environment, Drake liked it.
On Drake's face, a fierce smile took shape.
