Chapter 10 - A mysterious foe

The following days included many more fights than usual. It was like the creatures had finally realized there were two children of gods around instead of just one. Although with me on the offensive and Zane supporting me by keeping the creature from swinging towards me left them easily defeated. I could tell the others in our group feared that I was spending increasingly long amounts of time with Zane. I knew they feared us both and they figured it was only a matter of time before I told Zane what they did.

But that time would have to wait. After a battle I saw something sparkling in the sand and I ran over to it. By the time Zane caught up I had uncovered the source of the reflection. It appeared to be an abandoned mech, but still decently recent. I looked around and finally found a human, but not who I was expecting.

When I got to the body it seemed familiar. By the time I flipped it over I realized it was my younger brother Michael. I asked Zane if he had any water on him and I dumped half of it on Michael's face causing him to wake up. I gave him the other half of the bottle to drink and asked him to explain why he was out here in the desert. He said that after a while monsters started attacking the nearby houses and it was only a matter of time before he needed to leave. He managed to rig an old pickup truck into a mech for him to drive around in and when the monsters finally attacked he left and he's been walking since. Once he finally ran out of food and water he closed the cover of the mech and it eventually broke so he's been out here for about 2 days before we came by and found him.

When he asked if he could travel with us I was skeptical and initially wanted to run him back home and leave him there. Then Zane reminded me of the monsters that were ransacking the place and I finally agreed to let him join us. By the time we got back to JaJa and Kyle they had left. All that was left was a set of coordinates and a note saying I should have died when they sent me off the cliff or else none of this would've happened.

Thanks to my contacts I was able to pinpoint the exact position of the coordinates and we began walking there. The closer we got the more the air began to chill and the sky began to darken. We we finally got to the position we saw Kyle and JaJa standing in the middle of the storm. When we called out to them they turned to us then seemed to transform and combine into something terrible.
