Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 - Goblin Leader

The battlefield was in turmoil.

The sound of clashing weapons and screams filled the battlefield.

The barbarians managed to stop the goblins' onslaught momentarily, creating a stalemate in both armies.

At the back, where Frey was, they prepared to unleash their wave of arrows.

"ARCHERS" Kaesir shouted, as he transitioned between defenses and attacks on the front lines.

"FIRE!"

With the sound of his voice, the sound of many things cutting through the wind passed through the sky above Drake. Dozens of arrows passed over the barbarians, heading towards the goblin army.

With just a wave of arrows, dozens of goblins fell or were seriously injured.

But it seemed that the more goblins they killed, the more they appeared. The goblins knew no fear, their bestial ferocity was being brought out in the midst of this chaos.

Drake was doing his part, right behind the front line, dealing with all the monsters that threatened to break through the barrier.

The goblins were trying to sneak over and under the barbarians' shields, which came face to face with Drake's sword.

Swish

Drake's sword split a goblin's head in half, gushing blood and exposing the entire inner part of its brain.

Drake was previously excited, but now, he was bored. Fighting in a defensive position was not his style. Few minutes have passed since the battle started. The barbarians were holding up well until the present moment.

The rate at which the goblins were appearing seemed to have slowed down a bit. Kaesir noticing, shouted.

" ATTACK! "

The barbarians who were in a defensive position suddenly rushed forward, pushing everything in their path, but not completely moving away from the long-distance warriors.

Drake sensing the opportunity, stepped forward.

The shield-wielding warriors stopped at a certain distance. Now, the melee warriors allowed themselves to run madly through whatever goblins there were.

Drake, stepping over the body of one of the squires, leapt off the barrier. Landing ahead, his vision found a field of over 50 goblins, and their numbers continued to grow.

Drake advanced on the nearest goblin in front of him. His sword drew an arc, which seemed to glow in the night. Crashing through the goblin's neck, he didn't even stop, continuing his charge.

Right ahead was a small group of 4 goblins. the one closest to Drake tried to hit with his ax made of stone. His movements were predictable, but there was a certain ferocity behind them that Drake didn't want to physically test.

With a slight tilt of his body, Drake took advantage of his swing, thrusting his sword toward where the goblin's throat should have been. He ran ahead.

The goblin looked at Drake confused that he ignored him, but before he could react, the cut on his neck began to drain all his blood.

As the three goblins approached, Drake took the initiative to kick a goblin in the stomach. His kicking power pushed the goblin, hampering the advance of his companion who was following behind.

Moving towards the goblin that was alone, Drake gave a little push with his feet. Sending out his sword with a thrust, it pierced the goblin's neck. The other two goblins were already about to attack him from behind.

Swiveling his feet, he took advantage of their kinetic strength. His sword seemed to bend as it made its way in a diagonal line through the two remaining goblins in that group. His attack cut through his enemies with little resistance. causing their bodies to split, exposing a torrent of blood and internal organs.

With that little test, Drake realized what his current limit was for dealing with goblins. He hadn't used the bloodline yet, but he would have to consider the collateral effect.

Moving forward, he continued his assault on the goblins.

Where Drake passed. the swing of his sword would create a magnificent sight of spilling blood, which surprised some watching barbarians.

Kaesir saw the opportunity to bring his army's morale to the fore.

" WILL YOU BE HUMILIATED BY A CHILD?!! " Kaesir roared

In a unison shout, a few warriors charged forward, their war cries at the top of their lungs.

There were few warriors who ventured forward into the goblin horde. Besides Drake, there were 3 Novice Knights and Kaesir, who was in the middle position.

Not much time had passed since the little war started, but it was already putting a certain amount of mental strain on Drake. For some reason, he had a feeling something else was about to happen.

The goblin spawn rate had drastically decreased, causing their numbers to become smaller and smaller.

Drake was currently on the front lines, he was at what he considered a relatively safe distance from the forest.

The sky was already almost completely dark, the sunlight made the sky line towards the horizon slightly orange.

Looking at the forest, the darkness of the night created dark shadows, which in the midst of the trees, seemed to bring out a feeling of terror.

Drake stopped whatever he was doing. There were no enemies around him, just the little sound of fighting coming from some barbarians.

He was looking at the forest with a serious expression. Whatever was there, it was causing Drake an uneasy feeling. His eyes lingered in the darkness that snaked through the forest.

When a loud sound, with a steady rhythm, seemed to approach. It felt like something heavy was walking towards them. Just the vibration of the sound of their "footsteps" caused the entire forest to tremble.

Some trees were falling as the sound got closer.

The trees that surrounded the Deore village were quite tall, they could be 7 meters high if not more.

From the darkness of the forest. A huge, dark green hand erupted from the darkness, pushing aside the tree that stood in its path.

At the height of 5 meters high, a head came out of the darkness. Giving vision to a huge face full of scars and wrinkles. Protruding pointed teeth protruded from the bottom of his lips. There was even hair, which was heavily pulled back.

His greenish skin contrasted sharply with his bestial yellow eyes, which seemed to glow amidst the darkness.

When the eyes of the beast saw that almost all of his soldiers had perished. An expression of hatred took over his features, the gleam of intelligence he seemed to previously contain, was overcome by anger.

Looking at the small beings who stared at him in disbelief. The huge being opened its mouth and roared towards the heavens.

"AAARRRGHHHHHHH!"

The sound seemed to be causing wind pressure, which seemed to distort the air near his mouth. Forcing all the little beings to stop their actions and hold their heads in an attempt to plug their ears.

Drake felt like the sound was tearing at his ears, his brain felt like it was being squeezed from all directions. Forcing his hands over his ears and bending over he resisted, gritting his teeth.

A few seconds passed, but the roar didn't seem to end, causing many to faint.

When the roar ceased. A few barbarians had already fallen to the ground with their ears bleeding and eyes rolling.

Kaesir, was relatively well for having protected himself with aura, but his expression showed terror. In the distance was a being that even he didn't have the confidence to fight head-on.

An Orc.

With heavy steps, the Orc stomped out of the forest, towards the small humans. His body, with muscles that looked like they were about to explode, showed, there was something like armor on one of his shoulders and something that blocked his private parts.

As he left, his right hand, which was lowered, seemed to be dragging something. Slowly coming out of the forest, bit by bit, a 3 meter handle showed itself, with a blade of a huge axe, which seemed to be made of steel.

Drake seeing such a sight, snapped out of his daze. His survival instinct was screaming at him to run, but was there any chance of running?

Drake felt a sensation that made him feel nostalgic. The feeling of having the doors of death laid out before him, where his only option is to walk towards it.

Straightening his posture, Drake looked around, there were the three Novice Knights and Kaesir, all wearing strained expressions.

At the back, many had already fallen from just the Orc's scream, leaving only a few archers who were further away.

Kaesir looked at his companions and said in a heavy voice.

"Our fate will be decided now"

Looking at Drake he said.

" Will you be able to keep up with us?"

"I still haven't given it my all" Drake said with a serious expression, not taking his eyes off the Orc.

The Orc in the distance suddenly quickened its steps into a charge. The weight of his footsteps caused small tremors throughout the battlefield.

Kaesir quickly reacted, leading his group.

" ADVANCE!"

Kaesir ran ahead, followed by three Novice Knights and Drake.

Only the space of about 20 meters separated their figures from colliding.
