Chapter 2 - First Kill

After which a small silhouette began to materialize right in front of Theodore. He knew this was a Goblin, and that he would have to kill it. As it was still materializing, Theodore rushed forward and stabbed at its head with his rapier, intending to kill it before it could react.

However he was not met with the resistance of piercing flesh, instead his rapier went straight through, and he instead saw a new notification.

[Enemies cannot be killed while materializing. Temporary penalty will be applied.]

[50% reduction in stats for 1 minute.]

[Enemies will enter a berserk state for 1 minute.]

Oh shit, Theodore thought, he immediately retracted his rapier. The Goblin began to take shape, with the build of a child, it was green all over. It had tiny legs, a big belly, and little green arms with three fingers that had long sharp nails. Its mouth is full of sharp pointed teeth, and it's long green pointed ears. It was salivating the moment it finished materializing, and it immediately looked towards Theodore. Locking on him. It rushed straight towards him, without a second for him to prepare.

Theodore tried to turn and run, but he was even slower than normal. There was no chance of outrunning the Goblin, when that thought became apparent to Theodore he tried to turn around and take a proper fighting stance with his rapier. However before he could even turn around, his back became wet and hot. A sharp pain instantly spread all over his back, shooting to his brain. The Goblin had caught up to him instantly, and slashed at his back with its sharp nails.

Theodore fell to the ground with a cry of pain, and turned over just in time to see the Goblin pouncing at him with its jaws agape. The razor sharp teeth were coming straight at him, and Theodore could only instinctively raise his arm to block. The Goblin happily bit into his arms, sinking its teeth deep enough to hit his forearm bones.

Screaming out in pain again, tears running down his face, Theodore began to think frantically for a solution. He quickly opened his inventory and used the Overclock Scroll.

His power doubled, however he only felt back to the way he always did. He was still under the effect of the penalty! He looked at the timer and saw that there were still 10 seconds left of the penalty, with the scroll only giving him 30 seconds of power, he would only have 20 seconds to kill the Goblin before his body gave up and he was a free meal.

Theodore grabbed his rapier tightly, even though he would be unable to slash at the Goblin or stab at it, he held it by the pommel and began to smash it into the goblins head. The pommel had a guard, that was used to protect the wielder's fingers, that was now being used like a boxing glove. Raining down blows, Theodore suddenly felt invigorated. His penalty had worn off, and now he had the strength of a normal adult male. His blows began to strike harder, and the Goblin's grip on his arm became weaker. The Goblin's originally red eyes began to dim, and the presence of rationality began to return. Along with it:

fear.

The Goblin began to understand it was going to die, it unlatched its teeth, and got away from Theodore. However he simply reached out his arm, and grabbed the neck of the creature. He rolled over, dragging the Goblin to the ground beside him, and mounted the Goblin.

[10 seconds left of Overclock]

He had to act fast! He rained down blow after blow. Trying to cave in this Goblin's skull, before he became too weak.

[Host has been detected to be in critical health, Potion automatically used!]

[Tutorial Dungeon has been cleared by Hunter Theodore! Rewards being distributed!]

[Goblin has dropped Tooth Necklace (Grey).]

However Theodore saw none of this, he had already collapsed and passed out from the blood loss. The Potion was taking effect, and the teeth marks on his arm began to scab over. His back and arm both stopped bleeding, and the pained look at Theodore's face lessened. He was then teleported back to his small apartment, where he was now sleeping on the floor.
