Athena POV
I waited until midnight came around before getting dressed and headed towards the library where Hyde would be waiting. When I entered inside I don't see Hyde waiting. "Hyde?" I called out, slowing stepping through the entrance of the library and the air got colder, more creepier. "H-Hyde?" I stutter out this time as I passed by a large bookcase. Suddenly I felt a something grab my shoulder and within a second I spun on my heel hissing loudly but I was pinned against the bookcase, staring into this dark green colored eyes my entire body relaxed. "Hyde...." I whispered, my words caught in my throat. "You need to be taught it combat as well, if under attack a deer would have a better chance surviving" He stated before letting space fill between us and then stepping further away from me. "Y-yeah, You sort of caught me off guard" I pointed out. "That's the point, not every enemy is right in front of you" He informed me. "R-Right" I nodded before letting out a deep breath. "So what are we starting on first?" I asked him. "We're starting with the basic" He says as we walked over to a bookcase and pulling out four huge books and then setting them down onto the table. "Studying..." He smirked. "Reading?" I knit my brows together. "Not what you expected?" He arched a brow. "No...Not really, at least I thought we'd try different powers and then--" Hyde cut me off as he chuckle. "It's easier for you to read, figure out how to tap into your power and then learning to use and control it" He explained. "Got it..." I nodded before sitting down at the table and opening the first book and beginning to read the pages. Learning that there are four known powers a vampire can get. One being Telepathy, The ability to read the minds of mortals. Atmokinesis, Vampires who can control the weather within limits. Telekinesis, Vampires can move objects with their minds. Pyrokinesis. Vampires that have control over fire and can summon heat and fire with their minds and hands. There are obviously unknown and rare abilities one can possess that are questioned to be linked to there genetic and family tree dating back from centuries. I knit my brows together when I think back to my family, trying to remember one memory that could seem out of place. "Alright, time is up. You must get some sleep or you'll be sleeping through your classes" Hyde says, pulling my mind from it's thoughts. "But...I wasn't done yet" I stand to my feet as he takes the books from in front of me. He let out a chuckle "I didn't actually think you would enjoy reading this." "Well I do" I informed him. "We'll pick back up tomorrow night" He says. I let out a sigh before he had placed the books back onto the shelve. "Can I ask you something?" I asked as we left the library. "Sure" He smiles kindly to me. "What was your time like?" I questioned. He knit his brows together. "I only ask because I feel like...Sometimes I have this feeling that I was born in the wrong time" I say to him. "It was back in the !840s" He says to me. "We had horse carriages and dirt roads, smalls towns" He added. "Sounds....Lovely" I smiled. "It had it's perks but with the small towns, came small minded people and small minded rules" He informed me. "I think I would have been perfectly happy back then" I say. "Open country roads, everything so simple" I say Hyde practically walked me back to my dorm. "Well, maybe someday...I'll explain things more in detail to give you a clearer picture" He suggested. "This is me..." I sighed. "See you tomorrow night" He tells me before reaching out and grabbing my hand, lifting it to his lips and placing a soft, gentle kiss on my skin that felt like a warm flame burning in my stomach. "Goodnight...Athena" He says. "Goodnight Hyde" I smirked before he let my hand fall to my side, turning on heel and walking down the hall. I watched him until he disappeared behind the corner. I let out another sigh before entering the dorm and walking towards my bed, pulling the blanket up and climbing into my bed, quickly letting my sleep take over.
Everything is cold around me, causing my heart to feel like it was racing in my chest. I can't see through the fog that suddenly was every where. I slowly lifted my hand to touch the snow that fell. The snow crumbled into dust as it touched my hand. I only realized then it hadn't been snow that was falling from the sky, it was ash. "Athena..." I heard a male voice whisper out to me through the fog that covered the air. "Athena" His voice like velvet that still ran shivers down my spine. "Wh-who's out there?" I stuttered out. "H-hello?" I called out, trying to see through the fog but only seeing shadows.
