Joining Ah Ruheng for his daily training was strange not because of the schedule itself but instead the man himself. He demanded he be shirtless to 'feel the world' and he often screamed to encourage himself. He wasn't a bad man by any means but he was certainly an oddball.
"Are you ready, younger brother?" Smiling with every fiber of his being, Ah Rehung wore odd attire considering their abilities. With soul power, no amount of clothing would become an inconvenience underwater, and yet he had still chosen to don nothing but a speedo. Truthfully, Wulin had never wanted to gouge out his own eyes as much as he did now.
"As much as you, I'd say." Chuckling at his 'older brother' Wulin didn't mind the older boy's familiarity. Wulin would readily say he didn't see the man that way but he didn't mind allowing Ah Ruheng to call him whatever he pleased. The man was a ball of joy and he deserved that much.
"Then let's go!" Leaping into the gloomy waters a splash soaked Wulin's form before he could even approach the Eternal Sea. Sighing and chuckling at the same time Wulin leaped in after him, a far smaller splash spreading small ripples all throughout the sea.
Sinking in the water Wulin found just about everything a challenge, the water that once pushed him around with a single thought now tightly squeezing against him. He had withdrawn his blood essence to its limits, his body falling until it was only just a bit stronger than those of his rank, and that meant the benefits of Gu Yuena's blood were gone. He was on his own here.
Slowing his metabolism with soul power the need for oxygen lessened, his initial breath now lasting for around three hours. It wasn't that much all things considered but it would hopefully last long enough for him to struggle.
Waving his over Ah Ruheng showed him a toothy grin, a slight cough shaking his body as a small amount of water filled his body. Laughing internally Wulin followed after his senior brother with a smile.
The water fought against him, the pressure straining his organs as every meter pushed him closer to the edge of the delicate tightrope act he was doing. He could see why his father would think this would be fatal if even the top of the Upper Layer was this dangerous.
And that was exactly why he was doing this. Stagnation was death for somebody like him and he didn't just mean that metaphorically. The 'Empress' of evil soul masters wanted him dead and with the war between the Four Great Powers and FUG rapidly approaching he'd almost certainly have to utilize power above his means once or twice. As he was now, his body wouldn't last. He needed to grow to survive and he needed to grow to thrive.
That's why he ignored the pressure and moved until he could no longer do so before sitting still as instructed by Mu Ye. While Wulin was quite good at making martial arts he had far less skill in creating cultivation techniques. It took a great deal of help from Yun Ming to create the one he had and even then it was flawed to the extreme. That was on purpose but it was still flawed.
However, that didn't mean he couldn't see the effectiveness of cultivation methods. Though he struggled to create them himself he had studied a great many over the years so he could tell the good from the bad. And, unsurprisingly, the Body Sect techniques fell into the former category.
The Body Sect had two main teachings for talented students, the Martial Soul Second Awakening and the Body Sect's Innate Secret Technique. The latter came after the second awakening in the past as the latent potential couldn't remain but these days something new happened to change that.
Actually, the entire process was different only a few years ago. The secret technique required numerous heaven and earth treasures and with the state of the sect, even Ah Ruheng was pushing it. If it weren't for Mu Ye being a successful chef, soul master, and mecha master all at once it wouldn't have worked in the end.
But then the Eternal Sea came. With the immense pressure that came with the Eternal Sea and the incredibly pure energies that flowed through the area, it was possible to do both at once, the martial soul awakening and physical cultivation of the body sect now one seamless process.
Really, it was all due to Mu Ye. The man may not be as strong as Yun Ming but he far surpassed the man when it came to tweaking cultivation methods to fit the current era. Who else could have taken an anomaly on a global scale and used it to make his sect's methods even more efficient in less than two years?
Regardless, there were three steps in the Golden Asura Purification process. First, the body must be under immense stress. That was easy enough when even the Upper Layer put immense strain on Wulin's body.
'I'm lucky Ah Ruheng and Mu Ye looked the other way.' Weakening to such an extent was odd yet his senior brother simply smiled warmly before swimming off to go do his own thing in the Middle Layers.
[I still think this is a bad idea but⦠I'll start. Your mom's going to kill me.] Sighing heavily Tang San called for the sea, a pulse of divinity spreading through the area with shocking ease. His power was drastically reduced from helping Wulin absorb the Golden Dragon Spear but he still had enough to do something so basic. The Sea was his home after all.
Drawing in the powerful energy of the Eternal Sea without a care for his limits Wulin quickly felt bloated, his body and soul struggling to keep up with the absurd inflow of energy. Closing his eyes he strained against the energy, a whirlpool of energy surrounding him.
The second step was to absorb so much energy that you wanted to die.

Hey there, hope you liked the chapter.
I'm curious what the second awakening of a martial soul like the GDK would equal. I mean, if it gives the body of the dragon god, the ability to control the universal force of annihilation, and time manipulation then what is there to look forward to? Well, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
