Chapter 77 - Merging the Past and Present

"Are you ready?" The worried voice of Gu Yuena echoed in Wulin's ears as he focused both inwardly and outward. It had been only a few weeks since Xu Xiaoyan introduced herself to them and Wulin had determined that it was time to finally do it.

"Mhm." It was slightly odd speaking in reality while still in his mind space but it was nothing overly difficult. The goal of today was simple, it was to make him whole once more though that wasn't strictly correct.

"[No matter how painful it gets, please endure it.]" The request of his father was expected but Wulin didn't expect the fearsome Sea God's face to be filled with so much worry. In actuality, they were ever so slightly overreacting.

Of course absorbing a divine tool into his body, especially one created from the body of a God King like the Dragon God, was nothing short of suicide so their worries weren't exactly unfounded but that was beside the point.

The golden dragon spear was made from his half of the Dragon God, it was filled with his bloodline and was essentially another him. Absorbing it would only enhance him though it would obviously be difficult.

Even if the spear didn't have consciousness it was still alive in a technical sense, there was no chance that Wulin's absorption of the spear would be easy. Of course, that didn't mean much to Wulin. He doubted it was harder than making a connection with metal touched by annihilation anyway.

"Start whenever you're ready." The comforting voice of Gu Yuena somewhat echoed in his mindscape and though she couldn't see it Wulin nodded in response. Her role was both simple and the most important. She would keep all traces of him contained within his dorm room.

When Wulin rested a palm on the spear it raised no complaint, happily accepting its role as a tool to be utilized. However, as soon as Wulin pierced his own chest with its sharp tip it roared in indignation, its form vibrating slightly.

The Golden Dragon Spear was made from the rib of the Dragon God, a being with a total of fifty ribs. That may seem like an insignificant fact but it made all the difference in this process of absorption. The issue wasn't just dominating the spear but instead doing so while Wulin ripped out one of his ribs.

Holding the spear steady it shook violently, Wulin's thick skin tearing slightly at the intense vibrations. Pushing the spear ever deeper within his chest Wulin could feel its form begin to liquify and though that was the ultimate goal it wasn't time.

Using his remnant divinity Tang San 'froze' the process of its melting and allowed Wulin the time to rip out his rib. It was a horrible sight for any parent but Tang San took relief in the fact that he was allowed to assist his child at all.

The liquidification had begun much faster than Wulin had expected so Wulin was running low on time to remove his rib. He didn't have the time to worry about the consequences or what would happen outside of his mindscape.

Originally, Wulin intended to limit the areas his blood would leak due to the annihilation within it but now he didn't have that luxury. Stabbing his chest Wulin's hand passed through organ, muscle, and all manners of his innards as his limb raced toward his ribs.

Firmly grasping his rib a moment later he forcefully pulled, his powerful bones fighting tooth and nail for a few moments before the bone gave way. Unfortunately, the bone didn't escape him nicely as it tore a large chunk out of his already gory chest that oozed even more blood.

Holding the golden bone in his grasp Wulin wished for a brief moment to catch his breath but he ignored his concerns. As nice as rest sounded, so did having a world to return to, and as it stood his leaking annihilation would make the latter difficult if he rested.

Removing his restriction on the liquidification of the spear Tang San was both relieved it was nearly over without issue and worried beyond compare at his son's injuries. Numerous organs had been destroyed and his chest resembled a whack a mole game!

If he had the energy to spare he would have loved to attempt to assist his son's natural regeneration but he didn't. Containing the domination of the Golden Dragon King's blood was difficult for such a small portion of divinity let alone adding more.

As soon as his restrictions were lifted the spear morphed into a golden liquid that surged into Wulin's body, replacing his torn out rib in the blink of an eye. The abundant and thick blood essence flowed through Wulin's body, enhancing him up another tier with ease as a tyrannical aura emanated from him.

Tang San expected that to be the end of things, for Wulin to take a while to rest from his injuries but never did he expected his son to begin 𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 his bloody rib. It was a gruesome sight as blood soaked Wulin's face and flesh stuck to his teeth but Tang San quickly understood the intention behind the act of self cannibalism.

Wulin's bones stored a large amount of his blood essence, the blood essence of the Golden Dragon King. While it didn't quite compare to the essence stored within the spear it wasn't far behind let alone bad. It wasn't worth throwing away by any means.

It was a somewhat crude method but eating his own bone would certainly allow him to regain that blood essence. Unlike the spear his bone would not melt so Wulin had to rely on his powerful stomach acid to deal with his tough bone.

Tang San could somewhat guess that Wulin had intended to do this but this was far from intentional. His son's nearly emotionless eyes were a tad bit more robotic than usual and his movements were more instinctual than Tang San had ever seen before.

"[This isn't how I thought we'd have our first fight…]" Smiling wryly at his son's unconscious actions Tang San summoned the familiar Sea God's Spear into his grasp. Leaping forward Wulin blurred into existence in front of him, fist and spear clashing resulting in a typhoon of wind exploding outward.

Once more, the Golden Dragon King and Sea God were clashing.

"…What happened here?" When Wu Zhangkong had been called by Gu Yuena into Wulin's room he expected a few things but never did he expect to find a completely distorted room with a crimson cocoon with the seven main elements dancing around it protectively.

"Wulin's gone into Awakening Meditation." Tiredly responding to her teacher, Gu Yuena wiped her hair out of her face. She was covered in sweat from head to toe and her clothes and hair stuck to her form like glue connected them.

It was far from easy to contain the annihilation that had leaked from her other half and she was forced to utilize Creation to mold it as she wished. It was only natural that she was beyond exhausted and she hadn't even managed to completely get rid of her other half's blood and was instead forced to use it as a cage of sorts since he was unusually violent at the moment.

"…You have a lot to explain."

Hey there, hope you liked the chapter.

The next few chapters are perhaps my best works. I feel like I blended everything together perfectly which is extremely important for those chapters above all others. After all, this is the long awaited reveal of Wulin's past.

If you want more chapters, head to patre*on.com/TrapOverlord for up to 25 extra chapters. It isn't required but it'd be much appreciated.
