Chapter 24: Beelzebub's Masterpiece (4)
Having no time to even look at his grand magic, Beelzebub ordered his soul trees to finish the deal.
The evil trees extended their branches and wrapped them around the monster queen's wings. In an instant, they tore them off her form and cast them aside as though tossing away the trash. Beelzebub's forest then coiled around The Ant Queen's form like tentacles, squeezing her to death.
Against such tough barks fueled by Beelzebub's legendary skill and evolution path — the skill which was also a prelude to the supreme magic — only a divine miracle could have possibly saved the monster queen.
Alas, she was not the chosen one.
Her shape quickly became disfigured under the assault of nature magic, with countless wounds leaking out unique blue blood. Seconds later, more of that special liquid fountained off The Ant Queen. While the forest had been slowly molding her body into a pellet — and she couldn't do anything about it — her blue eyes fell onto the demon.
Beelzebub was on the edge of death as well.
He kept screaming louder and more intensely, holding his chest tightly. He no longer cared about his broken left arm and shoulder, sometimes rolling on his broken bones. And it didn't even matter or wound him, for nothing was comparable to the pain of going against the boundaries set by the world.
And as the remaining of his limbs flailed no end, Beelzebub wanted to get hold of them to throw a medicine into his mouth. Stopping the heavenly pain would be a blessing, but Beelzebub didn't count on that. All he wanted was to cease the bleeding and have his flesh regenerate.
Unfortunately, when David somehow put the pill into his mouth, his endless screams threw the medicine away, not giving him a chance to heal.
It brought joy to the dying Ant Queen… soon her blue eyes became devoid of light, announcing her death. Well, if a pellet of her mangled body was not enough to declare her demise, then there was that…
Next, The Forest Of The Lord Of Souls withered away, leaving behind the holes of its seeds and the dead monster queen.
A lot of Beelzebub's pain lessened then, but the heavens still condemned him, continuing their punishment.
He banged his head on the ground, sank his nails into his chest, and spat more of his blood and saliva.
The torment seemed endless…
And yet, David didn't blame anyone.
He hadn't thought of blaming someone for that.
He didn't even put himself in a position to complain about his hurdles.
'Betrayed twice… I had no one… on… Earth… always played the game… and lived off that… never wanted to feel that pain again…' David reasoned with his current position amidst the punishment, which seemed as though he wanted to reach the heavens. 'And when… I got people… to become… friends with… I was far too gone… never noticed their… feelings… always kept… a distance… which… they didn't mind… for thousand years…'
The legendary quest had said that everyone from Beelzebub's team had gone their ways. They had an argument, received different quests, and followed it to reunite with their master. To say nothing of those quests being dangerous and life-threatening, what if Beelzebub never returned?
What if he returned and lived a normal life without even thinking of meeting people of his status? There were so many questions and possible scenarios, yet Beelzebub's maids had taken a risk to reunite with him and even help him become stronger than he already was.
David didn't know what others had gone through, but Gloria had surely spent years traversing the world alone in search of the keys. Moreover, if Bruno was right, she was in a slumber for around seven hundred years.
Worse, her body is in the ice prison, which the demons of the chasm use for their own plan, hurting her.
David didn't doubt that the rest had suffered as well… therefore, the pain coursing through him was what he accepted with open arms. No one said his path to the top would be easy.
And it didn't matter who had it worse or better.
His selfish wish put his close people on the test while keeping him in a safe spot for years: now, it was Beelzebub's time to rise in strength to protect and develop those valuable bonds.
It was time for him to suffer more on this arduous path…
'I found people… I can mutually trust… for them… I will… break the limits and contradict myself… as many times as it takes!'
…and Beelzebub shall remain victorious on that route!
[You have received a new title!]
[Against the heavens(???) - ???]
[Your player bloodline has been updated.]
[The Devil Lineage(???).]
The moment Beelzebub had received that title, the pain subsided and became the past. He was still flat and the first face to the ground, keeping his eyes close, but boundless relief had finally settled into him.
David took medicine to restore his stamina and health points and to fix his broken left side.
And then, he sat down cross-legged, overlooking the situation.
[Beelzebub(David) Lv. 41 HP: 5410/22 000 MP: Infinite]
An army of his souls was still at service, and The Ant Queen was gone… so nothing threatened Beelzebub. He had grown considerably stronger and needed to cautiously evolve his skills and pick useful ones, too. The new title and the player bloodline's update were mysterious, so Beelzebub didn't give them too much thought.
He just suspected what the heavenly and devil lineages could mean and how much each lineage differed their systems.
But more than anything, David wanted to leave this place and sleep.
"I hope all of you sleep regularly… Ah, Gloria, I'll soon make you sleep regularly and well… An ice tomb is not a good bed for you." Beelzebub faintly smiled and compelled himself to stand up.
He then stuffed his right hand into his pocket and fished out the small pearl. "With this, I can finally threaten you, the demons of the chasm."
At last, David could install his schemes directly in the demon's prison!
It was required to free Gloria and make them pay for tinkering with her bloodline.
Beelzebub's eyes flashed with malicious killing intent.
He would do and become anything to reach the masterpiece his heart desired.
And it was the vista of his maids being more than friends, with him being in the middle of them.
A lovely relationship.
