Chapter 40 - Our Revenge

Leonardo was in his luxurious office, packing up his things and getting ready to head home. He had a long day, and all he wanted to do was relax and spend time with his wife, Hailey.

Just as he was about to leave, his phone rang. It was his grandmother Mary, and from the tone of her voice, he knew that something was wrong.

"Leo, I have some bad news," she said. "Your wife, Hailey, was slapped and abused by her ex-mother-in-law Lydia today at the mall."

Leonardo's heart sank at the news. He couldn't believe that someone would lay a hand on his wife. He felt a fierce anger rising within him, and he knew that he had to do something. "Thank you for letting me know, Grandma," he said, his voice cold and controlled. "I'll handle this."

He hung up the phone and took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down. He couldn't let his emotions get the best of him, not when he needed to be clear-headed to deal with the situation.

He quickly called Peter, his assistant, and instructed him to get his convoy ready. He needed to get home to Hailey as soon as possible.

As he walked out of his office, he felt a sense of purpose wash over him. He was going to make sure that his wife was okay, and he was going to deal with Lydia and anyone else who had hurt her.

He climbed into his car, the anger still simmering inside him.

On their way home, Leonardo asked the driver to pull up at the mall. His mind racing with anger and concern for his wife. He took a deep breath and tried to push his emotions aside, knowing that he needed to focus on making Hailey feel better. He walked into the mall, as he made his way through the crowded mall, he saw a small chocolate and flower shop and decided to stop in. He knew that Hailey loved chocolate, and he hoped that a small gift would lift her spirits. He quickly picked out a box of her favourite chocolates and a beautiful bouquet before heading back out into the mall.

He got into the car and ordered the driver, to take him home. The driver nodded and drove off with other cars following behind. As his convoy pulled at the mansion. Leonardo hurriedly came down from the car and stormed into his mansion, his anger still simmering as he made his way to the grand staircase. He didn't even bother to take off his coat, his mind solely focused on his wife and the ordeal she had been through.

He saw Mark, the head staff, standing at the entrance, and asked him where his wife was.

"Sir, Mrs King, is in your room," Mark said, his voice careful.

Leonardo nodded curtly, dismissing him with a wave of his hand. He didn't want to waste any more time. He needed to see Hailey and make sure that she was okay.

He hurried up the stairs, taking them two at a time, his heart pounding in his chest. He knew that Hailey had been through a lot, and he wanted to be there for her.

As he reached the top of the stairs, he turned down the hallway and headed for their bedroom. He could see the door was slightly ajar, and he pushed it open with a sense of urgency.

Inside, Hailey was sitting on the bed, her head in her hands. She looked up as he entered, her eyes red-rimmed and puffy.

"Leo," she said, her voice soft and fragile. "I'm so glad you're home."

Leonardo rushed to her side, pulling her into his arms and holding her close. He could feel her shaking, her whole body trembling with fear and uncertainty.

"Honey, I'm here," he said, his voice soothing. "I'm not going anywhere. I'm going to take care of this. I will make sure they pay dearly for hurting you, I promise."

Hailey looked at Leonardo with a weak smile on her lips as she touched his face." Leo, I don't want to trouble you with my problems. You and Grandma have done enough for me. Don't worry I will take care of this. It's My Revenge," she said.

Leonardo kissed her softly on the lips and said, "Hailey, I am your husband and it's my responsibility to protect you. The day we got married we made a vow to become one. We share both happiness and pain. So, Sweetheart, it's Our Revenge"

Hailey buried her head in his chest, tears soaking into his shirt as she cried. Leonardo held her tightly, his heart breaking at the sight of his wife in so much pain.

"Don't worry, Hailey. I'm going to take care of this," he said, his voice low and dangerous. "Nobody lays a hand on my wife and gets away with it."

A few minutes later, Leonardo was able to calm Hailey. He then gave her the box of chocolate and flowers he got for her. Hailey beamed happily. Then leaned in and kissed Leonardo.
