Chapter 5 - Chapter IV : Dungeon (3/3)

Blood painted the walls of the Dungeon red, while bathing the floor.

Hundreds of rabbit corpses filled the space, piled on top of each other like garbage bags.

The putrid air present there was replaced by the iron smell of fresh blood from these animals.

Meanwhile, I was in the center of it all, lying on the floor, almost unable to think clearly.

My body ached.

My eyes teared up from irritation.

My head felt like it was about to explode.

And above all this, my heart was beating so fast it felt like I was about to have a heart attack.

However, despite all the pain I felt, I was alive.

I managed to survive the crisis by a miracle and earned the right to rest.

— Huff... Huff... Huff... S-Status — I gasped, looking at the dirty ceiling of the Dungeon.

================================

The "miracle" that saved my life was none other than the fact that I leveled up during my battle against the rabbits; in addition to gaining new passive abilities while fighting.

All of this, combined with a sword sharp enough to kill these rabbits with a single strike, was essential for me to have gone this far.

[Warning!]

[Your mind has been overwhelmed by the excessive use of the "Parallax Vision" ability]

[The "Parallax Vision" ability will be temporarily suspended for the user's well-being.]

Of course, it's not like there were no consequences.

"... Understood."

During the fight, my body was covered in wounds and cuts, which caused me a constant loss of blood.

Due to the effect of my "Parallax Vision" ability, the pain became even more intense, feeling like I was being tortured for hours.

Despite all the pain I was feeling, I continued to fight without hesitation, seeking to kill as many rabbits as possible. I probably would have died without realizing it if it weren't for the emergence of a mysterious ability called "Regeneration".

— I would like details about the "Regeneration" ability.

================================

["Regeneration Lv3"]

RANK: D

DESCRIPTION: A basic ability of "Divine" power users, often instinctively awakened in dangerous situations.

The rank of this ability can increase as the user's faith in the god they serve grows stronger.

EFFECTS: Increase the user's regenerative abilities and numb physical pains.

The higher the Rank and level, the more effective it becomes.

TYPE: Passive

CONDITIONS: Have 1.5 or higher "Divinity" circulating in the body.

================================

Undoubtedly, this is my most powerful ability so far and also the most useful, which is unsettling, considering its rank is "D".

If Rank E is considered low, Rank D shouldn't be much different.

"I've been wondering about this for some time now, but are the Ranks of abilities and people really important?"

[Affirmative]

[The Rank of an ability indicates how powerful it is.]

[While the Rank of an individual indicates their growth potential.]

"I guess I didn't quite understand. What do you mean by growth potential?"

I had gained 10 levels in my fight against the rabbits, and my attributes had increased by about 1 point each with it.

Some of them increased a little more, probably because of all the effort I put in during the battle, but I don't believe my "Rank" is really so useless as to be discarded to this place.

[The growth potential concerns how strong your soul can become as you level up.]

Almost as if to laugh in my face, a table appeared right in front of me, showing how useless I am.

EMPTY - ?????

SSS - 25

S - 10

B - 2.0

C - 1.0

E - 0.1

================================

[While Rank E souls have their attributes increased by 0.1 when leveling up, Rank D souls have this value increased by 5 times, and Rank C souls increased by 10 times.]

Humiliating. While I had to kill over a thousand rabbits to increase my attributes by 1 measly point, my classmates would have become 20 times stronger with the same feat.

If I wanted to get revenge on the goddess, how strong would I have to become?

"For some reason, I regret asking this question. Is there even a way to increase my Rank?"

[Analyzing... 10%... 50%... 100%]

[Analysis complete!]

[Rank is an inherent attribute of the soul, so trying to forcefully modify it can lead to the destruction of the individual.]

"I understand. So, if I don't want to fall behind, I'll have to work 20 times harder than them."

— I don't think I have time to rest here — I said, getting up from the floor, ready to continue exploring the Dungeon.

Dungeons are dangerous places, with different levels of danger on each floor.

If this world follows the same logic as RPGs and light novels, a battle of the same level as my last one would be the least of my problems.

A mere rabbit was strong enough to kill me, what would happen if I fought against a really powerful monster, or the boss of this place?

So, I had only one option to survive.

— From now on, our main goal will be to eliminate all low-level monsters on this floor before moving on to the next.

[Affirmative]

◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇

Second day in the Dungeon.

For the past 48 hours, all I've done was walk and fight rabbits.

During this time, I discovered some interesting things about the dungeon.

[Warning!]

[Assassin's intent detected!]

First. The only living beings on this floor are rabbits, and they are all apparently the same.

— Sigh... Don't you ever get tired? — I said, disheartened by the battle I was about to engage in.

Second. They always move in large herds, with hundreds of individuals. All of them have the same physical strength, agility, and abilities.

— Parallax vision!

Third. They are weak and stupid.

"BOOM"

I hadn't realized this at first, but all the rabbits had a low level of battle intelligence, and their movements were all standardized.

After spending two whole days hunting them, I managed to discover their movement patterns and how their abilities worked.

"The first one will attack my legs."

"BOOM"

I cut it in half, anticipating its offensive.

"The second one will aim for my hands."

"BOOM"

I repeated the cut.

"The third one will aim for my back."

I cut another rabbit in mid-air.

"The fourth one will..."

It was strange. All the rabbits acted the same way and with the same synchrony.

It might not have been easy to notice this without my abilities, but those who were sent to this Dungeon before me should have been able to perceive it.

What made me think that I wasn't the first Rank E human to be sent to this place, but I was determined to be the last.

"Is that really true?"

After facing these stupid rabbits for a day, I started to feel hungry and sleepy.

I couldn't easily sleep here, in such a dangerous place, and I couldn't go too long without eating. So, hoping to find something to help me, I started rummaging through the corpses of the men who were killed in this place.

There was nothing special about them, except old weapons, metal items, and pieces of aged scrolls.

Although I didn't find anything to eat, I ended up finding something interesting.

"BOOM"

"SPLASH"

— Do these rabbits ever end? — I exclaimed, wiping the blood that splattered on my cheek.

[Warning!]

[It is advisable for the user to focus on the battle!]

"I know, but I still want to know if that's true."

On one of the scrolls I found, an incredibly precise map of the Dungeon was drawn, including the number of floors and the monsters existing on each of them.

I don't know who they were or how they managed to get such a thing, but one thing was certain, they were not ordinary people.

"How many meters are left for me to reach the place indicated by the map?"

[Approximately 500 meters.]

After analyzing the map, the "Divine Eyes" made a copy of it, and it is through it that I am guiding myself in the Dungeon.

I spent two whole days hunting rabbits, and my level reached only 20. I must have killed more than 8000 rabbits, and the only thing I got was to get 1 more point in each attribute.

I had already explored 90% of the floor, and it was time to move on to the next one.

"BOOM"

"SPLASH"

[You leveled up]

[All your attributes increased by 0.1 points!]

— That was the last one. Let's move on to the next floor — I said, venturing further into the abyss.

◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇

A constant flow of golden energy filled my vision, moving in an infinite vortex that seemed to

pulling me in and take me to the other side.

It was a portal, more specifically a portal identical to the one that brought me to this place.

"So the map was really true. Which means I'm finally getting closer to my goal."

[Warning!]

[A powerful presence is observing you!]

[Warning!]

[The user has been cursed!]

Suddenly, a message window different from the golden ones of the "Status" and the blue ones of the "Divine Eyes" appeared, having a much more sober and red appearance than blood itself.

[I, Tiamet, the Dragon of Wrath, welcome you!]

[All the monsters of the Dungeon await you.]