My eyes snapped open and I take in a deep breath before realizing that I was in the middle of a clearing, grass covering the ground that is soaked with the morning dew. "Morning..." I knit my brows together noticing it was becoming daylight outside. Yet, I wasn't burning. Does the sun have no effect on me? I shot to my feet as fast as I could and headed back to the school. When I rushed to Hyde office I knocked on the door before bursting inside. "Hyde!" I called out. "What the hell are you doing here?" Matt hissed as he left the door next to a window. "You wouldn't believe what just happened to me!" I squealed out. "Why are you wet and covered in dirt?" He questioned as he knit his brows together. "I found out what my power is!" I stated. "Athena?" I heard a voice tiredly call out and I turned my head to see Hyde putting on a shirt as he exited the room and approached us. "Hyde, I'm pretty sure I found out what my power is" I tell him. "Really, what?" He knit his brows together. "Well, I was having this strange dream and when I woke up...I was laying in some clearing--" "You left the school?" Matt cut me off. "No...I.." I let out a huff of air before glaring at him. "I woke up in a clearing just beyond the school. anyway" I shook my head. "It was morning, the sun was up and yet I didn't burn, Or feel any type of sting from the rays" I explained to them. "That's impossible" Matt chuckled as he shook his head. "You woke up in the woods?" Hyde knit his brows together. "Aren't you two listening to me?" I asked. "Yes, you've found out your immune to the rays of the sun" Hyde nodded almost letting out a breath of air. "Why aren't you surprised?" I asked them both. Matt looked over at Hyde, smirking at him "Probably because it's not likely..." Matt pointed out, shaking his head. I let out a scuff "So you don't believe me?" I asked them both. "No, that's not it" Hyde shook his head. "It's just not anything we've heard of" Hyde explained to me. "I can prove it to you" I say before making my way over to the door. "Get dressed and meet me in the court yard" I tell them both before leaving.
I paced back and forth, umbrella over my head as I waited for Hyde and Matthew to show. I let out a sigh when I see Hyde and Matthew walk out of the set of double doors and over to me. "You showed" I smiled. "Yeah, sorry about the wait. We had a few things to take care of" Hyde explained to me. I shook my head "No, don't be sorry." "Follow me" I turned on my heel before walking into the green grass and across the field. "Where are we going?" Hyde asked me. "Away from the school, where the witches magic doesn't reach" I explained as we walk over to the gates and when they opened I stepped out. When they shut behind us I knew there was no magic that could protect me outside the walls. "Ready?" I asked them both. "If you burn into dust, don't say I told you so" Matthew smirked, half joking with me. "Do you have to be dramatic?" I asked as I take the umbrella away from my body and close it. Matthew looked at me in shock as the sun beat down on my skin. Hyde knit his brows together, disbelief written on his expression, "This...." Hyde confusion expression turn into amazement. "Weird" Matthew shook his head. "What does this mean?" Matthew then asked Hyde. "That Athena is a day walker" He informed Matthew. "So, it's happened?" He asked Hyde. "To one vampire, and one Vampire only" Hyde says as I watched a butterfly zoom by me. I smiled, catching up with it before letting it fall onto my arm and letting out a giggle. "I'm more worried about the fact she woke up in the..." Matthew was suddenly hushed by Hyde as I walked back over and let the butterfly go. "I'll take my leave..." Matthew shook his head before walking back towards the school. "So, does this mean that we will no longer meet after dark?" I asked Hyde. He knit his brows together. "I guess not, if that's what you desire" He informed me. Just as we entered through the doors and walked down a hall a vampire rushed by me, slamming her shoulder into mine. My chest suddenly felt tight as ringing in my ears began. "Athena?" I heard Hyde called out to me but his voice felt so far. Just then a horrifying image flashed behind eyes. A Vampire being stabbed, blood and a voice screaming out in horror. "Stop!" I screamed. "Athena!!" I heard Hyde yell out but I couldn't bring myself out of what was going on inside my head. Just then I see that same vampire girl murdered in the middle of a hall. I sucked in air "Athena!" Hyde is over top of me. "Hey...hey what's wrong?" He questioned. "She's gonna die" I tell him. "Who?" He asked. "That vampire, the one who ran into me. Something is coming for her" I tried standing to my feet but Matthew kept me down. "No, don't get up" Matthew says. "I have to help her" I say. "You're not making any sense, how do you know she's gonna die?" Matthew asked me. "Be-because...I-I I seen the last one. Allie, I saw her get murdered" I tell them both. "Come on, we have to get you somewhere else" Hyde picked me up in on swoop before walking off with me, carrying me away in his arms.
