Davien's P. O. V
Kian stirred in his sleep and let out a groan, he had been doing that for the past fifteen minutes, which led me to believe that he was in the middle of a an agonizing nightmare. He exuded an even blend of fear and terror, with each overwhelming the other at intervals. I tossed the cloth I had been previously using to wipe his sweat away, and sat next to him on the bed.
I stared at his bandaged right arm, if he kept moving like that he would lie on it soon. With not much of a choice, I stretched myself beside him and gently wrapped my arms around him.
"Mhmm…"
My left hand responded to his moan and stroked the back of his head gently, grazing my palm against his soft hair.
"It's alright, I'm here." I cooed him, the first time in my life that I had ever done something of the sort.
He nestled into my embrace, he must've recognized my scent, because the fear and terror I detected slowly dispersed. His body which was trembling in my embrace stilled, and his breathing evenly regulated, he was calming down.
I laid next to him holding him dearly for what felt like hours without getting tired. This wasn't acting out based on plain attraction or interest, neither was it pity.
This kid had started to grow on me. But what I couldn't figure out, was if it was natural or just because of the mate bond. Would I still feel this way about him if I rejected him?
"Hey."
My chest tightned at the familiar voice, I shifted my gaze from the bookshelf to Kian, who stared intently at me with his piercing blue gaze.
"Hey." I replied, he tried to move but soon realized he had hurt him arm. "Tch." He hissed and closed his eyes, I hastily tipped his head down.
"Just stay put or else you'll reopen your wound." If I had to take a guess then I would say it was just an hour or two past midnight, though I wouldn't know since the curtains were drawn close and the lights dimmed.
I could feel Kian's pulsating body against mine, and it was then that I realized just how much smaller he was than I was. If I squeezed hard enough, I might actually snap his bones.
"My arm…" he pointed out.
"The wound is still fresh, it took a while for the bleeding to stop." I told him, "It came as a shock when your wounds didn't close on time."
He inhaled slowly then exhaled through his slightly parted lips, my eyes followed his body movements in a trance like manner, from his soft looking lips to his damp neck with hair sticking to it's side.
"My regeneration is slower than most shifters." He explained, filling in the blanks.
"Is that a trait common with most Omegas?" As an Alpha, my wounds almost immediately regenerated, well that was because of my superior Alpha trait, but still. Most of the wolves we trained in combat could regenerate in less than five minutes.
Softly he answered, "Omegas do tend to regenerate at a slower pace, but it would seem that I am a set apart case. I regenerate just a bit faster than a human would."
"What?" I whispered loudly, "It hurts for that long? I've never had to make with pain for longer than two minutes. You're impressive Kian." I said in complete admiration, he was the first wolf I had encountered that was this way.
It made my interest in him spark.
Whereas I was impressed, Kian blankly stared at me for some seconds, then blinked away his confusion. Averting his eyes from my gaze he looked at the ceiling and mumbled softly.
"You're dangerous…wearing your emotions so brazenly on your face."
I wanted to ask him what he meant by that, but knew he wouldn't answer and just deflect the question. Hence, I decided to change the topic.
"You told Oliver to stop me from helping you, why?"
With his gaze still glued to the ceiling he replied, "We talked about this before, we have to paint the picture that you are dissatisfied with your mate, and for that to work you can't side with me." He turned his head and caught my raw stare.
"You have to promise me, that from now on you won't help me out. Let them believe you hate me." Kian declared in an all too serious tone.
I wanted to take a picture of this scene and shove it in front of him. How could he expect me to stand back when we were already so close…close enough that I could bridge the gap between us if I tipped my head forward.
In a quieter voice he voiced out, "Promise me Davien."
Now it was my turn to avert my eyes from his, if not I would fall straight into his honey trap.
"I don't want to see anyone get hurt, be it my mate or not. Pretending we're on bad terms is one thing but watching you get hurt is something I won't allow." I said meaning every word.
"It's not like you're the one getting hurt, and I'll heal anyway, I don't understand why you're against this." Kian expressed, his words proved to ignite my anger even more.
Without giving it a second thought, I shifted from my craddling position and towered over Kian, my sudden movement made him flicker his eyelids like crazy trying to keep up.
"Listen, because I'll only say this one." I caged him in-between my arms and gazed intently at his icy glare, never letting his eyes wander from mine for even a second.
"It is never okay to cause yourself pain for any reason whatsoever. Be it for my sake, or anyone else's, including yours. I don't want to see anyone I'm responsible for get hurt. And I won't allow it, so my answer is no. As your Alpha, I refuse to stand back and watch you get hurt ever again." I declared firmly, making sure he got the message I pinched his chin and lowered his lips.
"You're attracted to me right? So this much wouldn't hurt." Were the last things I said to him, before I crashed my lips onto his, locking them in a lustful kiss…
