After hearing the sharp noise of the alarm, Auriel either couldn't stay calm for more than a second.
In this world, gate openings were normal occurrences, but this didn't reduce the dread that came from knowing that a gate opened in this area and letting out vicious beings.
It was pretty normal to be panicked about it, as the beings that gates were letting out were mindless fiends or intelligent creatures that only wanted to destroy and kill everything they saw.
And Auriel, who was recently Awakened, was just a weak little human in front of the ferocious fiends, hence he was very much concerned about his life.
Though he didn't lose himself to the panic. He had been under constant pressure from the gods when he was the narrator, hence he was used to the pressures of all kinds.
But this didn't mean that he liked it, on the contrary, Auriel hated the pressure he was feeling right now because it was reminding him about his time in the Divine realm. Being very much helpless in front of the gods, who had absolute strength over him was a very traumatic time for him.
But this time was different, he was now outside of the Divine realm and improving every day to be not helpless again. He wasn't scared of a mere fiend.
He turned to Gordon, who had a stone cold face, and calmly asked.
"Did you sense the location of the gate and its power level?"
Which Gordon sternly nodded and seriously said:
"It is near here and it is a Master rank gate, young master Auriel. I advise us to stay here until soldiers from Weaver mansion come and eliminate the threats."
Auriel took a good look at Gordon and saw him in a different light than before. Gordon was a useless idiot in the eyes of Auriel but after seeing his professional demeanor, Auril thought something along the lines of 'So, he isn't entirely useless huh…'
"Alright, let's do that." Auriel nodded as he thought that he would be safe here, under many Masters and potentially Grandmasters that were protecting Killian's Golden Goose.
A Master rank gate meant that the creatures that came from there were something a Master could deal with, Master rank gate usually lets out Monstrosity, Devolved, and Changeling creatures. Though with an extremely small chance, they could let out an Aberration, but only 1, nothing more.
Hence, Auriel was mostly safe in this place.
Auriel went back to the Weaver lounge and sat down on the couch, making himself comfortable.
Then, screams of anguish from the humans and sounds of metal clashing with metal came from everywhere. A metallic blood scent came over Auriel's nose, making him frown with displeasure.
Auriel turned to Elise and Sebastian to check their mental conditions, which weren't good at all.
Elise was hugging her knees and sobbing quietly, flinching whenever a scream came from near. Auriel didn't have any particular comment about this girl as she was still a naive teenager.
As for Sebastian, he was a coward through and through. He fell onto his butt when he heard the first scream and couldn't even get up from the floor.
Autiel didn't know how he was too unlucky to get a very cowardly death row criminal among the many notorious ones.
And lastly Gordon, his green eyes were sleepy as before but his expression was rigid and his spear was ready to pierce through the fiends and humans alike.
"So, what do you think, Gordon? Isn't there too much human screaming for a Master rank gate?" Auriel inquired with doubt.
Gordon's eyes opened a little bit wider and a slight smile appeared on his serious face, as if he was proud of the observation skills of Auriel, then nodded slowly.
"You are right, young master Auriel. Probably the creatures are hard to deal with for the guards. Armored or maybe sneaky ones."
"Hmm, you are right. But you bastard, who are you to be proud of me? " Auriel said harshly but before getting any answer, he lifted his palm and curiously asked.
"What is your ability by the way?"
Instead of answering Auriel's question, Gordon just took a step forward and touched Elise's forehead.
Suddenly Elise go limp and collapsed onto Auriel like a doll that was string cut.
Auriel checked her heartbeat and breathing, then turned to Gordon.
"You can make people sleep? It seems useful but I hope you can use it at a distance without any physical contact." Auriel commented and pushed Elise over him.
"It is not only making people sleep, young master Auriel. It is the concept of sleep, I can make your nerves 'sleep' to lessen pain and feelings or slow down the movements of people." Gordon lingered for a moment and added:
"I can use this at a distance but I need to see the target and get a little bit closer. I think 15 feet is enough."
Auriel nodded with understanding and gave his thought:
"Okay. I think the fiends are using something metallic from the sounds I am hearing, maybe a fiend with claws or humanoid creatures that are using metallic items."
"You are probably right, young master Auriel. I think it would be best if you stay back…"
Gordon stopped his sentence in half and focused on the door, precisely under the door where blood was seeping inside the room, emitting a strong metallic odor.
"Welp, what a dramatic entrance from a mindless monster…" Auriel couldn't help but comment lightly and summoned the dark, metallic string that he stored in his soul.
