I am Gin, a notorious pickpocket on the outskirts of the city of Whions. Tonight, a thick fog covers the city, making it difficult to see anything. I am looking for a new target to pickpocket. Suddenly, I see a handsome young man with black hair and glowing red eyes walking alone on the streets. I am immediately drawn to the ring on his finger and decide to follow him.
Gin continues to follow the man in the black cloak cautiously, but he doesn't realize that the man already knows about him. The man starts to chuckle and feels there's no need to worry about Gin's presence.
Suddenly, the man stops at a place and stares straight at Gin. Gin feels annoyed that he has been caught and plans to take the ring and run as fast as possible. But before Gin can move, the man chants a low mantra, "Impetro Lost."
Gin feels his body becoming light and his head spinning. He looks around but doesn't know where he is anymore. The fog thickens and confuses Gin even more. Gin tries to walk backward, but he falls and hits his head. After a few moments, Gin feels unconscious.
Gin wakes up from his unconsciousness and thinks, "to hell with that man in the black cloak," while looking around the still foggy and misty surroundings. He decides to return to his hideout in Area 13. However, on his way home, he finds the Joane ring lying on the street somehow. "This is my lucky day," he mutters to himself.
He can't contain his excitement and immediately takes the ring. "I'll be rich!" he shouts with enthusiasm.
After leaving the outskirts of the city, the man realizes that his ring has been lost from his index finger and he feels panicked and shocked. The man immediately chants the mantra "persequimur scopum" loudly, which summons a shadow in the shape of a crow to chase and find his ring.
The crow flies back to the outskirts of Whions, hearing Gin's shout, and follows the source of the shout to find Gin holding the ring.
Meanwhile, Gin runs around happily, continually gazing at the ring he stole. He doesn't realize that the crow is tailing him. Gin thinks he has successfully escaped, but he's wrong. The crow finds Gin's trail and keeps chasing him.
