Chapter 31 - Chapter 31

Davien's P. O. V

The night passed on quietly, I stayed outside the hotel room guarding the door until I fell asleep against it. To anyone who passed by, it must've been an interesting sight, seeing the city's renounced fuckboy crouched down against a hotel room door.

I would've stayed asleep for an hour longer had Kian not stepped out and opened the door.

My feet got off the floor and turned to face him. If I thought I looked like shit, then I had another thing coming. The dark circles underneath his eyes and the puffiness that followed gave me an idea how his night must've been.

"Here." He weakly said, handing over my sweater, I took it off his hands and noticed his scent was all over it.

Did he hug it to sleep or something?

"About last night…"

"About last night…"

We both said at the same time, his in a depressed tone and mine in a more elated manner. I kept quiet allowing him to go first, he rested a hand at the back of his neck, highlighting his bedhead.

"I apologize for that break in transmission, it was overly dramatic of me. Moving forward I recommend avoiding any situation that would arouse intimacy between us both." Kian suddenly announced in a rather guarded tone.

"Is that so?"

He inhaled then exhaled, "That's all I have to say."

In response I tossed my sweater over my shoulder and turned towards the elevator at the end of the hallway. "Suit yourself." I said under my breath loud enough for him to hear.

My ears caught wind of a hesistant lip parting as though Kian had something he wished to say, but no sooner had he parted his lips than he closed them right back.

"Let's go, there's no one around for a ten mile radius." I told them, as the doors to the elevator parted open….

"You'll be staying here until the threat has been fully neutralized." I announced, driving through the woods that led to the main estate of the Night Howlers territory.

"I didn't consent to this decision."

"Would you rather I drive you to your packhouse then?" I sternly retorted, Kian slightly arched his brows, but recovered quickly from his stun.

"No, this will do." I heard him say, before he rested his head against the car glass and closed his eyes, catching a wink of sleep before we arrived.

I stole a glance at him but that only seemed to fuel the anger welling up inside. Granted, I wasn't mad at Kian, what I was mad at was my own helplessness. I wanted to help him in someway, but he made sure to make that pretty difficult for me.

My thoughts were disrupted by the familiar scent of the watch-keepers making the rounds. They must've been caught off guard by Kian's scent and gotten into an attack formation.

'It's fine, he's with me.' I announced through the mind link, on hearing their Alpha's voice they immediately stood down and stepped aside for me to go through.

However, that didn't mean they didn't throw all sorts of disgruntled stares at the pup, it was a miracle Kian was able to sleep through all this. What could possibly have made him feel so safe to lower all his defenses in enemy territory?

The news must've spread fast, because by the time I pulled over at the main estate, I could count around twenty pack members all watching earnestly to see just who I brought back.

Oliver of course was in attendance to this bizarre welcome.

'You can't be fucking serious? You brought him here?!' Oliver asked walking over to the car.

'Stay right there, I'll get him out myself.' I warned him, the incident with him meeting with Kian behind my back was still fresh. Ralph and I both felt the need to keep this troublesome pup away from anyone beside us.

For his own safety of course.

I stepped out then walked over to his door, I pulled it open then hooked my arms underneath his back and legs. Careful not to wake him up, I lifted him out of the car and kicked the door shut.

Oliver maintained a five step distance behind me, "Have you finally decided you want the council to butcher you?" He stressed walking briskly behind.

I didn't say a word so as not to wake him up, I mounted the steps and walked past a line of wolves and she-wolves who had their heads bowed.

"Welcome back Alpha." They chorused simultaneously, stealing glances at who was in my arms.

Oliver followed until he reached my bedroom door, "Don't allow anyone in for the next ten hours. I don't want to be disturbed." I announced then walked inside.

"And your father? He's going to want to see you first thing upon hearing about all of this." He made a face at Kian, then at my arms which held him tightly to my chest.

Through the mindlink he said, 'You just walked through the mansion holding your ex fiance's younger brother. It's like you're a walking catastrophe.'

I was about to respond, but Kian stirred a bit in his sleep, perhaps my arms and chest weren't of much comfort. Without saying another word I dashed into the room and shut the door behind me.

My lips curled into a satisfied grin at the sight of neatly ironed white sheets spread over the king sized bed. Although I didn't live much in the packhouse, the room was tidied everyday and the sheets changed regularly.

Kian moaned the second his body made contact with the bed. A satisfied grin escaped my lips, he nestled into the bed nicely laying on his side. His hair fell upon his eyelids and well defined eyelashes, giving off a messy yet comfortable impression.

I sat next to him on the bed careful not to make too much of a ruckus, then with my index finger I tucked some of his hair to the side, until I was in full view of his peaceful resting face.

"Mhmm," he moaned deeply against my touch on his forehead, my lips pushed forward into an intrigued 'O', though he may not realize it, but even in his sleep, Kian exuded aroused pheromones…
