Chapter 40 - Chapter 40: The Hunt Begins

Dave soared through the skies with relentless determination, his mind focused solely on one thing: finding Helios and rescuing his sisters. The smartwatch had pinpointed Helios' location to a country called Zorandia, a small but heavily militarized nation in the southeast. The country was known for its secretive government, advanced technological experiments, and a history of questionable ethics. It made sense that Helios would hide there, using its shadowy political structure to cover his tracks.

As Dave descended toward Zorandia's borders, he observed the vast landscape below—mountainous terrain with dense forests and hidden military bases spread throughout the region. The country's infrastructure was highly protected, with advanced radar systems and aerial defenses. But none of that mattered to Dave now. His power had grown beyond anything they could anticipate, and no one was going to stop him from getting to Helios.

Touching down silently in the outskirts of a small town near the capital, Dave cloaked himself from sight using the system's advanced abilities. He needed to move carefully; if Helios caught wind of him too early, it might put his sisters in more danger. With the smartwatch feeding him continuous updates on the situation, he made his way toward the heart of Zorandia's military operations.

Through the system, he accessed encrypted communications and secret files. The more he learned, the more horrifying the situation became. Helios wasn't working alone.

The Zorandian government was complicit in the kidnappings. They had struck a deal with Helios, allowing him free reign to use their resources in exchange for... what exactly? Dave's stomach churned as he read the classified documents. Helios was conducting experiments—horrible, twisted experiments on the people he had kidnapped. These experiments were meant to enhance their abilities, but they had resulted in pain, suffering, and in many cases, death.

*He's treating them like lab rats,* Dave thought angrily. *No one deserves this.*

His heart pounded with fury as he read through the descriptions of Helios' experiments. People who had once lived ordinary lives, now broken and twisted in the name of power. It made Dave's blood boil, knowing that his sisters were likely caught up in this nightmare. He clenched his fists, his aura threatening to flare again, but he forced himself to remain calm. This wasn't the time to lose control.

"System," Dave whispered, his voice cold, "show me Helios' exact location."

The smartwatch displayed a detailed map of a hidden base deep within the mountains, far from any civilian settlements. It was heavily fortified, surrounded by security teams, and equipped with advanced weaponry. But the most alarming revelation came from the base's underground laboratories—Helios had converted part of the facility into a nightmarish research center, where his experiments took place.

Dave's eyes narrowed as the smartwatch revealed further details. The base was not just hiding Helios. It was filled with government officials, scientists, and mercenaries, all part of Helios' operation. They were helping him kidnap people, detaining them in holding cells beneath the base, and conducting unspeakable experiments in the name of science and power.

"These people are monsters," Dave muttered under his breath, his rage simmering just beneath the surface. He couldn't fathom how so many were involved in this cruelty. The system had given him power beyond anything he could have imagined, and now it was time to use it. Not just to save his sisters, but to stop this horror once and for all.

Moving swiftly, Dave teleported closer to the base, landing silently near the outer perimeter. The military forces guarding the compound were unaware of his presence as he studied the area. The base was hidden within a massive mountain complex, with layers of security systems and checkpoints to prevent unauthorized access.

Not that any of this will stop me, Dave thought grimly.

With a simple flick of his wrist, Dave sent out a pulse from his mind, hacking into the base's communication systems. Security cameras went dark, alarms were silenced, and the personnel on duty had no idea what was about to happen.

Dave took a deep breath. His mind was clear, his body ready. This was no longer a rescue mission. This was a hunt. Helios had crossed a line, and Dave was going to make sure he paid for it.

As he made his way through the first layer of defenses, incapacitating guards and shutting down weapon systems with ease, he couldn't help but think about his sisters. He had to believe they were still alive. He had to hope that he wasn't too late. But the images of the experiments haunted him, pushing him forward, driving him with an intensity he had never felt before.

The base loomed ahead, a cold, dark fortress in the mountain's heart. Dave's blood ran cold as he felt the malevolent energy radiating from within. Helios was close—he could sense it. But the base was more than just a physical barrier. It was a symbol of everything Dave stood against: the abuse of power, the destruction of innocent lives, the greed that drove men like Helios.

Dave stepped forward, his aura flickering dangerously as his rage grew. He would save his sisters. He would free the captives. And anyone who stood in his way would face the full extent of his wrath.

His mind sharpened as he approached the entrance to the underground facility. The soldiers stationed outside never had a chance. With a wave of his hand, Dave sent them crumpling to the ground, their minds instantly overwhelmed by his mental control. They weren't dead, just unconscious—but they were of no consequence to him now.

He descended into the base, his every step echoing with purpose. This was it—the heart of the operation, the center of Helios' cruel experiments. And he was going to tear it apart, piece by piece.

With one final deep breath, Dave stepped through the doors, ready to unleash his fury.
