With the company of Ray and a squad of select warriors, Linus went up the mountain settlement. There was nothing unusual they encountered along the way. Even the gates and the walls operated business as usual. What's only noticeable was the higher number of guards deployed on the ramparts, looking out for potential threats.
Above the ramparts, Linus immediately spotted the well-built and unmistakable silhouette of a hardened veteran, Rock. He waved at him from afar, and the man waved back, spotting them.
Rock went down and greeted Linus and Ray. "Brother Navark, Nephew, welcome to my fortress." He embraced the boy.
"Uncle, thanks for the warm welcome. Where's mom?" Linus asked.
"I'm here, boys! Lunch is ready!" Lina waved at them with a soft and radiant smile.
