------------------~[ROSE'S POV]~---------------------
“Britt." I called her and she looks up at me with a forlorn look.
What the hell happened?
I adjust my backpack around my shoulder and walk up to her not bothering to look around the class a single bit. What matters to me at the moment is my best friend. I get to her and sit down beside her.
“Hey. You got here before me." I say with a smile but she ignores me and continues scribbling on the book. I frown. “What's wrong Britt? What's with the sour face?"
She sighs and bite her lip. " Why did you get here late?"
I chuckle. Is that bothering her? I smile. " Hey. Easy with me. I was a bit delayed. It's nothing to worry about, okay. I really wanted to beat you to this but, you know…I got delayed….“
" By what?“ She asks and turns to me with a furious face glaring at me with soft, brown eyes. I gulp.
“I was delayed by……”
" My boyfriend right?“ She asks before I can say a thing and I look at her wide eyed. What the……. “Are you two having some sort of secret relationship at my back? I've been watching you two and the looks between you two is something I can't comprehend.“
I swallow. How the hell….but she wasn't there. How did she know I ran into Mike?
I chuckle and rub my chin softly. “Listen to me Britt. You are mistaken. There is a misunderstanding here. I have nothing to do with Mike.“
" Then what were you doing with him this morning?“
" He was only offering me help. Not like I asked for it. I don't have anything to do with him. Come on, get that silly thought out of your head.“
She stares at me for a few minutes and sighs. She turns back to her book.
I examine her. “You don't believe me?"
She doesn't reply. I chuckle. " Wow. So that's what you take me for? A boyfriend snatcher?“ I chuckle. " Yeah. Right. Some friend you are. You have some serious trust issues that you need to deal with and I'm going to give you a lot of time to deal with that.“ I say and walk up to a chair two rows ahead of hers.
I drop my backpack furiously on the table and sigh. What the hell…. She couldn't even make a confirmation first. She just concluded. Aaargh. Such a bitch.
“Hello Rosy. What's the matter? You seem quite lonely today.“
I look up to see Skylar, known as the school goddess because of her excessive hideous makeup and plastic surgery done on her ass and boobs. She has always been my nemesis ever since I stepped into this University. Well…..not quite really.
Well, Skylar's story also connects with I and Mike's story. We all go way back. Skylar is actually the very first person I talked to when I first got to this University and she became my very best friend. But unfortunately, our bond didn't last long enough when Mike came into the picture. We both loved him at first sight and that was a bad turning point for our maturing relationship because he chose me unexpectedly and that shocked me though. I never saw myself as someone to be chosen but he chose me and that had Skylar inevitably jealous. She's been hunting me ever since.
I sigh. I am quite not in the mood for any of her hideous tricks. “Beat it Skylar. I'm not in the mood. Just get lost.“
She chuckles and sits on the chair in front of me. Aaargh. I growled. " What exactly do you want this morning?" I ask with my palm against my face.
She smirks. “Such a pity to massacre your relationship with your good old friend early in the morning.“
I roll my eyes. " I haven't massacred any relationship okay.“ What the hell. Jeez. I'm still fighting for our friendship. I'm not supposed to bring it down. I can't bring myself to do that.
Skylar smirks at me and I glance at her. Exactly, who else is such a ruiner of relationships if not the almighty Skylar. I glare at her. I bet she's the one who told Brittany about the encounter with Mike and maybe make it all look the way Brittany viewed it.
Well. I can't fight her. She won. Brittany will definitely have to apologize for ever thinking that about me. What the hell….
I'm not such a person and for her to think of me that way had me expressly furious.
Skylar remains in her position smirking at me. This bitch looks so suspicious. What the hell is she scheming now again?
I sigh deeply. “Look. I'm honestly not in the mood for anything, Skylar. Can you just go find someone else to pick on?“
She chuckles and adjusts her long, thick , dark, straight, waist length hair. In a way, I really envied the smoothness and orderliness of her hair. Mine is so wavy and curly, it will still have some stubborn waves and curls no matter how hard I try to straighten them.
“Unfortunately, I choose you this morning." She ssys,
I swallow. Come on. Not now. Shit.
" What exactly do you want, Skylar?"
She chuckles and leans closer. " Finally, a reasonable question. I want to humiliate you."
I gulp. That is the most straightforward threat I've ever heard. I fold my arms. “And what do you intend to do……"
Before I can complete my sentence, the icy liquid obviously of a tropical fruit smoothie flashes against my face and I gasped. She laughs aloud and her cohorts whom I didn't notice had been with her all long joined in the laughter.
“I'm sorry. I heard you have a strong liken to tropical fruit smoothies and thought I should get you one.“ She says and bursted into another fit of laughter. I grit my teeth. Not now Rose. Not now.
It's fine. Let she have it her way. I'm not gonna fight.
I sigh deeply and get up from my seat. Well. She's succeeded in ruining my little makeup. I definitely can't return back to my hotel to fix it. I'll have to go the whole day without makeup.
I walk towards the entrance of the lecture hall to go to the restroom but then someone holds my hand. I turn to see Brittany looking at me pitifully. I scof. She will definitely have to do more than that to appease me because I don't see myself forgive her any time soon.
