Chapter 32 - Chapter 32

Davien's P. O. V

I sat stilly watching him sleep, until I caught my father's scent approaching steadily. It seemed like Oliver couldn't keep him away for too long. And although it seemed like a waste to leave what I was doing, I reluctantly got out of bed and made for the door, intercepting him before he could cause any damage.

I pulled the door open and shuffled out of the room, thankfully I caught him right as he was about to yank the door open.

"Davien, what's this I hear about you bringing back that Omega?" He raised his voice while trying to peak behind me in the most unnatural manner.

"He's sleeping let's talk elsewhere." I said and closed the door behind me. Father widened his eyes, but followed nonetheless, he knew when not to try his luck with me.

I led him as far away from Kian as possible, taking him to one of the libraries in the mansion, which served as an archive for our packs history from three centuries up till date. Considering it's far proximity from the bedrooms and serene atmosphere, I used to hook up with girls back when I was around Kian's age.

Or maybe I was three years younger at the time, my memory was shit when it came to that sort of stuff.

"You've drawn me away from the subject of my interest, now Davien care to explain what the hell is going on to your old man?" He asked, demanding more than inquiring.

"If I said no would you go away?"

He frowned, "That boy is nothing but trouble, you've heard all about him, he even went to prison Davien." Father said, reminding me of that fact for the upteenth time.

I folded my arms across my chest and reclined against the nearest shelf. I stole a glance at the ceiling, adorned with patterns of the half moons and majestic wolves carved and painted in an illuminating silver and blue hue.

My ancestors apparently. The grand audience to me getting off from a handjob from a different she wolf at every pack event.

"Davien answer me damnit!" Father cursed drawing my attention back to him.

"He's going to be staying here for a while." I declared, a decision that made my father snap at me.

"I don't think I heard that correctly, you don't mean that Omega will be, right?"

"His name is Kian." I inserted, "I don't give a damn about that kid's name! Just what sort of stunt are you hoping to pull? Don't think I'm not serious about disinheriting you." He threatened, flashing his trunk card.

Continuing his distasteful lecture he went on to say, "The hunt is in a week's time, and we should use that opportunity to get you and Silvia into tying the knot faster. Don't you see this is all for your benefit?"

"Look, father." The word 'father' was uttered with indictment, "I don't need to be coddled, whomever I decide to bring back with me is my business. Placing that aside, Kian is my mate in case you've forgotten and not Silvia. The sooner you get past that, the better." Just as I said that, I heard Oliver through the mind link.

'Davien, I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but your mate is…' I didn't wait to hear the rest and dashed out of the library, ignoring father's calls from behind me.

This bastard, he planned to lure me away from Kian from the start!

I jumped down the entire fleet of stairs, my hostility was at an all time high as my nose picked up on the scent of what I hoped wasn't what I thought it was. However my nightmare was turned into a reality when I stepped outside to the main patio, only to see Kian forced onto his knees, with his hands tied in front of him.

"You're still adamant you won't obey me?! You insolent pup!" Gretel spat at him, raising her bloodied claws over her head, an angry scowl on her face.

"Tch." Kian spat at her feet, blood trickled from his left arm down to his tightly bondaged wrists.

"I'm the Alpha's mate, so who the hell are you to tell me what to do?" He retorted in a cocky manner, despite bleeding out.

The other elders were appalled by his response, Vincent stepped forward and with a clenched fist he aimed to punch Kian square in the face.

As if I would let him.

I charged furiously towards him, unrepentant over the fact that I was planning to beat up the elderly.

'Davien stop!' Oliver called out to me through the mindlink, but I was too focused on wanting to detach Vincent's arm to listen. Oliver ended up rushing towards me and holding back my arm, stoping me last second.

"Let go now Oliver." I growled, staring daggers at the punch which was just seconds away from happening.

'I can't, Kian told me right before this happens to stop you from saving him and to not forget your plan. So please just stand down.' he said through the mindlink, using all his strength to hold me back.

I could tell he was serious since he was employing this great deal of strength, but that alone wasn't enough to convince me.

Narrowing my eyes, I grabbed onto his wrist and yanked it off. "I said let go." This time the command was issued with an eye shift, my final warning to Oliver to stand down.

A warning he was smart to adhere to.

But it was too late, by the time Oliver had let go, that bastard Vincent had landed a square punch on Kian's face, sending him falling head first to the ground.

"Someone clean this up!" Gretel announced, casting a disgusted glance at my mate who had passed out cold on the concrete floor.

Content with what they had done, the elders filed out towards their quarters, whilst the spectators who watched and did nothing dispersed. The clean up that was ordered involved taking the ropes off him and wiping off the blood that strayed onto the nearby fountain.

Once this was all completed everyone but Oliver and I remained.

"Those bastards." I cursed marching over to him, I hooked my arms underneath him and made for my room. I walked past Oliver wearing a scowl, he couldn't meet my eyes and lowered his head.

"I apologize for not stopping this Alpha." He managed to say, although I wish he wouldn't say anything at all.

"Send the medical supplies to my room." I ordered, he nodded and rushed to do just that.

I held Kian tightly to my chest and ascended the steps slowly so as not to cause him wound to open more and get infected. He was out cold and would most definitely not wake up until tomorrow, or at best midnight.

Outside, it started to rain heavily, the grey clouds made the atmosphere dark and gloomy matching my current state of mind. When Kian's pained expression played before my eyes, I gritted my teeth in deep regret.

It was as I gazed with crimson red eyes at his pale self and his bleeding arm that the primal instinct to protect Kian started to form within me.

I was never going to let him out of my sight again.
