A bright, blazing image appears in front of me as I am wrapped around in warmth. I rub my eyes to open them and focus on a roaring fireplace in front of me while I sit on a fur rug. Looking around, I notice I am in a wooden house that I do not recognize.
"Where am I?"
"You are safe. Don't worry about that."
I turn my attention to the voice that enters the room to see my father walk in.
"Dad, what is going on?"
He smiles, "I decided to change the scenery in your mind to something that might be more pleasant than the last time I visited your dreams. I thought it might help you feel safe, so we can talk a little more than last time."
"So, I am still dreaming then? Why does it feel so real though?"
"It is hard to explain honestly but I figured it is better to talk to you in your dreams for now than in real life. Your mother will have a fit if she knows I am back. She can't know."
"So, are you back then officially? Why now after all this time?"
