As I walked out of Ramon's office, my mind was racing. I couldn't believe I had just had a conversation with the most feared alpha in the city. And to think, he could have remembered me from the night of my kidnapping. But luckily, he didn't seem to recognize me.
I felt a sense of relief but also a twinge of guilt for not telling him the truth. I knew I couldn't risk him finding out about that night. It could mean trouble not just for me, but for Ethan, anyone around me, and my grandma as well.
As I walked through the kitchen, lost in my thoughts, I was brought back to reality by the sound of Frank's booming voice.
"Alright, listen up everyone!" he shouted, getting everyone's attention. "We've just received word that there's going to be another party at the Alpha's residence next week, and we've been requested to cater it."
There was a buzz of excitement among the kitchen staff as Frank continued, "This is a big opportunity for us, so I need everyone to be on their A-game including you Kai. We're going to make sure that this party is one that they'll never forget."
As the meeting ended, I couldn't help but feel a sense of nervousness. This was going to be my second big event even though I wrecked the first one since starting my job at the Alpha's residence. I knew that I had to give it my all and not let my nerves get the best of me.
Over the next few days, the kitchen staff worked tirelessly to prepare for the party. We went over every detail, from the menu to the presentation of the food. And finally, the day of the party arrived.
As I stepped into the Alpha's residence where the party was to be held, I couldn't help but feel awestruck by the grandeur of it all. The decorations, the guests, the atmosphere - it was all so overwhelming. But I knew I had a job to do, so I put my nerves aside and got to work.
As the night went on, I found myself getting into the rhythm of things. I was serving food, making drinks, and doing my best to make sure that everything went smoothly. And as the night drew to a close, I felt a sense of pride in myself and my coworkers. We were going to pull off a successful event, and I knew we had to impress not just the guests, but also the Alpha himself.
My heart skipped a beat as I noticed one of the guests at the party was one of my kidnappers. I could feel my palms sweating as I served drinks, trying to avoid eye contact with him. It was the same man who had tried to rape me that night. The memories flooded back, and I felt like I was going to be sick.
But I had to stay composed. I couldn't let anyone see how I was feeling. I kept my head down and made sure to stay as far away from him as possible. Thankfully, he didn't seem to recognize me, and I was able to finish my duties without incident.
After the party, as I was cleaning up, I couldn't shake the feeling of unease that lingered within me. It was like I was reliving that horrible night all over again. I didn't know what to do or who to turn to.
As I was lost in thought, Maria, the other maid who had helped me earlier, came over to me. "Kai, are you okay?" she asked, noticing my distress.
I took a deep breath, trying to steady myself. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just a little tired, that's all."
Maria didn't look convinced, but she didn't push it. Instead, she offered to help me finish up and we worked together in silence. I was grateful for her presence, and it helped calm me down a bit.
But as I left the residence and walked home, the memories and emotions came flooding back with a vengeance. I couldn't keep it bottled up anymore. But there was nothing I could do.
