I quickly sat down in the boarding pod chair and closed the airlocks behind me. I looked out the window and saw the top of the destroyer where I would be breaching. I brought the pod near the hull and pressed one of the buttons on my left, which sent out a special shield that connected the pod and the destroyer hull. This was a special type of shield that acted like an airlock and was specifically made for this purpose.
Quickly, the shield connected flush against the hull of the destroyer, leaving no gaps. I grabbed my vibro spear and clicked two more buttons, the first sent out a laser below the pod which quickly cut through the hull making a circular hole in the hull, and the second opened a hatch behind the chair I was in. I grabbed a disk on the back of the chair and dropped out of the hatch, falling and landing on the hull next to the hole that was made.
I glanced into the hole and noticed that the breach was in what looked like a kitchen and the piece of the hull that was cut out was lying on top of a crushed counter top. Luckily with how low the ceiling was in the room, my next job would be easier. I dropped down on top of the debris and pushed the disk I grabbed before against the side of the breach and pushed the button on the center. The disk quickly expanded across the hole and clamped itself into the hull, sealing off the hole from the open expanse of space. It's a device called a breaching seal, another standard item used in breaching for obvious reasons, and it was made by the dwarves and is found on pretty much any station for relatively cheap.
It only took a second and I looked around the room not spotting anyone yet. I saw two doors, one that was towards the center of the ship and another towards the back. I dropped down off the debris and quickly made my way to the door facing the back of the ship, keeping the spear in one hand and grabbing the pistol with the other.
Kicking the door down I walk in and see a middle aged human woman with tattered clothes on, crouched in the corner shivering and looking at me with deep fear in her eyes. It didn't take me long to notice the slave collar on her neck and seeing the scars around her body I lowered my weapons. The room we were in was a freezer and I could imagine she wasn't going to last long in here.
"Follow me." My voice came out masked and sounded deeper and more robotic than normal. She hurriedly nodded in fright and got up with shaky legs. I walk out of the freezer and towards the other door, which I assume led into the main hallway of the top floor. I gestured to the woman to go to the side of the door and wait there. She followed my order silently as I opened the door to the hallway with my pistol raised and my spear ready.
Nothing showed up in my immediate sight as I peaked around the corner into the hallway. To my left, which was towards the back of the ship, was a short hallway with what looked like boxes made into a makeshift barricade, to my left was a long hallway with what looked like another barricade further down at a cross intersection. I could see movement between the boxes of the close barricade, and I could guess there were more at the far barricade, but luckily it didn't see, like the noticed me quite yet. I quietly stepped back into the room and looked at the woman who was slightly less scared, but still extremely shaken.
"Where do they keep the other slaves, or any other stolen cargo."
She heard my voice and jerked back, but I heard her say shakily, "A-all the s-slaves are kept in the s-storage next to the e-engine room when they aren't being u-u-used." She started sobbing quietly finishing the last part. I sighed and walked over to her, "I'm from the mercenary guild. I'm here to get you all out. Let me clear out the pirates out. Could you lead me to them after I finish?" I asked softly, which didn't really come out softly with the voice changer.
She didn't respond for a minute but she looked up with a bit of hope and nodded with a resolute look in her eye, which wasn't there before. I decided to ask later, most people in her situation would look lifeless and not have that resolve anymore. It was impressive to say the least.
"Stay here, and make sure to keep quiet." I told her as I walked to the door, leaned the spear against the frame and holstered the pistol. I pulled the rifle off my shoulder and leaned out aiming at the close barricade where I could see a few pirates aiming some low grade kinetic guns at me. Not wasting time, I started shooting, quickly killing one of the pirates before moving to the next. My 100 skill in marksmanship really showed itself allowing me to easily hit even the smallest exposed body parts, even those in between the boxes from those hiding behind the boxes.
The pirates weren't idle and quickly started firing back, though their guns didn't do anything against my suit when the did hit me. I stepped back into the room and grabbed my spear, slinging my rifle back over my shoulder. I ran out of the room, using my suit to release small amounts of the kinetic energy stored from the few shots that hit me, propelling myself forward faster than any human should be able to. It only took a few seconds before I left over one of the boxes and found about six pirates behind the boxes, only two of which were still alive, the others had cauterized holes burned through various parts of the bodies.
I quickly brought my vibro spear down on the nearest pirate, who couldn't react in time as it cleanly pierced through his torso into his heart and coming out of his back. I pulled it out quickly and rushed at the last one, who had brought his gun up at this time and frantically pulled the trigger. I didn't bother dodging, letting the bullets bounce off my suit as I brought my spear across his throat, ending his life. I could hear the gunshots coming from further down the hall and the impact of the bullets on the barricade. I set my spear on the ground and grabbed my rifle, looking down the scope and started firing back at the pirates down the hall. The difference was immediately noticeable as fewer and fewer shots came from down the hall until they gradually stopped. I turned behind me and noticed two more doors further down towards the back of the ship before the hallway ended. Deciding to clear them first I made my way to the door on the left and listened closely, not hearing anything I got ready to breach the door.
