Chapter 26 - 26: Dungeon clearing while being under leveled is hard [pt2]

The boss was gigantic and its shadow covered Olivier. His current angle only allowed him to see the dark spot he was standing in currently.

Nothing could lack the timing, angle, and hand speed if he wanted to pull this trick off. Olivier zoned out as soon as the pressure got to him.

'Alright, I can do this. I only have one chance to pull this trick off so I cannot miss.'

Fingers moved over the keyboard fluidly and swiftly, and Olivier was able to position himself in the right place. The boss monster fell where Olivier thought it would fail. With a single press of the space bar, Olivier managed to frame his jump perfectly.

A few more combos ensured that Olivier was virtually unhit during the whole sequence.

"Here it is. The follow-up."

The boss monster raised his fists and tried to hit Olivier. But Olivier was already a few frames out of his attack range.

The shield bar on top of the boss's head finally went down to zero and the DPS window opened.

With only 40% of its health remaining, the boss was no match for Olivier's swift shoots. Olivier had also recovered enough mana points to finish the boss off.

"That was such a tough situation. I feel like a few years were shaved off my life after that encounter."

Olivier could not help but be impressed by his effort. Had it been someone else, Olivier was not sure if they would have been able to make it.

Since Olivier had somehow managed to get over this obstacle, it was time to go ahead and open the last door. That would lead him to the room where his other two teammates were waiting for him.

[I am done. I hope I did not take too long.]

Olivier watched as the mage fumble his weapon, almost dropping it in the process of flipping it. His sudden message had started the mage.

[Y-You are alive?]

[I mean, you finally made it. What took you so long]

[I was waiting for you to come. I almost thought you would not make it. And what is with your mediocre amount of HP?]

Olivier watched as the mage tried to bury his first message in the sea of other messages. But Olivier knew that the mage was impressed by his skills already.

On the other hand, Terry did not hide his amazement at seeing Olivier alive and still having such high HP.

[Wow kid, you finished this dungeon in a record time for your level. Were you always this good?]

Terry's dry sense of humor assured Olivier that he was on the right track.

[ANYWAY.]

[We need to start on this raid. I do not have a lot of time to be online so we have about half an hour to finish this raid.]

[Do not worry, I have a plan. You both need to follow what I say and this raid would be over soon]

The mage quickly took back charge of the situation. Olivier looked at this bottom screen and he flinched after seeing it. He had not realized just how late it had gotten.

[Yeah. let us finish this raid and go to sleep. I have a test tomorrow and I want to be awake to take it.]

Terry joked but he got into the formation as well. The mage quickly conveyed the plan to the other two and it made sense to Olivier.

The plan was simple - to force the main dungeon boss to focus on the mage while Terry and Olivier took out everything else in the vicinity. Since their mage was above lvl 150, he would not even feel the attack.

And the mage could one two-shot the boss if he got lucky. That was what a 100-level difference could do in this game.

Had the circumstances been different, Olivier would have decided to take his time clearing this dungeon and gaining exp. But since they were short on time, this was the best way to clear the dungeon.

[Alright, get ready. I am going to trigger the boss.]

The mage said before he walked in. Olivier and Terry followed him as well and they quickly split up to not get caught up in the first attack.

The boss in this chamber was a flower-like entity that raised its head to look at the players.

It was supposed to turn toward the mage and blast the first shot. But for some reason, it turned toward Olivier and decide to lock his attacks on Olivier's avatar.

As soon as the mark of hunt appeared on top of Olivier's avatar on the screen, he knew he was being targeted.

[Hey, what happened? Why did the flower not attack me? I was the one to trigger it?]

[!!!]

The mage was bewildered as well. It tried attacking the boss but the boss did not even pay any attention to the mage even when half of his HP went down.

[Ah, this must be because of the new AI. I think the boss was changed from targeting the one who triggered it to the one most vulnerable on the team. I think that is why it is focusing on Olivier this much.]

Terry quickly explained.

As Olivier had expected, Terry was a nerd when it came to this game and he kept his eyes on the latest news. No wonder he knew what was going on.

[Alright, wait. I will just kill this boss.]

The mage fired off another skill and the boss monster fell in one swoop.

[Dungeon cleared. Appropriate rewards will be distributed now.]

Olivier watched his inventory fill up with rare materials. They will be useful during his ascension quest that was about to come up soon.

[Alright, that is it for today. Kid, I watched how you perform and I cannot say I am impressed]

[You better show up in the guild meeting tomorrow so that I can begin training you for the future.]

Somehow, Olivier was not surprised the mage was being a tsundere like this. He likely had a reputation to hold up online and he was taking his role very seriously.

There was a guild acceptance invite in front of Olivier's screen. He could have pressed 'accept' but he decided to wait until tomorrow.

He was too tired to play this game today.

[Hey kid, your response is starting to lag now. You should go to sleep if you do not want to fall asleep in class tomorrow.]

Terry's words made Olivier realize that he was tired and he quickly decided to go to a safe point to log off.

Olivier was changing a few last-minute settings for his avatar when he relieved a message in his inbox.

It was not a p-vs-p invite since Olivier had disabled them for now. So, he was curious to see who had sent this message to him.

[Hey stranger,

Are you interested in changing your fate? If so, then meet me in the XXX location on the map.

I shall be waiting for you to show up in the next ten minutes. If not, then I shall consider us both as mortal enemies and I shall fight you to the bitter end.]

Olivier read this message once, and then he re-read this message twice.

In the end, he decided that some lunatic had accidentally sent him this message and he decided to respond with a single 'LOL no' before logging off.

Olivier did not realize what kind of problem he was creating for himself. But he would soon come to regret his decision in the future.

.....

[Hahaha, you got ignored]

[Looks like your new friend does not want to be your friend. Are you both mortal enemies now?]

Excited blue eyes looked at the message he received back from the famous 'Controller.' The stranger who had sent the weird message to Olivier was a streamer named Aqua.

Since he was a virtual streamer, no one knew what he looked like or where he lived. But the eighteen years old was convinced he was the protagonist of this world.

After all, why else would God give him a rich family and a lot of gaming talent? Heck, he even had a smooth carrier of streaming and a ton of fans.

And that was why, when things did not go his way, it got Aqua excited.

"Oh, come on. I am sure my sudden message surprised Controller a little. I do not think we are ill-suited for each other as friends. And it also looks like Controller had gone offline for today. Then, we shall try this tomorrow."

Aqua's voice was smooth and calm. It caused his fans to melt and not ask him any more questions.

As someone who had been streaming for some time now, Aqua knew how to manipulate people and make them see what he wanted them to see.

'Controller, huh? I guess I can make use of this man to further my career. It has been some time since anyone piqued my interest like this.'
