Chapter 10 - Chapter 10

Davien's P. O. V

I never knew I had such wonderful flooring, until I paced about them in a left and right motion, waiting outside the room where Kian had his meeting.

"This kid, did he pass out or something?" I voiced out my thoughts, running my fingers through my hair. It had been almost an hour and I hadn't heard a single sound from inside.

I would have gone inside to check on him, however the stinger he gave me at the door was proof enough that he didn't want me intruding on his conversation.

This situation was absurd.

With not too many options left, I sauntered over to refrigerator and pulled out a can of beer, then retreated to my study to do some digging of my own.

I pulled myself a chair and turned on my laptop, my left hand went underneath the drawer and reached for my reading glasses. After slipping them on, I began to read through the names sent to us by the Halfmoon pack.

"Are all these names really fake?" I had a copy sent to me some years back for future reference. It never crossed my mind that I would need to revisit this list for this purpose.

"This will be a long night." I said out loud, bringing the cold can to my pale lips, as my eyes scanned through the rows and columns, checking for any irregularities.

---------------

I scrunched my nose at the familiar scent of my shampoo, and arched my brows when something moist brushed against my left cheek. My eyelids flickered open, allowing me to catch a delicate wrist scrolling quickly through my laptop.

My body quickly reacted.

"What are you doing?" Kian's flat voice inquired, his gaze lazily averted to my grip on his wrist.

"I should be asking you that." I took a quick sweep and noticed that not only had he taken a bath, he had changed into my old grey hoodie from my college days.

He gestured my eyes to look at the screen, which I reluctantly did, only to find myself stunned. Highlighted in red, were the dates of birth of some of the missing rogues from the halfmoon pack.

"These dates don't make any sense, if you add up the date of birth, you'd see that the ages exceed the age range of these missing wolves." Kian told me, keeping his eyes focused on the screen.

Whilst, from the corner of my eye, I tracked down the length of my hoodie to his knees. My lips curled into a frown to see the fabric held onto him tightly, giving no way for it to ride up when he walked.

Not that I wanted that.

"Just because they don't fall into the estimated age range doesn't implicate them." I reminded him, he tilted his head to the side, and gave me a square look.

"Aren't you aware that the age range comprises of wolves who hadn't shifted yet. But according to this list, some of these people are already over eighteen." He explained, dangerously close to my face.

I could feel Ralph wagging his tail, overly excited at the thought of our mate in my house, dressed in my clothes, so close to me.

Shit! This wasn't my first, second, or third mate, so why was this happening all of a sudden?

"What do you think?" Kian suddenly asked, pulling me out of my thoughts, I dry coughed then looked at the screen.

Gently massaging my temples, I answered, "It's true that the age might raise a brow, I'll have the list sent to my secretary to get a background check."

My response was met with a questioning stare, "Can you afford to trust her?" He asked, taking his hands off the keys, turning to face me completely, giving me a royal view of him.

Water droplets dripped from his soft black locks of hair, onto the sides of his ashen neck. His figure was completely swallowed by my hoodie, which could barely contain my broad chest and muscles at the time I bought it.

Hold that thought...

"Did you go through my closet?" I snapped at him, vividly recalling that said hoodie was hung at the end of my walking closet.

In place of an answer, the kid lowered himself in front of me, making me recline into my seat until I could no longer draw a distance between us. He reached for the right side of my face, his serious gaze never faltered as he became even closer that his breath fanned against the tip of my nose.

What was going through this pup's head?

I bit my cheeks when his fingers brushed my ear, his touch was unlike the others, simply because it wasn't experienced...nor did it hold any malicious intent.

I grunted, "What do you think..." Midway through my speech he sharply cut me off.

"Your glasses was crooked, take better care to notice these annoying habits." His unequivocal tone made my blood boil.

He wiped his hand against my hoodie, like my skin was the plague, then picked up the empty can of beer next to my laptop.

"Do all the women you bring here have to witness you be such a slob?" He clicked his tongue and turned around, walking towards the open door.

I curled my fingers into tight fists, counting the jail sentence in my head for murder.

"And you?" I sharply retorted, halting his steps, "Do you usually make yourself feel at home in stranger's houses?" His eyes darkened at my words.

"Taking a bath, going through my closet, peering into my laptop without permission. Are these things you normally do?" Although it sounded petty, the idea of him getting angry at my words made me smirk.

But then, a part of me felt angered when I realized that he might have truly done these things to someone else. He might have another person's clothes and even showered in their bathroom too.

I could feel Ralph's hostility eating away at my resolve, I was the one who initiated the idea to mock him, but I was the one getting affected.

"Yes, I have done all these things to different strangers, to the point that I cannot recall their faces." Kian told me with serious eyes.

"However, the only difference between you and them is that..." His eyes wandered about the room, till they settled on a trash can next to a high shelf.

Effortlessly he threw the can of beer into the bin without looking, then turned to the door and rested his hand on the handle.

"You're sitting behind your desk, while they're sitting on wheelchair." Without giving me any time to react, he walked through the door and closed it behind him.
