Lucas's manager could not help but feel a feeling of Deja vu when he looked at the kid. This kid not only reminded him of Olivier with his looks but also with his behavior.
And that obsession with gaming was also shared between this kid and Lucas's dead coach.
If not for the kid's age, the manager would have believed that this kid was the reincarnation of Olivier William. But age was a factor so the manager decided to close that train of thought.
"Hey kid, so what is your name? I cannot keep calling you a 'kid' right?"
The manager tried to stick up a conversation with the kid, hoping to know more about him. But the more he tried, the more distant that kid became. And there was also something like irritation that was shining in the kid's eyes.
"Old man, I told you to butt out of my business. I can take care of myself."
The kid tried to protest. But even that made him look more childish in the manager's eyes. Somehow, the manager knew he would have fun teasing this kid.
'And anyway, Lucas would have his way in the end and this kid would end up in our club anyway. I might as well establish a hierarchy with him.'
With that in mind, the manager was about to pinch the kid and tease him more when the doctor walked toward their group with a frown on his face.
"Mr. Williams, please do not make this stay any more painful than it needs to be. Your uncle paid a good amount of money to us and we will look after you. Nurse, take this kid back to the room and keep an eye on him."
A nurse quickly walked over to the group and took Olivier's hand in her own. She looked apologetic toward Olivier so he tried not to hold it against her.
But Olivier was annoyed that he was not allowed to use a PC and play games.
The doctor sighed once Olivier was out of his sight. But it was also something he was used to. Patients often did not want to do as they were told.
"Excuse me doctor, but did you call that kid 'Williams?' Can you tell me more about him?"
The manager asked the doctor but all he got was an acidic glare for his efforts.
"I am sorry mister, but I cannot tell you more about that kid. We do not leak information on our patients to outsiders."
The manager flinched as soon as he realized that the doctor was hinting. He needed to clear out the air quickly.
"N-No, you misunderstood me and my intentions. I did not mean anything bad by my interests. I am a scout from the gaming event and I wanted to invite the kid to join our facility. Here, this is my visiting card."
The doctor did not look convinced by the manager's words but the business card was authentic.
Still, the doctor had a closed-off expression on his face.
"I am sorry but we still cannot tell you any private information about our patient. If you want to know something, you will have to ask the concerned party."
The doctor turned around and left the hall quickly.
The manager did debate whether he should follow Olivier or not, but he decided not to in the end.
After all, the manager was hired for Lucas and not to look for people to scout out.
"Hey manager, what are you doing here? I was looking around for you all over the place. Are you alright?"
Lucas finally came out of the doctor's room and he looked fit. Since they were in the hospital, the manager had asked Lucas to get a check-up as well. It would cover up the reason they were here.
"Hmm, I am alright. So, what do you want to do next? We have a fifteen-minute window before we need to head out again."
The manager reminded Lucas of his time limit. The professional player did not look happy with this reminder, but he did not complain as well.
"Fifteen minutes? Cannot say that I am happy with this. But I cannot complain about this either. Let us do this."
Lucas went to the head desk and asked for the kid's room number. But the nurse denied them entry.
The room that the kid was lying in was a private ward and only family and registered people could go in there.
Neither Lucas nor his manager were registered people and would be allowed entry.
Lucas did try to argue with the nurse and he even tried to prove that he was not a scammer or a debt collector here to hurt the kid. But no matter what he did, the nurse refused to move from her place.
In the end, it was the manager who dragged Lucas away from the front desk. He looked at his watch, only to realize that they were more than late for their next meeting.
"Shit, Lucas, forget the kid for a minute and hurry up. The boss would chew us alive if he knew we were late for the next shoot."
The manager was panicking. He did not want to lose his job just because his player was being stubborn and did not want to work.
"Manager, it can all wait. I just need to meet that kid once and-"
The manager's panic worsened as soon as he looked at his phone. Maxamillion Bard, the chairman himself was calling the manager.
If they did not head out now then it would be over for the manager.
"Lucas, we have been through so much together. So, for my sake, please let us head out now. Even the president is calling me and I do not know how to answer him."
Lucas did not want to head out. He wanted to clear the air out with the kid and put an end to this uneasy feeling inside his heart.
But he knew that his manager was right. Things would become complicated for them if they did not head out now.
"Fine, let us head out. But you better find me a way to contact that kid later. I want to talk with him."
At this point, the manager was willing to promise anything Lucas wanted. Just if they both left for the meeting, the manager was willing to give Lucas whatever he wanted from him.
Finding and contacting the kid? Their legal team would take care of it once the manager handed this case over to them.
"Do not worry about the kid. I will find some way to get in contact with him. For now, you need to take care of the photo shoot."
Lucas was not happy. But he decided to follow his manager's advice anyway,
...….
Olivier was hurdled back into his room like a naughty kid. He tried not to show his displeasure but Olivier was not able to stop himself.
The nurse who had accompanied Olivier back to his room giggled at his response.
"I know it sucks that you are stuck in your hospital room for now, but things would get better soon. It is only a two-day time and you will be out of the hospital then."
The nurse promised but her words made Oliver's bad mood worsen even more.
A two-day period might not seem like a lot to most people. But for people who were looking to compete, even a single day away from the game was wasteful. Especially when you considered all the rewards he would be missing.
'Ugh, if only the festival event in the game was not ongoing right now. I am sure I would have been able to relax a lot more.'
Olivier threw his body on the bed since it was the only thing he could do.
Someone knocked on his door and the nurse opened it. Natasha walked into the room and she instantly looked up at Olivier in a disapproving manner.
"Hey kid, cheer up. Terry did say he would take care of your event and level your game up for you. What do you have to be stressed about?"
Somehow, Natasha could guess that Olivier was worried about his game. And Olivier's sour look only worsened.
"Playing the game, yourself and having someone else take care of your avatar for you are different things. I feel like my baby has been ripped away from me."
Olivier was being dramatic but his mood was sour right now.
"Alright enough. Stop being a drama queen. Just spend two days in this hospital and then you can go back home."
For the record, Olivier would have everyone know that he was not happy with this outcome. But this was a nice break and his brain did want to rest.
Olivier spend most of his two days catching up on his lost sleep. He slept so much that his head hurt from it.
And at the start of the third day, Olivier was ready to be discharged and go back to his gaming session. He had missed it dearly.
