Theodore woke up to the bright sunlight coming in through the big windows of the living room. Rubbing his eyes he began to get up slowly, his head was throbbing, which led him to realize he must have drank too much last night. He planned to get ready, and then begin his exercises for the day. He would then practice with his rapier, and then eat before going into the dungeon.
As he got up, he suddenly heard a footstep behind him. He instantly materialized his rapier and jumped forward. He felt a gust of wind blow past his neck, just barely missing him. He quickly rolled as he landed and stood up quickly. Pointing his rapier at his assailant. It was a young woman, she was holding a sword and shield, slowly approaching him with her shield held up. We both stood silently, sizing each other up looking for an opening.
"Why did you attack me?" I asked, seeing that we were currently at a stalemate.
"Why are you in my Dad's house, and what did you do to my dad?" she asked back.
Her dad's house? Her dad?
"Are you talking about Mr. Hanson? I bought this house yesterday, and I even spoke to your dad for a while. You must be his daughter Hailey." I said, lowering my rapier.
"You're a liar, my dad isn't selling the house. I was here literally the day before yesterday."
"If you don't believe me, just call your dad. He listed the house yesterday, and I bought it right away." I shrugged my shoulders and raised my palms helplessly. I sat down on a chair and just looked at her.
The woman put her sword down, and pulled out a phone. She called someone, and then began talking in a hushed tone. Her face was a Rollercoaster of emotions going from vigilance, skepticism, into embarrassment and finally apologetic.
"I am so sorry sir! I didn't know that he had sold the house. I was gone yesterday so I was surprised to find someone sleeping in the living room and suddenly attacked you. I recently had to go through something where my life was at risk, so I was a little on edge."
Hailey bowed while saying all this hurriedly. I raised my eyebrows when she said her life was at risk. I also saw that the sword and shield were now gone. There was only one explanation.
"You... You are a Hunter?" I said, quietly, afraid that who knows who would hear me otherwise. To which her eyes went wide.
"Are you one too?!" She jumped over the couch and sat on an ottoman in front of me. "I was worried I was the only one! I was scared I was even going crazy but then I was able to pull out my items when I woke up so I just thought it was me. What is your system?! Mine is the Dismantle and Assembly System! I can deconstruct items, get their components, and then assemble different items that require certain materials! Although I need blueprints, which I haven't found yet, the drop rate of items in the Dungeons is terrible too. I killed five wolves yesterday and I didn't receive anything."
This girl talks a lot... I thought to myself. She was nice though... and pretty.
"My name is Theodore, I have the Guaranteed Drop System, which means that every monster I kill is guaranteed to drop an item. I read yesterday in my system that the item that is dropped has to be an item that the creature is capable of dropping, which means each creature has a loot table of possible items they can drop. Also your system can level up, empowering your system further. It will grow stronger the more dungeons you clear. Also, have you not looked at any of the other features? There is a shop and even stats. Also, didn't you receive the message about there being other Hunters? How did all Hunters receive the beginner chest?" I asked, a little confused how she thought she was the only Hunter.
"Woah! You're right!" she said, after fiddling with the air. I guess even other Hunters cannot see each other's system screens. "Wouldn't your system and my system work really well together? Since you'll always get items, I am sure not all of them will be useful, and my system can turn them into useful materials to create items now."
